Ashley Alexandra DuprÃ© is finally getting her photo opportunity in Playboy in an effort jump-start her career â€” any career â€” after she rocketed to infamy for taking down NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer in a call-girl sex scandal.

DuprÃ© was caught up in an investigation of Spitzer in 2008 after his name surfaced in an investigation of a New Jersey call-girl ring. Spitzer, who spent thousands of dollars for DuprÃ©â€™s services, was forced to resign from office.

At the time, she was a struggling singer who drifted into a â€œGirls Goneâ€ Wild video and other escapades before the Spitzer scandal vaulted her to national notoriety.

DuprÃ©, 24, initially shunned an offer to appear in Playboy to concentrate on her music. But that effort apparently went nowhere, while she became snared in a highly publicized bridge-and-tunnel affair with a married New Jersey neighbor.

Her decision to appear in Playboy appears to be a last-ditch attempt to regain the spotlight, and cash-in on the notoriety.

Say what you will about her past, at least DuprÃ© is comfortable in her own skin. She said the nude photo shoot was a pleasant experience.

â€œI had a lot of fun doing these pictures. Youâ€™re naked and youâ€™re in front of a bunch of guys, good-looking guys, too. Manly men.â€

Dupre, who looks fit in the sizzling eight-page pictorial, confesses sheâ€™s ashamed of her call-girl career.

â€œSome people call me the girl who brought down the governor of New York, but in reality, he brought me down.

I was an escort. As much as I wish I could make that go away, I canâ€™t.

I watched my dreams of a singing career flash before my eyes. I saw the hurt in his wifeâ€™s eyes. I felt as if I had jumped off a building. I couldnâ€™t breathe. I was dead.â€

Before the Playboy shoot, the only benefit to come Ashleyâ€™s way out of the scandal was a writing gig with The New York Post. She gives sex and dating advice.
