Model Niki Taylor and NASCAR auto racing driver Burney Lamar have tied the knot. A good couple?
 The couple married Wednesday before 60 guests at the Grande Colonial Hotel in the La Jolla area of San Diego, Taylor’s manager, Lou Taylor, tells Us Weekly magazine in a report on its Web site.
Taylor, 31, and Lamar, 26, met at a charity event in January 2005.
“I looked at Burney and said to myself, ‘This is the guy I’m going to marry,”‘ Taylor told the magazine.
It was the first marriage for Lamar and the second for Taylor, who has 11-year-old twin boys from her previous marriage to former football player Matt Martinez.
The two divorced in 1996.
Taylor lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where she owns a clothing boutique.

Julia Roberts is expecting her third child with her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder, her spokeswoman has confirmed.
Despite her rough road with relationships, Kiefer Sutherland and Lyle Lovett, it appears that Julia has finally met her match. As far as celebrity couples go, I’d say they are only second to Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck for stability. Hope I didn’t just jinx them!
 The baby is due this summer, Roberts’ publicist, Marcy Engelman, said in a story posted on the magazine’s Web site. News of the pregnancy first appeared in the New York Post’s Page Six column.
A call to Engelman by The Associated Press wasn’t immediately returned.
Roberts, 39, and Moder, 37, have 2-year-old twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, who were born in November 2004. The couple were married in July 2002 at Roberts’ home in Taos, N.M.
Roberts is the voice of the wise spider in the film adaptation of “Charlotte’s Web.” She’ll next be seen in the drama “Charlie Wilson’s War,” directed by Mike Nichols and also starring Tom Hanks , scheduled for release next year.

1. The ubiquitous YouTube, MySpace, etc. Time magazine may have overstated the case with its Person of the Year , but certainly these Web sites are redefining who makes entertainment, when it’s available (whenever you want) — and what it is, for that matter. Not bad for that series of tubes called the Internets.
2. Britney Spears. Didn’t she used to sing?
3. Major deaths: James Brown, Ahmet Ertegun, Robert Altman. All incredibly influential, all deserving of more due. The world is a lesser place with their losses.
4. Mel Gibson. His drunken, racist tirade made him the center of attention in July. "Apocalypto" put him on top of the box office in December.
4a. Race and rants. Gibson’s outburst (and others, notably Michael Richards’) started talk about race, ethnicity and prejudice, but whether the discussion was enlightening or simply a frenzy of yelling is an open question. (a certain reporter.

8. Borat. Sacha Baron Cohen’s clever Kazakh character topped the box office and started discussions on the value of satire. High-five!

What about the TomCat phenomenon? People obsessed for months on when and if Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes would get married, when their baby would be born, what its name would be, when the first pictures would come out, why they were seen around town without said baby (Suri), and so forth.
At least in the online world, “crotch shots” and its variants would be high on the list, with Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Paris Hilton all having well publicized (and searched) incidents. Ditto “beauty pageant scandals,” with the drunken behavior of Miss USA Tara Conner and Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees getting so much attention over the last couple of weeks. Of lesser note would be the Scarlett Johansson phenomenon, with the starlet suddenly appearing at the top of all the hot celebrity superlative lists.

The story goes that Reed was hitting on these two ladies, was eventually shot down, and then Jeff Reed did what any of us would have done: he stood in front of a mirror, pushed his pants down, and took a picture of the top of his junk.
He then sent said picture to the ladies to let them know what they were missing out on. Since then, the ladies went into a deep depression, began to cut their arms, and are now both currently having sex with David Akers.
Now, I can’t promise you that any of that is true. I can’t even tell you for sure that that’s Jeff Reed. If it is, though… I seriously doubt that Jeff Reed’s the type of guy who will be the least bit embarrassed about this.
I’ve always thought Reed was a pretty good kicker, and I’ll tell you what–that guy knows his way around a razor, too.

