Catherine Zeta-Jones Treated for Bipolar Disorder

Catherine Zeta-Jones checked herself into the Silver Hill Hospital near New Canaan, Connecticut last week to help deal with her bipolar disorder as well as trying to help her get over the stress she has been under the past year.

While everybody was congratulating her husband, Michael Douglas, at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art for beating the cancer he had battled the past year people were wondering where she was but then it was reported she had checked herself into a facility for help. Then her rep released a statement which read:

“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder, she’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films.”

Catherine is now out of the facility but a friend said that she “has had to deal with Michael’s illness, and that’s been hard.” I know it’s easy for some people to make a joke about it but I really can’t blame her for needing some help after dealing with the past year and bipolar is not an easy thing to beat. That family sure has had a shitty year haven’t they?
