Beastie Boys Adam Yauch Has ‘Treatable’ Cancer – Video
One-third of the Beastie Boys, Adam “MCA” Yauch has just revealed that he has cancer. The Beastie Boys have delayed the release of their upcoming album, “Hot Sauce Committee” after the rapper found out that he has cancer in his left parotid, or salivary gland.
Yauch and fellow Beastie Adam Horowitz announced the news earlier today, stating that the cancer is “very treatable.”
He said that he noticed a “little lump” in his throat about two months ago, which prompted him to talk to his doctor.
He said, “He sent me to a specialist and they did tests and I actually have a form of cancer in the parotid gland and a lymph node. I am going to have surgery next week and then after that have some radiation localized in that area. The good news is that they did scans in my body and it’s only localized in that one area, not in a place that affects my voice. It’s a little bit of a setback. It’s a pain in the ass but it’s something that’s very treatable and in most cases they’re able to get rid of it completely.”

Their album was set to hit stores on September 15, 2009, but has now been pushed back to an undetermined date. Get well soon, Adam!