With Saddam Hussein’s execution scheduled to take place in the next couple of days and videotaped, there’s plenty of speculation about how the hanging will be covered on television. Reuters’ Hollywood Reporter Paul Gough assures us it will be “tasteful.”
Television networks face a killer of a conundrum with the impending execution of Saddam Hussein, whose hanging could be videotaped and perhaps aired on Iraqi TV.
The timing of Saddam’s date with the gallows was unclear, but late Thursday CBS, NBC and Fox News Channel reported that the former dictator, convicted this year in the deaths of 148 people in 1982, would be turned over by the American military to the Iraqi government within 36 hours and hanged before the start of a Muslim holiday on Sunday.
Several sources said Saddam’s execution would be videotaped by the Iraqi government, though it wasn’t clear whether it would be released to the public or broadcast. “We will video everything,” Iraqi National Security adviser Mouffak al Rubaie told CBS News.
Judging by the Iraqi government’s release Tuesday of videotape of the hanging of 13 convicts, it could be a gruesome affair. Meetings were held Thursday in at least two network headquarters over how to handle the potentially graphic images.
ABC and CBS said they wouldn’t air the full execution if the video became available. “We’re very aware that we’re coming into people’s living rooms and that there could be children watching,” CBS News senior vp Linda Mason said.
Mason and her network counterparts have broadcast standards and procedures they follow in these cases. Phil Alongi, special-events executive producer at NBC News, said there are ways the network can approach the video or photographs that will get the point across without having to be graphic.
The operative word: taste.
“We have very, very strict guidelines with how to deal with that,” said Bob Murphy, senior vp at ABC News. “If there were pictures made available of the execution, they would have to be viewed by senior management before we would put them on the air, and we would make a judgment of taste and propriety of what we would show.”
CNN and Fox News Channel still were discussing what they would do if the footage were made available. It also wasn’t clear what the newly launched network Al-Jazeera International would do. An e-mail and phone call to the channel’s Qatar headquarters weren’t returned Thursday. Despite popular assumptions to the contrary, Al-Jazeera’s pan-Arab channel has never shown an execution.
While video of an execution would be unprecedented in U.S. television, the war in Iraq has led to a number of judgment calls on graphic video. The U.S. military released graphic photographs of Saddam’s two sons who were killed in a U.S. raid on their Mosul hideout in July 2003. “We edited down the pictures to show only what was appropriate, what we thought was appropriate,” Murphy said. “We didn’t show the pictures live (when the network received them), and we made sure that they showed enough of the bodies so that it was clearly them, but we didn’t dwell on it.”
None of the networks showed the beheading of Nick Berg, an American who was kidnapped and killed in Iraq in May 2004. But Berg’s beheading by kidnappers — along with the killings of others, including a South Korean — was distributed on the Internet and fed to American networks that chose not to use the footage.
Mason, Alongi and Murphy said Thursday that an execution video widely distributed on the Internet wouldn’t change their minds about not airing the graphic portions of any video.
Steve Benen and Kim Priestap both predict it will be online soon. There’s no reason to doubt that. Indeed, AllahPundit promises he’ll “do everything in my power to get it for you.”
Frankly, I’ve got no interest in seeing it. Once I find it, though, I’ll be sure to make it available for those who want to see it.

