Sally Menke, the editor of Quentin Tarantino’s movies, has been found dead along a Los Angeles hiking trail earlier today.
Police searched the area in Griffith Park late last night looking for her, using bloodhounds and a chopper. She was said to be hiking down the trail with a friend when they got separated. The friend notified authorities after being unable to locate Sally.
They were hiking during the hottest day in downtown L.A., when it got to 113 degrees. It hasn’t been determined if that was the official cause of death or if there were other circumstances that led to her death.
CNN reports:
Menke edited Tarantino’s biggest movies, including last year’s “Inglourious Basterds,” for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. She also was nominated for an Oscar for editing Tarantino’s 1995 film “Pulp Fiction.”
Other Tarantino films edited by Menke included “Death Proof,” both “Kill Bill” films, “Jackie Brown” and “Reservoir Dogs.”
Before working with Tarantino, Menke edited the 1990 film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
She was 57-years-old. Rest in peace, Sally.

Gloria Stuart, who is mostly known from starring as an older version of Rose in the movie, “Titanic”, has passed away. She passed away last night in her home. She was 100.
The Washington Post reports:
She had been diagnosed with lung cancer several years ago, said her daughter Sylvia Thompson, who confirmed the death.
In the role of a 101-year-old Titanic survivor, Ms. Stuart narrated the James Cameron-directed film and served as the lynchpin of its past and present-day storylines. Her effective portrayal of a feisty, headstrong character made her the oldest actress to ever be nominated for an Academy Award.

Stuart later said that she related with her comeback character of Titanic’s 100 year old Rose saying that she herself was an old woman whose heart was filled with love and she later said of this; “I think that’s the important thing,if you’re full of love, admiration, appreciation of the beautiful things there are in this life, you have it made, really. And I have it made.”[6]

It’s a sad sad week for actor Martin Short. His wife Nancy has passed away on Saturday at their home in the Pacific Palisades.
In 2007, she was diagnosed with cancer and it was also found that she had a growth in her groin area. It wasn’t clear if her death was related to the cancer as of yet, as autopsy results are still pending.
The L.A. City Fire Department was called at around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and spent roughly 30 minutes at the Short home. They were unable to resuscitate her and did not take her to a hospital. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The couple met in 1972 and have three adult children together. Such a tragedy. RIP Nancy Short. Our condolences to the family in this tough time.

Not long after Brittany Murphy died her mother, Sharon, and husband, Simon Monjack, started going around to all the media outlets together. A lot of people thought something fishy was going on between them, those people are going to love this because it seems the pair were sharing a bed.
The L.A. Coroner’s Office released their report on Simon’s death and according to TMZ when investigators were searching the master bedroom in Brittany and Simon’s house, Sharon pointed to one side of his bed and said it was her”side of the bed.”
Prescription bottles were also found in the nightstand with the names Sharon Murphy and Sharon Monjack on them, Sharon told the investigators the pills belonged to her.
TMZ say that the report doesn’t suggest sexual contact between them, which could be true I mean I guess they just wanted to comfort each other after Brittany Murphy‘s death? But I know anytime I’ve hopped in a bed with someone it’s not to comfort them. You be the judge for yourself.

Before Brittany Murphy‘s husband Simon Monjack died he apparently spent 80% of the money she left behind when she died.
Murphy died in December and then Monjack died in May, both of the same causes, but in between that time he apparently spent most of his wife’s cash reserves according to her former business manager Jeffery Morgenroth. He says…
“There were huge amounts of money in [Brittany's] pension plan and bank account, and all of that’s gone, I would see it on the statements. There was money being withdrawn by Simon, hundreds of thousands.”
This leaves Murphy’s mother, Sharon, in financial uncertainty and she apparently got into a fight with Monjack’s mother, Linda, after he died because Linda told Sharon to leave the couple’s house in Hollywood and is now trying to claim everything.
If all of this is true then it seems that being a fraud and douchebag runs in the Monjack genes. I’m sure this is not the last we will be hearing about all this.

The Los Angeles County Coroner has revealed that Simon Monjack died from the same two causes as his wife Brittany Murphy.
Monjack was found dead in the couple’s home in Hollywood just five months after his wife died in the same house. They both died from acute pneumonia and severe anemia.
Ed Winter, the Coroner Assistant Chief, said that “just like Brittany” there was some prescription drugs were found in his system but not in lethal levels. His family are requesting for another test to take place before the full autopsy report will be released.
That is all kind of freaky that they both died in the same house from the exact same causes and so soon to each other.

Tomorrow marks the first year since Michael Jackson died so expect to hear his music and see photos of him everywhere again, but here is some money news regarding the king of pop – he has earned $1 billion since his death.
Billboard say that Jackson’s estate sky rocketed after his death and he earned around $429 million alone in music sales because he sold around 33 million albums since his death on top of millions of music downloads and ringtone sales.
Then there was around $392 million taken in from TV and movie projects, mostly from the Michael Jackson: This Is It documentary which was released late last year.
Other royalty fees which includes ticket sales that were never refunded and his music catalog round up the rest of the money.
I guess it pays to be dead if your someone as big as Michael Jackson, my poor loved ones will only be given the rest of my debt when I die.

