Ashley Paige Using Children to Sell Sexy Bikinis

Last month, Gone Hollywood reported on Cindy Crawford allowing her five-year-old daughter, Kaya, to participate in a bikini modeling campaign.

It seems the trend is catching on. Celebrity designer Ashley Paige, famous for her knitted and crocheted bikinis and for the sexy swimwear favoured by stars including Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani and Carmen Electra, has come under fire fire for parading a young girl down the catwalk with near-naked models during a sell-out show at the Los Angeles Fashion Week.

It is not unheard of for young models to be used during the fashion week when top designers show off their new lines in LA, but not on a catwalk surrounded by almost topless women - some with just flower motifs covering their nipples.

Conservative family campaigner Jean Terry said designers need to be more aware of the message they are sending out by using young children on the catwalks. “Nearly naked models are not the kind of role models we want for our children,” she said, “and young girls should certainly not be used to promote a promiscuous image. “Designers like to be controversial, but they should think very carefully about the message they are sending out by using young models.”

Ashley Paige was the main event of Thursday’s shows at LA’s Smashbox Studio at the Mercedes-Benz sponsored fashion week. The Hollywood-based designer has said: “I think the women who like my stuff…exude sexuality.”

Shame on you Freddy. Ashley Paige is not using children. But it seems you are to further your journalistic goals. Young girls are often at the beach or a pool with no top on at all because theyâ??re as developed as boys and only sickos would attach a sexual idea to themâ??something this article is doing. Only in the United States of Backwoods Thinking would you quote a conservative bore telling us that nearly naked role models arenâ??t good and that designers only want to be controversial. Do you really think the human body is so perverse and evil? I must check with God, because the last I heard, He was flawless and thereâ??s nothing wrong with the human physique. I didnâ??t realize that Jean Terry knows better than God. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill. YOU guys are the ones thinking vulgar things, so maybe YOU are not sending the right message. I suppose the next thing on your agenda would be to drive to Malibu next summer and preach about the sins of all the families that let their daughters go topless when their chest is indistinguishable from a boyâ??s. Oh the controversy!!

Are you totally retarded. Since when do people write articles without doing their homework? Ashley Paige has a childrens line of bikinis that sells very well. Who do you suppose should model these childrens bikinis on her catwalk? Retards shouldn’t be writting.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Do your research. Ashley Paige has a childrens line of bikinis. Who do you suppose should model her children line of bikinis? Do your homework and stop writing if you’re not capable of that.

Wow, I’m so shocked Freddy that you could be such an imbesile.
Perhaps in need of some therapy too.
Apparently, the only people worried about children wearing bikinis on the catwalk are those who clearly have a problem with their own self body image and think a bit too much on the dark side of things. Stop projecting your guilt and shame onto the rest of us who just like to wear cute bikinis, enjoy kids being kids and having fun!

Although I feel that this children’s line is ok…I do feel that the waist line on these bottoms are a little too low for little girls. I think she should raise it up a little…there shouldn’t be a hurry to grow up.

I’m really shocked that so many of you think it’s perfectly acceptable to parade this young girl around like that!

A child in a swimsuit should not be a sexual thing. Parading a girl on a stage in front of onlookers during a fashion show IS a very sexual thing! Pedophilia…on stage. Nice.

A bikini is a swimsuit invented to display a woman’s body. It’s not made for comfort…it’s not made to swim and play on the beach in. That’s what children need to be doing! Playing! Not displaying their bodies for others to enjoy. Children and their bodies are beautiful when doing what is natural, playing. I have no problem with little ones running around topless as they are playing, that’s a natural state. But when you put a child in a swimsuit like this you make her decidedly unnatural.

I think it’s a great idea, except maybe the company should have gone a bit more conservative. When I was a little girl, I tried looking for a nice swimsuit, but it never existed.

I think this line is absolutely adorable! I commend Ashley for putting a healthy, fun, and energetic child on stage to display her line. Yes it is cut low, but no one is forcing you to buy it. I don’t have children yet-but I hope Ashley continues her ideas for years to come.
