American Idol Winner - Jordin Sparks or Blake Lewis? Singing or Style?

After yet another season of “American Idol,” it all comes down to tonight’s show. Will Jordin Sparks or Blake Lewis take home the trophy? It depends on whether the voters prefer the best singer or the best performer.

quote-picThe “American Idol” season finale is tonight with Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis the last contestants standing.

Before the third and last song of last night, the “American Idol” judges were of a mind that the title still was up for grabs — and then Jordin Sparks, all of 17, blew everyone away.

The way Simon Cowell sees it, Sparks and Lewis are the most evenly matched 'American Idol' finalists yet and either could win at the finals Wednesday, May 23, 2007. (AP Photo/FOX, Frank Micelotta) Simon Cowell and Co. — who have no vote in deciding whether Sparks or rival Blake Lewis, 25, ends up the winner — couldn’t contain themselves. “You were the best singer tonight. You deserve it all, baby!” Randy Jackson gushed Tuesday. “You just wiped the floor with Blake,” added Cowell, who then told Sparks he was wrong for initially thinking she wasn’t good enough to win the Fox talent show. “I would say the best individual performance of the night was Blake on the first song,” Cowell said. “But, based on overall singing — Jordin.”

After the two “Idol” finalists took their last turns on stage, the choice facing viewer voters was crystallized: the most talented singer or the better entertainer. Sparks, the voice, and Lewis, the stylist, had their legions of fans in a frenzy all night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

Lewis, of Bothell, Wash., opened the show with a reprisal of his infectious interpretation of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name.” The crowd was delirious but the judges were less impressed by Lewis’ voice than his performance as a whole. “Blake, you’re not the best singer in this competition. But you’re the best entertainer I think we’ve had,” Cowell said.

Usually, that’s what wins. That’s what sells, too. There are better singers in church and high choirs all over the country than on the Top 40.

AMERICAN IDOL FRAUD (AI is NOT Live)

You write that Jordan cried at the end of her performance of This Is My Now. She did indeed. Now go back and look at the snips of that performance shown at the end of the show.

PRESTO CHANGE-O! NO MORE TEARS.

.

For those of you who recorded last night’s show, replay it watching more closely. At the end of the show there are snips of Jordan’s and Blake’s performances. The snips are from ADDITIONAL performances of their songs.

Live! MY BUTT.

It’s obvious the producers picked which performances they let the TV audience see.

This WREAKS of vote rigging fraud.

if you can’t spell “reeks” right, why should I take your conspiracy theory seriously? You’re a freak. So they use outtakes from rehearsals or whatever for recaps. So what?

I didn’t care who won this year but I just wanted to clear this up. When you see any recap at the end of an Idol show, the performances you are seeing are from dress rehearsal taken before the show. Go back and look at any episode and you will see mannerisms and expressions that are different from their live performance. You’ll see it for Blake as well. Every contestant does it on every episode. It has been this way because there is no time to produce a montage package for every performer by the time the last singer performs. Hope this clears things up.
