For the past couple of months it looked like it go either way for Michael Douglas but he brought good news to the Today show and told them his tumor is gone. You can watch the interview with Matt Lauer below or if you’re in work and have no sound you can just read what he said here…
“I feel good, relieved. The tumor is gone. But, you know, I have to check out on a monthly basis now to maintain. I think the odds are with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer [is] that I’ve got it beat. I have to check out on a monthly basis now to maintain. I guess there’s not a total euphoria. I’ll probably take a couple of months of getting checked out. But it’s been a wild six-month ride. All of a sudden the affection from my family, from my friends, and from my fans hit me at a much deeper level than I would have ever imagined before. And it gave me a really new appreciation of just how valuable, how precious good friends are and family. And it’s not that I disregarded them before but there’s a much deeper feeling.”
He also said that he is working to gain all the weight back that he lost so he can get back to acting, he said around 33lbs and has already put back on 12 of them.

The majority of our nude posts are about the women in Hollywood but here is one for those of you who are into the men – Adam Levine naked for the new issue of British Cosmopolitan.
Adam stripped down and only had a pair of hands covering his bits to help encourage men to check testicular and prostate cancer. I don’t know how this is to promote men to check for cancers but hey it’s a naked post so enjoy.

Aretha Franklin is battling cancer, a family friend has announced to FOX 2 News in Detroit.
According to the report, family and friends close to the Queen of Soul are “very concerned,” but say she is doing “okay.” Family expressed hopes to FOX that fans of Aretha, 68, will send prayers and good thoughts.
In a post at PopCrunch, a National Enquirer story (not available online) is cited saying Franklin’s cancer is pancreatic. The same report notes sources saying Aretha has less than a year to live.
“Though the Enquirer is known for its often-outlandish take on unbiased journalism,” PopCrunch writes, “it should be noted that the publication was the first in the world to report Patrick Swayze and Michael Landon’s battles with pancreatic cancer, a disease that has a less than 10 percent survival rate and ultimately killed both actors. They also blew the lid off Christina Applegate’s breast cancer scare in 2008.”
FOX 2 in Detroit was unable to confirm the specific type of cancer. Franklin underwent a “highly successful” surgery last week, though the cause was not revealed.
“God is still in control,” Aretha’s post-surgery statement read. “I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country.”
News of Franklin’s unspecified operation came a month after she announced the cancellation of all concert dates and personal appearances through May on the order of her doctors. That announcement came after Franklin’s brief visit to a Detroit hospital — no details were given about her condition at the time.
It’s been a difficult several months for Franklin; her adult son, Eddie, was beaten by three men at a Detroit gas station in September. A month earlier, she broke ribs in a fall, causing her to miss two free concerts in New York.
Aretha Franklin, born in Memphis and raised in Detroit, is the singer of hits like ‘Respect,’ ‘Chain of Fools,’ and ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.’
Elizabeth Edwards, the estranged wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, has been advised by doctors that “further treatment of her cancer would be unproductive,” according to a statement from the Edwards family.
A source close to the family told CBS News, “She is dying.” The source said Edwards would likely die within weeks and possibly days. Edwards, 61, posted to her personal Facebook page a message to friends reading in part, “The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that.”
CBS News has confirmed that the Edwards family, including husband John, are now gathered with Elizabeth Edwards at the family home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope,” Edwards wrote in the Facebook post. “These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined.”
“…there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like,” she added. “It’s called being human. But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful. It isn’t possible to put into words the love and gratitude I feel to everyone who has and continues to support and inspire me every day. To you I simply say: you know.”
When ‘Dexter’ star Michael C. Hall was diagnosed with a potentially deadly form of cancer last year, he thought his worst nightmare might be coming true.
The actor says he had always wondered whether he’d live to be 39, the age at which his father died of prostate cancer when he was just a little boy. Hall was 38 when he found out he had Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“I think I’ve been preoccupied since I was 11, and my father died, with the idea of the age 39: Would I live that long? What would that be like?” Hall told The New York Times. “To discover that I had the Hodgkin’s was alarming, but at the same time I felt kind of bemused, like: Wow. Huh. How interesting.”
But his 39th birthday came and went in February, with Hall’s cancer in remission. The actor, who plays a sympathetic serial killer on the hit Showtime series, had announced the previous month that he was undergoing chemotherapy.
To discover he’d developed a disease that could be fatal shortly before his 39th birthday while he was starring in a show about death seemed like a doubly uncanny coincidence.
Hall was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma while he was in the midst of filming the fourth season of ‘Dexter.’ He says he kept his illness a secret on the set. Shortly after he disclosed that he had cancer, he accepted a best actor Golden Globe wearing a knitted cap, since the chemo had left him bald. Many in the audience were moved to tears.
The effects of the treatment have now completely worn off. Hall says he feels newly energized.
But the actor doesn’t think it’s happenstance that the characters he’s played on TV have a tendency toward repression — first the closed-off funeral director David Fisher on ‘Six Feet Under’ and now the reserved, guarded Dexter Morgan on ‘Dexter.’
Hall speculates that it’s because he, too, is repressed.
“Maybe it has to do with not knowing quite what to do with the storm of feelings that accompanied my father’s death. Maybe it’s a learned behavior,” he told the Times. “Now I’m taking it to the bank.”
Louis Gossett Jr., who took home the golden prize in 1982 for An Officer and a Gentleman, announced today that he’s been diagnosed with the early stages of prostate cancer.
The 73-year-old claims he wants the world to know in order “to set an example for the large number of African-American men who are victims of this disease because of the comparatively low emphasis in our community on preventative examinations and early treatment,” he told KTLA News in Los Angeles. “I want to influence them to seek, as I have, the fine medical care and early detection now available.”
Here’s hoping he has a speedy recovery.

