Joaquin Phoenix Must Have Been In A Bad Mood

Joaquin Phoenix Must Have Been In A Bad Mood - PIC

Joaquin Phoenix just isn’t a very good interviewer – if you want to be famous, you have to play the game, man. The other day, during an interview with Laura Leu of Time Out New York, she asked how he prepared for his role as a drug-addled nightclub manager in “We Own the Night”.

Joaquin’s response:

quote-pic“I never prepare. I think that’s completely overrated. It’s a very simple job. All you have to do is . . . stand in the right spot and say the line. So I don’t really believe in preparation.”

When Leu pressed, “But you prepared for ‘Ladder 49′ by training with a fire academy,” Phoenix replied,

quote-pic“I just said that because I thought it would sound good to the press. I don’t know why it seems to be of note that actors do any kind of preparation. It’s just what you’re supposed to do in your [bleep]ing job. Do you think that because you did some research you deserve some special credit?”

Then he hung up on her.

Leu was supposed to have 30 minutes with the actor and only got 10. Nice, Joaquin. And in still more news from the “We Own the Night” set, Robert Duvall says that he called Joaquin “Wacko” while filming. Apparently Joaquin had a habit of teasing Duvall to the point of irritation, with Duvall saying, “He worked hard at being crazy.”

I never would have thought Joaquin was such an ass. I guess you never can tell.

What others are saying:

  • Mollygood says, “For someone supposedly raised under the tolerant canopy of free love and unyielding peace, Joaquin Phoenix is oddly ornery.”
  • Best Week Ever says, “He later reneged, saying that he prefers the Meisner school of acting to the Costner one.”
  • A Socialite’s Life says, “What’s up his ass? If you don’t want to publicize movies, don’t do it! Just don’t! However, it might result in no one going to see them. Just choose – one or the other. Why are you being rude to people? You privileged dickhead!”
