Here’s the long awaited list of the Top 11 Scandals of 2007. Wait until you see where Vanessa Hudgens makes the list!
Sex, drugs, vulgarity, criminality and even diapers. Public figures have served up a smorgasbord of bad behavior this year.
11) Sen. Larry Craig
“I am not gay.” So said Sen. Larry Craig after he was caught in an airport men’s room sex sting. The Idaho Republican pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. At first, he said he intended to quit. Now he says he’ll finish his term.
10) Michael Vick
Michael Vick’s reputation was mauled by pit bulls in July. He faces prison after pleading guilty to dogfighting. The Falcons quarterback is suspended and stands to lose tens of millions in ad deals and bonus money.
9) Don Imus
8) Lisa Nowak (aka Crazy Diaper Wearin Bitch)
Lisa Nowak’s NASA career crashed in February when she was arrested in Orlando. Cops say she raced 1,000 miles to kidnap a rival for the love of a fellow astronaut. Whether that drive was diaper-assisted is in dispute.
See the rest after the jump!!
7) Sgt. John Shannon
Wounded Iraq War vet Staff Sgt. John Shannon testified in March about patient neglect and shoddy conditions at Walter Reed Medical Center. The scandal cost the hospital commander and Army secretary their jobs.
6) Scooter Libby
“Scooter” Libby was convicted in March of lying in the CIA leak case. Vice President Cheney’s former chief of staff was sentenced to 30 months in prison. President Bush commuted the sentence, calling it “excessive.”
5) Mike Nifong
The rape case against Duke lacrosse players blew up in his face, and Mike Nifong went from prosecutor to prosecuted. He was disbarred, resigned as Durham County’s district attorney and served one day in jail for contempt of court.
4) Marion Jones
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Marion Jones tearfully admitted in October that she used steroids. Jones pleaded guilty to felony charges, gave up the medals she won at the 2000 Games and retired from her sport.
3) Sen. David Vitter
Sen. David Vitter had the dubious distinction of being the biggest name on a Washington escort service’s phone list. In July, the Louisiana Republican said God and his wife had forgiven him for “a very serious sin.” He remains in office.
2) Vanessa Hudgens
When nude photos of Vanessa Hudgens surfaced in September, there were rumors that Disney would dump the ‘High School Musical’ star. Hudgens apologized and now she’s said to be on board for the third film in the series. I’ll believe it when I see it.
1) Miss New Jersey
Claiming she was being blackmailed, Miss New Jersey went on the offense. Amy Polumbo appeared on TV in July to reveal photos she admitted were not “ladylike.” Miss Teen USA officials decided not to strip her of her title.

Amy Polumbo, Miss New Jersey, is fighting to keep her crown because a blackmailer has exposed some sexy photos she had posted on Facebook.
Miss New Jersey, trying to keep her crown in the midst of an alleged blackmail attempt, released photos Thursday showing her “not in a ladylike manner.” She said, “I feel sick to my stomach.”
“I want to end this,” Amy Polumbo said on NBC’s “Today” show hours before she was to meet with pageant officials who will decide whether she will represent the Garden State in the Miss America pageant.
The pictures include one showing what Polumbo said was her boyfriend apparently biting her breast through her shirt, another of Polumbo in a limousine wearing jeans with her legs spread in the air, and another of her in what appears to be a Halloween costume dress holding two small pumpkins up to her breasts. “It’s not in a ladylike manner. I’m not a robot. I’m a human being,” Polumbo said.
There were also photos of Polumbo drinking, but the 22-year-old college student said she was of legal age when they were taken.
Polumbo said she didn’t think the pictures should lead to the loss of her crown but said other people might interpret them differently. “What I think is OK, someone else’s eyebrows could be raised,” she said.
Polumbo’s lawyer, Anthony Caruso, said that a person or persons claiming to be The Committee to Save Miss America threatened to make the photos public unless she resigned her title. “Amy and I are very optimistic that the pageant committee will take the proper course and support her,” Caruso said.
The photos were taken from Polumbo’s former Facebook Web page, which has since been taken offline. Polumbo described many of the photos as they were shown. Of the shot of her boyfriend appearing to bite her breast through her shirt, she said, “He’s being silly and immature. This was meant to be private. It was not accessible to the general public. It was supposed to be between my friends and I.”
The directors will decide whether the photos violate a morals clause in the contract that Miss America hopefuls sign when entering the pageant or its state contests. At least two of the board’s five directors said this week they don’t consider the photos to be a big problem. One board member, Mark Soifer, described the photos as “kids having a good time at a party.”

Miss New Jersey has received a second threatening package from someone trying to blackmail her into relinquishing her crown, her attorney says.
Anthony Caruso, an attorney for Amy Polumbo, said that he was notified about the package Saturday and that it contained a threatening letter and possibly new photographs of the 22-year-old woman.
Caruso would not comment Sunday on the exact contents of the package or say who received it, but said he had given it to state investigators.
Polumbo announced Thursday that someone was trying to blackmail her with old photographs and demanding that she give up her crown by Friday. The student at Wagner College in New York did not step down and has declined to comment publicly beyond her announcement.
Caruso did not say what the first set of photos showed, but he said Friday said that it was the captions on the photographs that troubled Polumbo, not the images. He would not reveal what the captions said.
The first runner-up to Polumbo in the Miss New Jersey pageant in June denied any involvement in the blackmail scheme and said she hoped the scandal wouldn’t affect future competitions.
“I wish only the best for Amy and her family at this time,” Ronica Licciardello told the New York Post and New York Daily News.
A spokesman for the New Jersey attorney general said Friday that his office would not confirm an investigation. The phone rang unanswered Sunday in a call to another spokesman.
Polumbo is to represent New Jersey in the next Miss America pageant.