Many of you probably don’t know who Amanda Holden is, she is a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
Well she has decided to strip down to nothing but her panties and a pair of shoes covering her boobs, all for a charity campaign to raise money for cancer.
If you get past her surgery – Amanda Holden is pretty hot, I think it should be a law that every hot women should be forced to wear their shoes like this.

Ryan O’Neal gave an update on Farrah Fawcett‘s status at the world premiere of her documentary, “Farrah’s Story,” in Los Angeles last night.
“[She's] wonderful, hopeful and proud of this that we helped her make it,” O’Neal told ET on the red carpet. Asked if she would be well enough to see the documentary herself when it airs on Friday night, O’Neal said yes.
The actor was also asked if he would wed Fawcett, after revealing recently that he loves the actress more than ever.
“I’d do that, I would do that. She’s still a little bit hesitant. I’m working though, I’m working.
You know she’s been married, I’ve been married. She’s said, ‘We have a good thing.’ But I said ‘you said that 30 years ago, shouldn’t there be a sea change?’ Maybe there is, you never know.”
Over the past week, O’Neal has spoken publicly after his decades-long relationship with Fawcett, most notably to Meredith Vieira on ‘Today. O’Neal had been optimistic five-to-six months ago. “She was athletic, healthy and hungry and beautiful,” O’Neal says. But then he knew things were wrong after a walk on the beach five to six months ago when Fawcett had to turn around because she wasn’t feeling well.
Fawcett’s documentary features the actress telling the camera directly that she’s relied on a combination of chemotherapy, radiation and prayer during her three year battle with cancer.
“I want to stay alive. So I say to God, because it is, after all, in His hands, ‘It is seriously time for a miracle,’ “says Fawcett. “Of all the things I’ve ever hoped for in my life, finding a doctor to surgically remove my anal cancer did not even make the top one million on my list.”
Meanwhile, TMZ reports exclusively that a man who claims to be responsible for the Farrah Fawcett documentary is suing Ryan O’Neal and others, claiming he was aced out of the project and O’Neal “physically threatened him.”
Sitting in the bath with shaved hair, and naked – Jade Goody bared all about the effects of her cancer treatment in her new TV show last night.
In the first episode of Jade, the brave Big Brother star is shown receiving radiotherapy treatment, discussing the painful after-effects of her hysterectomy and chemotherapy, and breaking down in tears as she struggles to battle with cervical cancer.
Jade said in documentary:
‘I am not embarrassed to talk about things. I feel better when I talk about it.
Personally being told I got something at such a young age with two kids and I have no control over, it just makes me think I don’t care what people think about me or what they say, or judge me.’

The 27-year-old beautician – whose boyfriend Jack Tweed is in prison for assault – is shown visiting the Royal Marsden cancer hospital for radiotherapy.
Afterwards Jade spoke frankly about the effects on her body. She said: ‘Oh my god, I am not in pain the radiotherapy gurgles in my stomach. I just feel like I am a 27-year-old in a 50-year-old’s body – I had an operation that took my womb out.
‘Sometimes you get really horrible sensations in your private parts and your bottom, sorry.’
Last week I posted a story that alleged Patrick Swayze had taken a turn for the worse and was about to die, it turns out that it isn’t true.
The story also claimed that Swayze had been saying goodbye to all his family and friends after doctors told him it was the “countdown to the end.”
In a statement to People, the actor says that he is not dying and the only trouble he is having is the tabloids.
The 56-year-old says, “I’m very proud of the work I’ve done on my new series The Beast, and I am happy to be back home for the holidays. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment to say you’re gonna do something and do it. The only thorn in my side being that many tabloids have been consistently reporting lies and false information about me and those close to me. And latest, they’re reporting that I’m on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family! Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life. It’s a battle, and so far, I’ve been winning. I’m one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment.”

He goes on to say, “it’s upsetting that the shoddy and reckless reporting from these publications cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I’m fighting. For me, my family, and those close to me, it amounts to downright emotional cruelty. That makes me angry when hope is so precious. As always, I appreciate all the love and support people have sent and continue to send my way. I thank you.”
That’s got to be tough on Patrick Swayze and his family having different stories about his cancer being released, but like I said last time – since he was spotted smoking while in chemotherapy (see the other post) it wouldn’t surprise me much.
A source said that he “knew it was coming because he was suffering increased weakness. At times, he was so weak that he could barely walk without feeling faint. Sometimes he feels out of breath and has to sit down.”
When he told his wife Lisa, she called up his brother Donny who is “in Los Angeles and told him he need to come to Chicago, where Patrick has been filming TV show The Beast. She was crying and scared Donny to death. Donny got the impression his brother was already on his deathbed because Lisa was saying Patrick wanted to say goodbye. She couldn’t stop crying.”

The actor, who has been undergoing chemotherapy, was looking like he was on the ups and making a full recovery was told he had pancreatic cancer back in January.
I feel bad for Patrick Swayze and his family, however he was spotted smoking while in chemotherapy (see thumbnails) so I aren’t entirely surprised his cancer has gotten worse.