But she begs to differ?
 Now, she’s showing moviegoers what she can do behind the camera as well. Zellweger is the producer and star of “Miss Potter,” the new film about Beatrix Potter, creator of the best-selling children’s book of all time, “Peter Rabbit.”
Not only was Potter a well-known author, she was also a pioneering environmentalist and a career woman who defied her parents and fell in love with her publisher. Though Potter and Zellweger are separated by more than a century, they have much in common. Both are famous and admired by the public, and both women share a sense of shyness and humility.
ABC’s Diane Sawyer recently sat down with Zellweger to talk about “Miss Potter” and why she doesn’t feel like the typical movie star.
Diane Sawyer: So Beatrix Potter. Who knew that she was this revolutionary thing? I imagined her as this — sort of big-breasted grandmother.
Renee Zellweger: Yeah. Not me. I didn’t know a thing. I was so surprised to find out that the lady behind the bunnies and the, and the, and you know, the ducks and the mice, was so accomplished in so many different areas. I had absolutely no idea.
Diane Sawyer: So how did you first get turned onto it?
Renee Zellweger: I read the script. I read the script and I was just fascinated. I was fascinated by her life story, which is impossible to believe it’s not fiction. You know, when you finish the script, you’re thinking, okay, it has all of the makings of great storytelling. And then you come to find that this is actually her true life story, and then I was hooked, and then I just wanted to know more.
Diane Sawyer: And also, her love story, my goodness.
Renee Zellweger: I know. Isn’t it extraordinary?
Diane Sawyer: You said recently — you said, I don’t think I look like a movie star. Do you really mean that?]
Renee Zellweger: Oh, yeah. Oh, absolutely. When I think of movie star in the conventional sense, oh, absolutely.
Diane Sawyer: Who looks like a movie star?
Renee Zellweger: Oh, well, there’s lists and lists of, you know, gorgeous girls who fit the bill. I, I don’t know. I look like kind of a little bit of an accident maybe, a little bit unconventional. I mean, but it works for me. I don’t complain. It makes it easier for me, I think.
I mean I didn’t, I didn’t find my way through this business because…people were…celebrating this, this great beauty you know, so I don’t have an obligation to maintain it, which is nice and I’m not limited by it. I don’t want to worry about what I look like or I don’t want what I’m inevitably —
Diane Sawyer: Well, you don’t get up in the morning like we do and go — well, girls, come on, I’m a girl.
Renee Zellweger: Absolutely, I’m a girl. I want to cover my pimples like everybody else. But I don’t want to be beholden to that.
Diane Sawyer: You said your New Year’s resolution is to get control of your personal life? You had a very funny word: it was to do a better job of “managing my personal life.” Is this the New Year’s resolution, and to do a lot of focusing on your cat?
Renee Zellweger: Yeah, there’s just, you know, little things that fall by the wayside that I’d like not to let fall by the wayside, and I’d like to have more grace in certain areas of my professional life. That’s a big one.
Diane Sawyer: Spiritual grace or —
Renee Zellweger: I would like to be more comfortable with the subsequent complications that come from having a public persona. I’m not so good at it. I can fake it, but on the inside, I get a bit, you know, a little bit jostled by it. So I’d like to find a way to be more comfortable with the things that come with it.

He is a keen guitar player whose admiration for the Rolling Stones stretched to modeling his character, the pirate Jack Sparrow, on the mannerisms of Keith Richards.
Now the Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp, is being lined up to play a rock star for real in a biopic of the late Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury.
On a rather serious note, [heh]… this should be fairly interesting to see! You know Johnny will add his own quirky flair to the role.
Robert de Niro’s company, Tribeca Productions, is said to be behind the project, which Brian May, the Queen guitarist, confirmed was in development. “Discussions are at an early stage,” he said on his website.
May described Depp as “fantastic”. “He would be a worthy counterpart for Freddie on screen. I don’t think I can say any more right now,” he added.
De Niro has known Brian May and Queen’s drummer, Roger Taylor, since they met at the Venice Film Festival in 1996 and ploughed his own money into their hit stage musical, We Will Rock You. The musical was originally going to be about the band but the surviving members decided that would be too embarrassing for all involved.
“It would be too painful, too close, and a bit grand. It would be for somebody else to do, you can’t supervise your own history,” May said at the time.
Instead, Ben Elton, the comedy writer and novelist, devised a story that incorporated the band’s back catalogue of songs. When the show opened in London in 2002 after six years in development, De Niro attended the first night. “It’s an adventure. I’ve been involved in this for a long time. It went through a lot of stages and finally got to this stage – it’s going to be terrific,” he said.
The £7.5m production, which is still running, is set in a future where musical instruments have been banned but a group of rebels go in search of mythical electric guitars.
But the proposed biopic would tell the life story of Mercury, who was born in Zanzibar in 1946 and died from complications of Aids in 1991, the day after confirming he had the disease.
His real name was Farrokh Bulsara but he adopted the name he was best known by at school in India, where he grew up. His family settled in England when he was in his teens. He performed with several bands before co-founding Queen in 1971.
They signed to EMI a year later. His distinctive voice, which ranged across four octaves, was a key factor in their success on songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody. It lasted nearly six minutes and stayed at number one in the UK charts for nine weeks.
It has since been voted Britain’s best single of all time by music fans in a Guinness Book of British Hit Singles poll, defeating John Lennon’s Imagine and Hey Jude by the Beatles.
Although Mercury had a close friend, Mary Austin, with whom he lived for several years and who inherited his estate, he was fairly open about his homosexuality. He lived with Jim Hutton for the last six years of his life.

