‘Idol: The Musical’ Closed Down After One Day

‘Idol: The Musical’ Closed Down After One Day - PIC

A musical inspired by the hit reality show ‘American Idol’ has been shut down after it’s one day official opening on Broadway. ‘Idol:The Musical’ was called a “satirical musical comedy that focuses on the outrageous and delusional fan base of the hit television show.”

quote-pic Producer Todd Ellis said in a statement that he closed the production “due to a lack of advance ticket sales, a lack of positive feedback from audience members and critics and a lack of sustainable financial resources.”

The $60-a-ticket show began previews on July 5 with the original cast from Syracuse, New York, where it was performed earlier this year. But by the end of July the 10-member cast had been replaced, without explanation, and fresh previews began on August 1 ahead of the opening night on August 12.

‘Idol’ is fun to watch because you can have it on in the background while doing something else. Not so you can spend $60 to be locked in one location and hopefully be entertained every 10th performer. And let’s face it, Simon and drunk Paula are fun to watch too.
