Michael Jackson will make a rare public appearance at the World Music Awards in London next month, organizers announced Sunday.
The reclusive king of pop will receive a Diamond Award, given to artists who sell more than 100 million albums, at the industry ceremony on Nov. 15.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the World Music Awards to London, the music capital of the world,” said founder Melissa Corken. “The presence of Michael Jackson is very exciting for us.”
Jackson has made few appearances since being acquitted of child molestation charges in June 2005. He left the United States soon after and has spent time in Bahrain and Ireland.
Jackson last performed in Britain in 1997. In 2001, he addressed the Oxford Union student debating society.
The World Music Awards were held in Monaco for 15 years before moving to the United States in 2004 and 2005. This year’s event at London’s Earls Court Arena is to be hosted by Lindsay Lohan , with performances from Beyonce , Mary J. Blige , Katie Melua and Andrea Bocelli .
The annual show business awards select winners based on the strength of their worldwide record sales. Previous recipients of the Diamond Award include Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion . source

SHOCKINGLY enough, no one in New York wants to hear Kevin Federline rap. Spies at Webster Hall say that so few $20 tickets have been sold for Federline’s Nov. 4 show that “we may just cancel it”.
New Yorkers are clearly not fans of ‘Popozao‘ [Federline's pathetic first single].” Britney Spears‘ hubby – who claims he is the most underrated person in Hollywood – should be used to rejection by now. We hear his Cleveland show was also cancelled due to lack of interest.

Otherwise, you will show up for work an hour early, which would really suck! FYI, I’ve posted this at 10:45 mountain time… so it’s not the 30th yet where I live.

Britney Spears is still the same ‘ol girl we know and love with a playful spirit and some sexy legs! Brit went on a go-kart ride last night with Jamie Lynn and her sister’s boyfriend. The trio tooled around Malibu and made a pit stop at the local gas station where Britney was play-fighting with Jamie Lynn — too cute! [gag]

Madonna took the brood, David included, to what appears to be a shopping mall. As happy and well fed as David is at this point, I can’t help but feel sorry for him… with the constant media attention and um, well… shopping malls. Look at that baby’s face, he looks terrified being photographed.

American comic and talk show host Bill Maher dressed up as our dearly departed Australian crocodile hunter Steve Irwin for a weekend Halloween party in Los Angeles.
This is really in extremely bad taste, especially so soon after Steve’s death! Truly, some things are just taboo, this is one of them.

The ex-husband of Heather Mills has leaped to the defence of Sir Paul McCartney in his forthcoming divorce battle, insisting the former model repeatedly attacked him during their two-year marriage. I’m beginning to think Heather is some sort of psycho bitch from hell! …[heh]
Businessman Alfie Karmal was stunned to read alleged leaked documents in the press claiming the former Beatle physically and verbally abused Mills.
Karmal brands Mills a “compulsive liar” and insists she is far more likely to resort to domestic violence than the singer.
He recalls, “We had a lot of rows, then she’d attack and slap me. Attack is the best form of defence for Heather.
“She kicked me off a bed once. I was kneeling and she kicked me in the chest, knocking me off backwards. It was really painful. I never hit Heather back, but I felt like it sometimes.”
Karmal also claims he sent Mills to a psychologist to deal with her “truth issues” during the relationship, insisting, “It wouldn’t surprise me if she made everything up. She is a compulsive liar.”
Karmal, 48, split from Mills in 1991 after just 20 months together. source

Bill O’Reilly walked out for his appearance on David Letterman‘s “Late Show” with a plastic shield. He could have used it. “That’s cute, that’s nice,” Letterman said on Friday night’s show. “You come out with toys.” Gotta love his sense of humor.
Letterman and the Fox News Channel talk show host renewed their prickly confrontation from January, when Letterman told him “I have the feeling about 60 percent of what you say is crap.”
Before O’Reilly even came out, Letterman made his feelings clear.
“I’m secretly hoping when Bill O’Reilly comes out here, I’ll have the opportunity to call him a bonehead,” Letterman said.
They discussed the Iraq war and the upcoming midterm election, with O’Reilly saying that Americans are depressed by the progress of the Iraq War, and that they’d rather watch escapist entertainment like “Dancing with the Stars” than the news.
He asked Letterman: “Are you going to be on `Dancing with the Stars’?”
“Ha ha,” Letterman said. “You bonehead.”
Letterman said that like many Americans, he was so angered in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that he wanted to strike out, and didn’t oppose the Iraq War at its beginning. As time has gone on, he said he has realized that was wrong.
Asked by O’Reilly whether he wanted the Americans to win the war, Letterman said he wanted a solution that would result in the least loss of American lives.
As part of their confrontation, O’Reilly said Letterman was guilty of oversimplifying a complicated situation.
“You’re putting words in my mouth,” he told Letterman at one point.
“You’re putting artificial facts in your head,” Letterman responded.
O’Reilly didn’t get angry with Letterman during his appearance, although at one point he told an apparent heckler in the audience to “knock it off.” He told the audience that he and Letterman were really friends. “This whole thing is a big act,” he said.
Letterman never agreed with him.
“I have no idea what I’m talking about,” Letterman said. “But I don’t think you do, either.”

