Burger King’s ad campaigns have become incredibly weird and uncomfortable in recent years, particularly the spots featuring a disturbing big-headed King mascot. In its latest and most inappropriate (depending upon whom you ask) offering, Burger King is currently targeting British men with a crude and base promotion that has nothing to do with food or the hamburger chain.
The U.K. ‘Burger King Presents… Singing in the Shower’ Web site features a bikini-clad model who belts out popular tunes while cavorting in the shower. Viewers can actually vote on upcoming songs and bikinis, which, of course, feature predictable and lame double-entendres that incorporate words like “buns.”

The campaign definitely seems to have been initiated by pubescent boys, as the site offers the childish tag-line of “Watch our shower babe shake her bits to the hits.” Real classy, BK. Check out the site’s current vid, as long as you meet the easily bypassed age-requirement, to see BK give new meaning to “treating women like a piece of meat.”

The folks at Burger King seem to think that they are so clever. They’ve put up an ad on FOX NFL Sunday poking fun at Jessica Simpson.
They’re not using the crisis surrounding her dead dog, but it’s almost as bad. Their entire commercial centers around her weight issues.
Check out the spot, below:
It seems amazing to me how they could even slap their name on something like this. How are they going to poke fun at Jessica for her weight, which seems relatively normal, and then encourage all of us to go out and get a Whopper?
This is just plain obnoxious. Fatties, take your business elsewhere, Burger King is just going to make fun of you, after you’re all done, smashing those fries and your Diet Coke.
Back in ’92 when Sir Mix-A-Lotdropped “Baby Got Back” it caused a minor controversy with some due to its provocative lyrics and asstastic video, which was banned from MTV for a spell. But what a difference 17 years makes.
Today “Baby Got Back” is considered to be a Hip Hop classic and has been fully embraced by the mainstream–to its detriment.
Just take this new Burger King commercial, for example. If you thought those McDonald’s souled out commercials were bad, then you’re really going to love (read: hate) this. “Baby Got Back” has been rewritten to promote Burger King’s BK Kids Meal with SpongeBob SquarePants toys inside. Pause. Mix-A-Lot is even on board to perform the rap while the Burger King mascot does a few urban dance moves surrounded by female dancers with square shaped hind parts.
This commercial is so bad it’s comical, but in an uneasy, “Hip Hop is dead” kind of way. And this line from Sir Mix-A-Lot’s rap pretty much sums it up: “SpongeBob I wanna get witcha, cause you’re making me richer.” Sold out, indeed.