Jake Gyllenhaal and sister Maggie were staying at the inn for Christmas. Guests were seen running outside at around 2:43 am. Said a neighbor: “They weren’t dressed to come out. It was early.”
Daniel DeLong, chef and co-owner, said Gyllenhaal assisted with recovery efforts: “Jake was helping me pull things out of the fire.”
Other well-known guests at the inn were Frances McDormand and husband Joel Coen. No injuries were reported.

Of course, the type of woman who would make a porno movie with Ray-J would probably lie to a celebrity blog about said sex tape. Then again, if Kim Kardashian actually did not make a sex tape with Ray-J, she would probably deny it in that case, too. So, really, we have no way of knowing that there isn’t a Kim Kardashian Ray-J sex tape. On the other hand, were there a Kim Kardashian Ray-J sex tape and it got discovered and the video posted on the Internet, then we could confirm it.
Basically, there’s no way to falsify the proposition of a Karashian-Ray-J video but it is provable.

The biggest Britney Spears fan site, WorldofBritney.com, is shutting down in disgust with their former idol, TMZ reports.
Britney Spears is losing the respect of even her most ardent fans – and now one of the Britster’s most popular fan sites is shutting down.
WorldofBritney.com, a faithful and well-visited chronicler of all things Britney since 2000, is closing up shop, and its webmaster had some parting shots for Spears as he announced his site’s demise. “As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is [World of Britney],” writes Ruben Garay. “I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it’s very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going.”
Garay says that Britney’s recent penchant for crotch-exposure isn’t the primary reason he’s moving on, however, he’s going to start another celeb-themed site soon. And he says that he still has respect for Spears “as a human being.”

As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is WoB. We’re moving on to greater, bigger things. I would therefore like to announce the permanent shut down of World of Britney.com beginning January 31st, 2007. As WoB closes, Carolina and I will be launching a brand new state of the art Celebrity Blog that will try to compete with Perez Hilton, Pink is the New Blog, Popsugar and all of those.
The new site will be 100% Web 2.0 compliant featuring widgets, live search, communities, the ability to send in cool videos through your cell phone and so on. It’s something I’ve been silently working on for the past 3 months, and with 7 years of experience as a successful webmaster, I think 2007 will be a huge year for this new site (which I won’t mention the name of yet but, you’ll be like ‘Ohhhhhh’…)
No worries though, Britney will still be covered and our relationship with her people, Larry etc….will remain intact. I’m also going to use the new blog to educate people about the entertainment industry, get people into making short films, have competitions, etc….
The point is to combine what everyone else is doing at the moment with all their celebrity blogs into one place.
I think that WoB has had its run…….its feet are not holding firm anymore, not because of my ability to run it, but because I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it’s very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going, so in turn, I’m trying to be a step ahead of it, and yes, for those of you laughing and remembering what happened in March of 2002, this time, it will be for good :) WoB will continue to provide its daily updates to fans up until it’s time to say goodbye. We look forward to continuing to report news on Britney, it just won’t be exclusive about her anymore.
