50 Cent’s House Burns Down

A raging fire that one fire official called “definitely suspicious” gutted a Dix Hills home owned by the Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent Friday morning, sending six people inside the house to the hospital.

quote4_thumbnail8.jpgThe home at 2 Sandra Dr., purchased by the rapper in January 2007 for a reported $1.4 million, is one of the largest in Dix Hills — and has been at the center of a lawsuit between 50 Cent and his ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins.

Among the injured, all of whom suffered smoke inhalation according to fire officials, were Tompkins, and their 11-year-old son, Marquise, her two other children, her aunt and aunt’s child. They were all treated at Huntington Hospital and later released.

At the hospital Friday, Tompkins said she was in an upstairs bedroom when she said she heard something crash through a window downstairs — and she scrambled to wake everyone and get them all out of the burning house.

Last month, 50 Cent tried to throw out Shaniqua and his son from the home. He told her to pay him $4,500 in rent or she had to leave the home. Shaniqua filed a lawsuit claiming 50 promised to put the $1.4 million house in her name. [tmz has video of the fight]

So did 50 hire someone to set the house on fire? I certainly hope not, since his own son was in the home. Shaniqua said she heard someone broke into the house at 4:00 a.m., before the fire.

50 Cent’s spokes person issued this statement to TMZ,

“Informed this morning while filming a new motion picture on location in Louisiana, Curtis Jackson expressed deep concern over this fire at his property. He is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely. He is confident that authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and is eager to review their findings.”

How about “I certainly hope not” followed by a period and without a qualifier concerning his son. Gee, would it have been ok if only his son had been somewhere else?
