Russell Brand Calls George Bush a ‘Retarded Cowboy’

Russell Brand faces being blacklisted by the American media after causing outrage with a string of offensive jokes at the live MTV Video Music Awards.

The Essex-born comedian labeled President George Bush a ‘retard’, called Britney Spearsthe female Christ‘ and poked fun at young virgins.

Brand, 33, who was hosting the ceremony live, had already been forbidden by MTV bosses to mention the C-word or, more bizarrely, Scientology.

He began his opening monologue by saying: ‘Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world. Some people, I think they’re called racists, say America is not ready for a black president.

‘But I know America to be a forward-thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years?’

He added: ‘We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because in England he wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.’

Onlookers caught sight of Britney Spears sitting straight-faced in the audience and refusing to clap.

I’m so sure only the Republicans are complaining to. What a spoiled group of dirty players. If it was the other way around they would be laughing.

I think Russell Brand is hilarious - he’s a comic genius.

MTV must have known what to expect when they booked him to host the VMA’s, after all they fired him a few years ago for arriving at work dressed as Osama Bin Laden!

He is a comedian, anything and everything he says is a joke!
Obviously the people who were offended by him don’t have a sense of humour.

My only disappointment about Russell at the VMA’s is that, unusually for him, he apologised for the purity ring comments.

Russell Brand rocks - I hope he doesn’t change in an attempt to please middle minded, middle America.
It’s only comedy people, get over it!

Russell Brand was the highlight of the VMAs. Almost everyone was trying too hard in performances–all bells and whistles. He was rapid-fire with his insults. That’s what comics do.

I guess I find it troubling that no one is bothered that he used the word “retarded.” If he had said the n word before cowboy, or faggot cowboy or spic cowboy people would be up in arms. Why is it okay to say “retarded cowboy?” Maybe because people living with cognitive impairment can’t defend themselves? Don’t think for a second it doesn’t hurt them. All slurs hurt and directed at the most vulnerable of our society makes it even worse. Russell Banks is a bully.

He wasn’t funny at all.. And his opening was ridiculous.. Pleading with people to vote for Obama. Give me a break. I am an independent voter, not that it matters..but I do NOT want anyone telling me who to vote for …PERIOD.

The whole show was an epic fail..mostly because of the host.

It was suckfest ‘08.
