Renee Zellweger Has Had Enough of the Media

So this is why Renee Zellweger always has that “sour puss” look on her face!

Renee Zellweger-Sour Puss PICAsk Renee Zellweger about the paparazzi and the invasion of privacy — and you’re likely to get quite the earful.

I certainly did Saturday, as I walked into an interview suite at New York’s Jurmairah Essex House — set to chat with the actress about her charming new film, ”Miss Potter.”

Zellweger was talking to one of her assistants about an unnerving encounter with a paparazzi as she arrived in New York to do interviews for her new film about the life of Beatrix Potter, the creator of the classic Peter Rabbit tales.

When told to just ignore those photographers, Zellweger acknowledged she tries ”to treat them just like they’re merely furniture … but it’s hard when they pop up out of nowhere and start flashing those cameras in your face — about six inches in front of you!”

The Oscar winner also shared two similar stories that clearly are etched in her mind. ”Not long ago I was in a restaurant and noticed that a woman at the next table was using her cell phone camera to take pictures of Bruce Springsteen’s children. When I asked her what gave her the right to do that — simply because she was in the same restaurant — the woman just looked at me and said, ‘This isn’t working quite right. I’m only getting chin action on those kids. I need to get at a better angle.’

”She didn’t understand how totally wrong that was.”

• Zellweger also shared the fact ”I almost cried” when she saw a recent photo of David Beckham in a celebrity magazine — with a woman who had jumped on his back, raising her fist in the air. ”He looked so miserable and she was totally triumphant. … It was like she was saying, ‘I’ve won! I’m in this photo!’ ”

• Despite the annoyance of life in the celebrity fishbowl, Zellweger pledges to ”refuse to surround [herself] with tons of security. … I know it makes it harder on me, but I refuse to live my life that way.”

• Thanks to her short-lived marriage to Kenny Chesney, Zellweger herself has been quite the recent tabloid target. Any New Year’s resolutions? ”To concentrate on doing a better job of managing my personal life. To do lots of cooking and to focus on my cat!”
