Jessica Biel Sells Date for $30,000

Jessica Biel has auctioned off a date with herself for $30,000.

t’s a small price to pay for a date with Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive,” but the $30,000 bid for lunch with Jessica Biel is going to a worthy cause. That was the amount raised in an auction to help a Colorado teen who lost her leg and part of her pelvis following a prom-night accident May 13, the Associated Press reports. The girl, Molly Bloom, was run over by a Hummer stretch limousine. A fundraiser to help defray Bloom’s medical expenses included a charity auction for a lunch date with Biel, 24, who grew up in Boulder, Colo.

On Tuesday, a man identified only as “John” cast the $30,000 bid. He said he was a senior vice president for an oil and gas company in Denver, the Rocky Mountain News reported. Biel, who was out of the country at the time of the auction, will lunch with the man on Aug. 18. “I promise, I’m a cheap date,” Biel said in a taped message.

I’d make some prostitute-related joke here but it doesn’t seem appropriate under the circumstances. Now, granted, Biel could have just ponied up the $30k herself–she’s making big bucks, after all–but it’s still a very sweet gesture.

ASL’s Lisa Timmons says, “$30,000 still gets you about 1,000 dates with me.” A real bargain, I’d say.
