Adrianne Curry Boycotts Black History Month

Adrianne Curry Should NOT Be Given a Media Outlet - PIC

I am not going to comment and I’m not going to post her entire rant. You can click here if you want to read the whole blog entry. But Adrianne Curry has a talent, she looks good in a photograph. She should not, however, try to philosophize on any subject of importance. Here’s what she decided to say:

quote-picMY Boycott against BET and Black History Month

Because of my last blog, and all the wonderful feedback I got..it made me think…

This is gonna be hard guys. I LOVE the comedians on BET. I also LOVE the fact that they play my favorite show of all time, In Living Color. However, I do not believe in seperating ANY RACE in America. WE ARE AMERICANS! How dare we have Black History Month! In my eyes, the Native Americans deserve it MUCH more, seeing how we destroyed their ENTIRE SOCIETY. There are hardly any of them left! They also have been proven to have the WORST living conditions on their reservations. I want AN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH. One where we learn about EVERY race, ALL OF OUR LEADERS, EVERYONE! I think by having a month dedicated to one race, and not one for any other, is RACIST. Every fund set up to only help people of one race is SICK and RACIST.

By they way, is it February?

Push past the ranting and you’ll find she has a valid point. Try and put out a white history month or the United White College fund…Next thing you know, ‘ol Rev Sharpton will be banging on your door.

What’s so wrong with African Americans wanting to celebrate their culture and history? If you and Adrianne suggest boycotting BET or Black History Month, you might as well boycott Univision and the Latin Grammys while you’re at it. Make no mistake; BET and Black History Month were formed not to facilitate racism, but out of necessity. If there were more African Americans represented in the media in more diverse ways, then we wouldn’t need a month to celebrate our history or a channel celebrating our culture. White America already has the major television networks where 90-95% of the personalities are white. Not to mention, there are certain details about the history of my people I wouldn’t have learned if it wasn’t for Black History Month bringing it to my attention.

I don’t believe that BET should be marked as a racist entity, but this constant cultural wall that envelops us will never come down while favoritism exists towards the “minorities”. Those in power are those that were raised with the late 50′s and early 60′s mentality towards ethnicity. Labeling is becoming stagnant. We must embrace change in order to make it effective. Just look at who is a front runner in the democratic primary! The ideals exposed in Jena, LA exist because of a number of nitwits that have failed to change…It’s tired – just as much as Kanye West whining that he never wins because he’s black. Times are changing…As should we.

every month IS white history month. white culture IS the dominant culture. that’s the reason BET exists. and Black History month. you don’t learn about real black history in school.
