Roseanne Barr is being touted as the leading loudmouth to replace Rosie O’Donnell on “The View,” according to sources this morning.
Roseanne Barr has emerged as the top contender to replace Rosie O’Donnell next year on “The View,” sources say.
A rep for Barr says she has not been approached.
“It’s almost like that rumor that spread last month about how she was going to be on ‘Desperate Housewives,’ ” said a spokesperson for Barr.
“She’s a piece of work, she’s a character, she says what’s on her mind and she’s funny,” said a source with knowledge of ABC’s sudden and desperate search to find a new co-host to replace O’Donnell who quit the show last week.
“They’re missing strong personalities on that show, and that’s what they’re going to need if they want to keep it going,” an ABC staffer close to the situation told the Post.
During an appearance on “Larry King” last week, Roseanne danced around the question of joining the “The View.”
“I’m not looking for the job,” she said at one point - and joking at another, “Well, I want $10 million, like Rosie.”
But she never said she wouldn’t take it if offered.
Boy George is on bail while police investigate allegations that he kidnapped a male escort and chained him to a wall in his London home.
Auden Carlsen, 28, claimed he was grabbed by the singer and another man and chained up after the star invited him to his house in Shoreditch to pose for photographs. Mr Carlsen claimed he met the former Culture Club star on the website Gaydar, and agreed to go to his flat at midnight as a £400 photographic model. He denied he was working as an escort.
But the Norwegian said he feared for his life when Boy George pounced on him and tied him up. “I was convinced I was going to die,” he said. “George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed as they held me down.”
He alleges that Boy George, whose hits include Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?, produced a box of whips and sex toys and told him: “Now you’ll get what you deserve.”
Mr Carlsen claims he escaped by pulling the hook from the wall and fleeing to a nearby newsagent’s at 6.30am on Saturday, from where he alerted the police.
Scotland Yard today confirmed they are investigating an allegation of false imprisonment and common assault, believed to have occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
A spokesman added: “Hackney CID is investigating and a man in his forties has been arrested in connection with the allegation. “He was taken to an east London police station but has subsequently been bailed to return on a date in July.”
The 45-year-old singer, whose real name is George O’Dowd, was unavailable for comment.
Former “American Idol” finalist Jessica Sierra was arrested early Sunday on felony battery charges for allegedly hitting a man on the head with a heavy glass at a cafe, police said.
Sierra, 21, was booked in the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was also charged with possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility after officers found a small amount of the drug while searching her, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
Sierra was released Sunday afternoon on $11,500 bail. There was no immediate indication if she had a lawyer.
The victim suffered a cut over his eye, but the spokeswoman gave no further information.
Sierra, of Tampa, was one of the hit show’s top 10 contestants in 2005.

Yes, complicated. Loads of bad guys and good guys to keep track of. Lucky for viewers, Leo’s a little bit of both in this scene.
Devoted family manJohn Travolta is set to make his next movie a true family affair after having persuaded studio bosses to cast his seven-year-old daughter Ella Bleu and wife Kelly Preston alongside him in the upcoming Walt Disney comedy Old Dogs.

It will be the first time John and Kelly have appeared together since they first met on the set of 1989 film The Experts.
Also joining the Travolta clan for the new flick is John’s old pal Robin Williams.
Old Dogs tells the story of two friends who find their lives turned upside down when they become the guardians of seven-year-old twin girls.

This puts him in good company as only two other country acts, including Tim McGraw and Martina McBride, have debuted inside the top 4 on Nielsen Soundscan’s Top 200 chart this year.
A Bahamian court cleared the way Friday for Anna Nicole Smith’s ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead to leave with their baby daughter, rejecting an appeal by Virgie Arthur.
The judges ruled that a U.S. court would likely have the final say in the custody dispute between Virgie Arthur and Larry Birkhead, who was confirmed as the 7-month-old baby’s father after undergoing DNA testing.
Arthur was challenging a judge’s decision this week to let Birkhead leave the island chain with Dannielynn. Her attorneys argued that Birkhead might not return as directed for another private hearing in the case June 8.
“I’m happy because this is nonsense really,” Birkhead told The Associated Press outside the courthouse.
Birkhead, a 34-year-old Los Angeles photographer, picked up a revised birth certificate at the Nassau registry later Friday. A court ordered the name of Smith’s last companion, Howard K. Stern, removed and the girl’s last name changed to Birkhead, according to a copy obtained by the AP.
The three-member appeals panel noted that both Arthur and Birkhead wanted to take the child to the United States.
“So what is the problem, what is the fear? The child is going to the States anyhow, no matter who gets custody,” Justice Emmanuel E. Osadebay said.
The court also ordered Arthur to pay Birkhead $3,000 in legal costs.
Smith, 39, died in February from an accidental drug overdose in Florida.
Stern, who has been caring for the girl in the oceanfront home he shared with Smith, patted Birkhead on the back after the ruling and said he was preparing himself emotionally to hand over custody.
“It’s difficult for me, but since paternity tests made it clear that Larry was the father, I knew it was inevitable,” Stern told the AP. “I just want Dannielynn to have a good life, and I’m confident Larry will give it to her.”
Stern said he hopes to be involved in the girl’s upbringing but that was up to Birkhead: “I’m not requiring written papers or court orders.”
During the hearing, Arthur took notes with a flower-tipped pen in a spiral notebook. “I’m writing prayers,” she told AP. “I’m talking to God.”
Arthur left the courthouse after the ruling without commenting.
On a personal note:
Dear Larry,… I truly hope you will allow Howard to be in Dannilynn’s life. I’ve always believed that one can never have too much love in their lives. I say, allow Howard to love her. He’s lost everything important to him. If there’s any fear, you can always have it be supervised. xoxo Allie
