David Hasselhoff Regains Custody Rights

Actor-singer David Hasselhoff “regained his parental rights Monday after he agreed to alcohol testing three times per week,” People reports.

David Hasselhoff Custody Hearing Photo quote-pic The actor, wearing a navy pinstripe suit and looking upbeat, made a rare Los Angeles courtroom appearance in his year-and-a-half-long divorce battle. His ex-wife Pamela Bach also attended the hearing with celebrity attorney Debra Opri by her side.

On May 7, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas temporarily blocked Hasselhoff from seeing daughters Taylor-Ann, 17, and Hayley, 14 after a drunken video of the actor surfaced earlier this month. The source says Hasselhoff and Bach reverted to their original joint custody arrangement for now.

Outside the courtroom, Hasselhoff said, “It went well today, and the truth was told.” His lawyer had no comment. Opri said only, “We’re happy, but I can’t say anything, I’ve been gagged (by the court).”

Hasselhoff, 54, filed for divorce from Bach in January 2006 after 16 years of marriage; she filed her own divorce claim the following day. The former couple have battled over finances and custody of their daughters ever since. The videotape, officially entered into evidence Monday, will be discussed at the next hearing scheduled for June 1.

TMZ, which apparently broke the story, adds that

quote-pic The court hearing today was closed — secret. Hasselhoff went into court stripped of his right to visit with his children in the wake of the burger video. But we’re told the judge was stunned by the evidence presented by the court-appointed expert who performed psychological evaluations on the family.

We’re told the expert said Pamela Bach, Hasselhoff’s ex, was abusive to her kids — especially Hayley, the younger of the two. The expert also noted that Bach refused drug testing, among many other things.

That’s what happens when you hassle The Hoff.
