Nude Polish Women Party

For reasons not entirely clear to me, some women from the Polish Women’s Party posed nude to make a political statement:

Ubrane czy nagie nie jesteÅ›my tylko obiektem seksualnym. Mamy twarze, oczy, myÅ›li i przekonania, ktÃ³rych potrafimy broniÄ‡.

Okay, it’s not so helpful.

Alex Massie provides this, which isn’t so much a translation as an explanation:

“We are beautiful, nude, proud. We are true and sincere, body and soul. This is not pornography, there is nothing to see in terms of sex, our faces are intelligent, concerned, proud. We do not have our mouths open nor our eyes closed… All that interests us is the future, the position of women in society. We will open the archives of the former secret communist agents, we will make known their corrupt affairs,” says party president Manuela Gretkowska.

I’m not sure that posing nude really furthers any of that. On the other hand, this is certainly more attention than I’ve paid the Polish Women’s Party in quite some time.
