Natalie Portman is, as always, amazing. She is beautiful, talented and very diverse. For you closed-minded individuals that think her rap video was trash, is this because she wasn’t acting as a princess or a “young lady”? It’s ACTING! What if she portrayed a serial killer as Charlize Theron did in Monster? Would that make her a criminal? Should we lock her up? She’s not being a very good role model for “the children” is she?

Rediculous to you that frown on her. She said shit, and of course, far cruder things. Who cares? It’s a show that’s on at 10:30 or later when kids should be in bed or supervised by parents. Should everything on television be catered to children.

I’m sure she wouldn’t perform the same video on Saturday morning cartoons. It’s YOUR responsibility as a parent to monitor your children. Do your kids have pc’s in their bedrooms? If so, you are far more ignorant than i thought. They should be in a public place only where you can help monitor their choices until they understand more about what is and is not acceptable. I feel sorry for them…

Kudos to Natalie for being diverse and having the ability to do scenes that don’t please everyone. How sad it is for those of you that live in that “cookie-cutter” world that frowns upon someone taking us to the edge and stepping over.

Without crude humor, you folks wouldn’t have anything to bitch about, would you? Ooops…sorry about the language. I’m sure you’d find a new reason to whine without her. Southpark, Bevis n Butthead, the list goes on…get used to it. Some people laugh at crude humor…some laugh at knock knock jokes. I know who I like to hang out with…peace.

You people just don’t get it. The video was supposed to be shocking. The joke is that (C)RAP music is mainstream entertainment now, and this is the kind of stuff most of it is made of. The shock value, and thus the whole joke, is insinuating that a classy actress like Natalie would fit right in doing this type of thing now, and few people would even find it shocking anymore.

I can’t fathom how an actress with such (past) eloquence and talent would taint her entire persona and express her clearly underdeveloped sense of humor this way. After listening to her
“$#!T on Harvard” and talk about killing dogs and children….well, it’s just disgusting and pathetic and SNL has gone way too far! Who thinks this $#!T up anyway? NBC is probably mortified that they even had anything to do with this and THAT is why this discussion even exists…when it should exist because Natalie has ruined any and all possibilities “for the sake of humor” of ever being a role model to children or animal advocacy again. She calls this artistic? Wow! I never thought there was anything smart or funny about Beavis and Butthead. I may now be reconsidering!

That video is not at all funny, it is remarkably sad, 1. because it is supposed to be funny, and 2. because it demonstrates the level that Natalie Portman has fallen to.

Moreover on the subject of copyright, do you have to pay to watch CBS and NBC, or are they supported through advertisement, because if the latter is the case, then there is no problem with rebroadcasting their programs as far as I see. If it is an encrypted broadcast that you must pay to receive then I could understand it.
As long as content is not available before it is broadcast, then the TV company is losing nothing, at least nothing of note.

I don’t suggest that NBC doesn’t have the right to keep its content tight, merely that embargoing the video is shortsighted. But as my 2nd update notes, NBC is running the video on its own site, obviating my argument. If they’re offering it up, they certainly have a right to keep the traffic on their own site.

(Whether it’s technically possible to do that, given the ability of sites to put up downloadable ones, is another matter.)

OH MY GOD! Someone actually tries to retain ownership of THEIR OWN WORK. This is the craziest concept in history.

So you’re suggesting that having someone else broadcast your programming without providing you with any revenue is a progressive business model? Maybe NBC should apply for charity status.
