Wild, Wacky & True: ‘Pole’ Tax For Strip Clubs?

The New York legislator who brought the nation its first law against driving while using a cell phone is at it again.

For all of you guys out there who like strip clubs, Felix Ortiz is probably not your favorite guy. He is the guy who wants to impose a $10 tax for patrons of nude and semi-nude dance clubs and strip joints.

Ortiz says that the revenue generated from the tax would go toward helping victims of human trafficking. Fortunately, at this time, the bill doesn’t have a Senate sponsor just yet.

Similarly, in Texas, state lawyers are fighting to keep their $5 pole tax intact. That fee is a cover charge on strip clubs, which saw Texans trying to spend that money on sexual assault and health insurance programs.

It was later declared unconstitutional. These pole taxes need to go by the wayside already, if anyone expects the strippers to make any kind of money.
