Miley Cyrus’ Pole Dancing Causes Debate

Did you see this years Teen Choice Awards? If so then you may have seen Miley Cyrus doing a little bit of pole dancing while singing “Party In The USA”

During the performance Miley jumped on top of an ice cream cart and then on a pole attached, showed off her pole dancing skills.

This as you can imagine has gone down badly with critics and parents of her young fans who are all giving out hell.

Wendi Fischer, a child psychologist, says “she’s sending this message that this is ‘OK’ to do, and I don’t think it is OK to do, Miley’s only 16. Why is she rushing it?”

But like Us Magazine’s senior editor, Ian Drew, points out – we should have all seen this happening. He says, “she already has this risque image, so it really wasn’t much of a stretch, that’s how Britney Spears took off. She was the good girl gone bad, and it looks to be working for Miley as well.”

Fox (who broadcast the TCA’s) and Miley’s record label both refused to comment on it. Disney however said “Disney Channel won’t be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience – kids 6-14 – and consistent with what our brand values are.”

Ed Norwick, who owns stripclub Scores in New York said “while Miley did show off some skills, we at SCORES cannot encourage this kind of behavior for women under the legal age.”

So what do you think, is it all fine for Miley Cyrus to be doing this or is she sending the wrong message to her fans? Either way, I agree with Ian Drew - we all should have expected something like this.