Eighty years after his death, the name Harry Houdini remains synonymous with escape under the most dire circumstances. But Houdini, the immigrants’ son whose death-defying career made him one of the world’s biggest stars, was more than a mere entertainer?
A new biography of the legendary performer, who was born to a Jewish family in Budapest, Hungary, in 1874, suggests that Houdini worked as a spy for Scotland Yard, monitored Russian anarchists and chased counterfeiters for the U.S. Secret Service – all before he was possibly murdered.
“The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero” will be released on Halloween, Oct. 31 – the anniversary of Houdini’s untimely death at age 52. Chasing new information on the elusive superstar eventually led authors William Kalush and Larry Sloman to create a database of more than 700,000 pages.
“There’s no way in the world we could have done this book without it,” said Sloman of the huge electronic index. “It would have taken 30 years – maybe.”
The biography lays out a scenario where Houdini, using his career as cover, managed to travel the United States and the world while collecting information for law enforcement. The authors made the link after reviewing a journal belonging to William Melville, a British spy master who mentioned Houdini several times.
Melville, while at Scotland Yard in the early 20th century, helped launch Houdini’s European career by allowing the performer to demonstrate his escape skills. Houdini, at a demonstration arranged by Melville, slipped free from a pair of Scotland Yard handcuffs as an audition for a London theater owner.
The book suggests that Melville’s compliance was part of a quid pro quo in which Houdini worked as a spy. A similar situation occurred in Chicago, where Houdini’s career took off after a publicity stunt aided by a local police lieutenant, the book said.
“Finding the Melville diary – we knew there was a connection, we knew there was something there,” said Kalush. “But finding that diary solidified a lot of other things.”
No less a Houdini enthusiast than Teller – the mute half of Penn and Teller, and one of the legendary performer’s spiritual descendants – felt the link between the escape artist and the authorities was no leap.
“Law enforcement is about bureaucracy and cronyism,” Teller said. “So they’re going to let some entertainer walk in and escape from their jail cells? That suggests to me that (the authors) are on the right track.” read more….

What did Lindsay Lohan decide to be for Halloween? Well… when you sleep around a lot, it only stands to reason that you should go as a “female version of Hugh “High” Hefner“, of course.

Lindsay wore a shockingly conservative silk pajama ensemble last night to a Halloween party. After snacking on cupcakes at Magnolia, she headed to Agent Provocateur to pick out a costume and though she looked at a sexy see-through white teddy, she ended up with the Hugh Hefner look. Could Lindsay be toning things down a bit?

With the sun-kissed glow of a Malibu beach, Gina W. may appear to be a quintessential California teen, but put her in front of a blazing band of Hollywood rockers and she’s instantly transformed into a vocal powerhouse.
In less than twelve months, Gina has moved from Colorado to California, finished high school and has written, recorded, mixed and mastered “Can’t Handle Me”, her debut CD. “I’m not like most girls”, she says. “Most of my friends are obsessed with having boyfriends — that teen thing. I’m really focused on my career right now”.
Focus is key: while completing high school, Gina would leave class and drive over the hill into the San Fernando Valley, to write and record with producer Andrew Rollins. In a track-driven age, the two took a decidedly organic approach. “Just a guitar”, confirms Gina, “and we’d work on whatever I was feeling.” Real life scenarios inspired her lyrics. “I had just come out of my first serious relationship,” Gina confides, “so my first songs were about breakups. Now I’m writing about being in control and growing up.”
