Owen Wilson Hospitalization Update

Owen Wilson Hospitalization Update - PIC

Since the mysterious hospitalization of Owen Wilson yesterday, rumors have been swirling about the possible cause. Owen is now in good condition, still at the hospital.

Star Magazine insists that the hospitalization was a suicide attempt, and now reveals a past of alcohol and prescription drug addiction. Star spoke to a “friend” of Owen’s from AA, who says that he used to attend meetings on a regular basis.

quote-pic“Owen was very dedicated to AA and to living a clean life,” the source explains. “I knew him when he was sober and to see him slip back into his disease was tough. We attended AA meeting at the Café Tropical in Silver Lake twice a week for several years. However, once Owen’s career took off he put his sobriety and AA on the back burner. He started coming less and less to meetings. When I would see him I would ask him how he was doing, he would act like everything was fine, but I could tell he was struggling with alcohol and drugs, mainly prescription pills. He looked haggard and his face looked puffy. In January of 2006, he stopped coming to meetings all together.”

“I ran into him in October of 2006 at an art opening in West Hollywood and he completely avoided me,” the source goes on to say. “Even though it seems like Owen should be on top of the world with all of his fame and money, this obviously doesn’t buy inner peace. Untreated alcoholism and drug abuse manifests into depression, anger, rage, isolation, suicide attempts and suicide. This is a deadly disease that if left untreated only gets worse, not better with time.”

Star also says that Owen was rushed to Cedars-Sinai in June for being tired, thin and lethargic. During that visit,

quote-pic“He was dehydrated. He hadn’t slept for days. He wasn’t taking care of himself — too much partying. His brother Andrew insisted he go to Cedars and brought him there. The doctors wanted to admit Owen, but Owen didn’t want to stay. The doctors told Owen to take time off and enjoy life.”

Now Owen’s hospitalization is creating conspiracy theories similar to the Sports Illustrated one (you know, if you’re on the cover of SI, you start to suck). Jezebel is talking about the “Elle Curse”.
Remember how Lindsay Lohan interviewed with Elle the day before her big bust? Well, apparently Owen Wilson interviewed with Elle on Thursday, and some paranoid people at the magazine are worried that celebs will start to think their cursed.

And in another strange twist of fate, it looks like life may be immitating art for Owen. USA Today’s Lifeline Live reveals some strange coincidences between Owen’s upcoming flick, “The Darjeeling Limited”.

quote-picWilson spends the whole movie limping along with his face bandaged, stitched and scarred, the result of a horrible motorcycle crash, which is only described in the film. All the brothers guzzle over-the-counter painkillers and cough syrup to mask the hurt and disappointment in their lives. But his control-freak trip organizer character, outwardly upbeat and hopeful much like Wilson himself, seems the most troubled of the trio.

Meanwhile, Celebrity Smack provides us the statement released by Owen,

“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”
