Chris Daughtry Has Biggest Selling Album of 2007

Chris Daughtry

American Idol rocker Chris Daughtry has scored the biggest-selling record in America of 2007 after sailing past the three million sales mark with his debut, Daughtry. The success also gives Daughtry the fastest-selling rock debut in the 16-year history of the Billboard album chart’s sales tracking system.

The album has also been certified triple platinum and is the fifth best-selling digital release of all time.

Daughtry admits he has been struggling to come to terms with his success since the album hit the one million sales mark.

quote-picHe says, “Sometimes it never really sinks in where you’re at in your career. It seemed so unreal when I found out that we were platinum. I was just at home, doing normal everyday stuff at home, taking out the trash, dishes and whatnot, and I found out we’re selling over a million albums… It just felt so unreal. It’s kind of hard to grasp sometimes.”

How’s Taylor Hicks doing these days?

Taylor Hicks is doing great. He has a book coming out July 10th “Heart Full of Soul” that is already #1 on 3 of the Amazon list. And his three month spring tour sold $1.9 million in tickets. How did Daughtry’s tour do? I already know the answer. He had $404,000 in ticket sales. Taylor is doing what he loves the most. Live entertainment on a summer tour that is booked full and selling very good. Thank you for your concern.

Taylor is doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!But why bring Taylor’s name in a Daughtry article to begin with?By the way, Chris is not a solo artist so next time you put a pic up next to Daughtry maybe you should include the rest of the band…they might appreciate it.

Hi Mandy,

Thanks for asking about Taylor Hicks! And I am pleased to report that, to the best of my knowledge and information, Taylor is is very much alive and doing very well.

You were talking about the success of Mr. Daughtry’s album (and congratulations to him). Mr. Hicks ‘ music does not necessarily fit into the mainstream category that Chris’ does and accordingly Taylor does not receive the tremendous airplay that Chris has benefited from. In spite of that, his album has sold approximtatly 800,000 copies and went went platinum, an achievement afforded to few. He has just recently released a new single, Heaven Knows, that is doing quite well on the charts.

Taylor Hicks has spent the last year mainly concentrating on touring the country with a group of amazing musicians, filling concert halls and performing to enthusiastic crowds. He now continues with a summer tour, earning a growing respect and enthusiasm afforded to artists who give good performances. His performances last for 1-1/2 hours generally, the age-range of his audience is 8 to 85, and I can tell you, no one ever leaves the theater feeling cheated. I have attended one concert so far and I was literally astounded by the experience. From the time he took the stage at the beautiful old theatre where I saw him, the audience (young and old, male and female) was on its collective feet and stayed standing and moving with the music, until he left the stage approximately 90 minutes later. I left the theatre with a wide smile on my face that lasted at least a couple of weeks. He just makes you feel damn good! I now plan to see him again in August when he comes to this area as part of his summer tour. I hope if he comes to an area near you, will find the time to attend one of his concerts. You will not regret it.

As someone above mentions, Taylor has written a book due for release on July 10th by Random House called A Heart Full of Soul: An Inspirational Memoir About Finding Your Voice and Finding Your Way, and from the excerpt I have read, Mr. Hicks delivers in his book as he does in his performances.

I urge you to go and see this unique, talented, and very genuine man when the opportunity presents itself. You won’t regret it and you I guarantee you – you won’t ask that question again (how is Taylor Hicks doing these days?). What you will be asking is, “when is Taylor coming back to my area so I can see him again?”

I’m not a Taylor Hicks minion, but like Lee I have seen the man’s live in concert and all I can say is WOW. I’ve never enjoyed a concert more. He puts on a helluva show. And his band is a group of truly talented musicians.
I absolutely agree with some of the previous posters – if you get a chance to see him live, you shouldn’t miss it. I am definitely planning to see him again!!
