This is a new series; it does not relate back to the first four in any way. If you haven't read this somewhere then just use common sense: Nicholson's Joker killed Bruce's parents in the original and became the Joker in that movie, so how could you expect heath ledger playing a man who obviously didn't kill bruce's parents (that was joe chill who died in begins) and who will become the Joker in this coming sequel to grow up to be Jack Nicholson's character from the original?
