Naomi Campbell to Mop Floors for a Week
Naomi Campbell, whose erratic behavior in recent years has overshadowed a once elite modeling career, has been assigned to janitor duty as part of her community service for hitting her maid, a court official confirmed on Tuesday.
She should have to be a maid for her maid, no?
Earlier, The New York Post reported that the model will spend her five day stint mopping up floors at a Sanitation Department warehouse in lower Manhattan. The community service is scheduled to start on March 19. An official announcement is expected later this week.
“This is not a desk job. She’ll be mopping floors,” said the tabloid’s source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Campbell was arrested last March for throwing her phone at Ana Scolavino, a maid, during an argument about a pair of missing jeans. Scolavino ended up with four stitches in her head.
She pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault in January and was fined $235, ordered to do five days’ community service and instructed to complete a two-day anger management program.
Campbell’s representative has said, “Naomi is ready to report and complete her community service, no matter where or what she will be assigned.”
The likely punishment means Campbell will not have to face the same public humiliation that Culture Club singer Boy George endured last August when he was ordered to sweep New York streets. The media frenzy that followed led to him being moved to another location, out of the public’s eye. He received the community service order after being found guilty of lying to police about a burglary.