The other day it was announced that an unnamed tabloid had bought the photos of Gary Coleman on his deathbed, we now know that Globe is the magazine.
This is disgusting and I can’t believe that Shannon Price actually pulled a trick like this for a mere $10,000. Yes you read that right, she took photos of her ex-husband on his deathbed and sold them for just $10,000.
The uncensored photo is after the jump below and like I said it’s disgusting that a person would both take and sell these photos and it’s equally disgusting a magazine would buy these photos.

Four photos showing Gary Coleman as he is dying in the hospital, plus a photo that was taken of his dead body, are apparently being sold to media outlets around the world.
TMZ say they seen one of the photos and in the photo, which was taken an hour before he died, Coleman lies in bed while hooked up to a ventilation machine with his eyes shut. The photo of his dead body was taken an hour after he died.
The photos are being sold in the low five figures and someone will most likely buy these photos and then sadly publish them for us all to see, even though we won’t want to see them.
This is absolutely disgusting, who on earth would take photos of a dead body and then start shopping them around to the world. I don’t want to jump to any conclusions but does anybody else have their money on Gary Coleman‘s ex-wife, Shannon Price?

Better known as Alfalfa in the “Our Gang” franchise, Carl’s financial troubles got out of hand once he left Hollywood. In 1959, Carl was fatally shot in the groin after he attempted to rough up someone who owed him money. He was 31.
7. Corey Haim
Beloved teen idol Corey battled a massive drug addiction after his career fizzled in the ’90s. Corey passed away in March of this year due to pneumonia complications. He was 38.
6. Dana Plato
Dana’s death often serves as a touchstone for the tragic death’s of other child star who fell from grace. Like Gary, the “Diff’rent Strokes’ star saw her career fizzle after the hit show and she even resorted to doing pornography. In 1999 she committed suicide. She was 34.
5. Brigette Andersen
Like many other child stars on this list, he adorable star of “Savannah Smiles” faced problems with drug and alcohol. After her career completely fizzled, Brigette became more and more addicted to heroin and other drugs. In 1997 she accidentally overdosed. She was 21.
4. Anissa Jones
Pig-tailed Buffy from “Family Affair” saw her career skyrocket thanks to the show but had trouble finding work after the show was canceled. In 1976 she died in a friend’s home, apparently from an accidental overdose. She was 18.
3. Bobby Driscoll
Cutie-pie Bobby was the original Disney star, and he even won a special Oscar for juvenile acting in 1949. After his Disney career, Bobby became immersed in the New York art scene and was a fixture at Andy Warhol’s Factory. In 1968 he was found dead due to a heart failure in an abandoned tenement in the East Village. He was 31.
2. Judy Garland
Screen legend Judy started acting very early in her life but she shot to superstar status when she starred in “The Wizard of Oz” when she was just 16-years-old. Like most child stars, Judy struggled from a massive drug and alcohol addiction and she attempted suicide on many occasions. In 1969 she died from an apparent accidental overdose in her apartment. She was 47.

The King of Pop got his start as the adorable front-man for The Jackson 5. Eventually Michael achieved international success with his solo career, establishing him as musical legend. Unfortunately, his career was undermined by accusations of pedophilia and financial and legal troubles. In 2009 he died from an apparent prescription drug overdose. He was 50.
This list is missing Judith Barsi, Jonathan Brandis and River Phoenix but I can see why they chose the 10 stars that they did.

Hollywood hellraiser Dennis Hopper died today from complications related to prostate cancer.
In a wildly varied career spanning more than 50 years, Hopper appeared alongside his mentor James Dean in “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Giant” in the 1950s and played maniacs in such films as “Apocalypse Now,” “Blue Velvet” and “Speed.” I particularly enjoyed his role as Christian Slater‘s dad in “True Romance”.
Hopper received two Oscar nominations during his career, one for writing “Easy Rider” and the other for his portrayal of an alcoholic high-school basketball coach in the 1986 drama “Hoosiers.”
Hopper is survived by four children. He was 74.

Sadly, Gary Coleman has succumbed to the injuries sustained earlier this week, and died today at 12:05 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. He died of an intracranial hemorrhage. He was 42 years old.
He had been hospitalized since Wednesday after a fall, then Thursday he slipped into a coma and was placed on life support after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage.
He was pulled of life support this morning and later passed away. His wife Shannon Price and her father were at the hospital with him.

He was two years younger than me, so I quite literally watched him grow up.
Alas, all three of the child actors on that show went on to rather unenviable lives after the series ended. Dana Plato, who played big sister Kimberly Drummond, committed suicide by prescription drugs in May 1999 after years of personal scandal. Todd Bridges, who played big brother Willis Jackson, led a life of crime and drugs before turning his life around in recent years.
Actor Conrad Bain, who played the father, Phillip Drummond, and was ostensibly the star of the show, is retired at 87.

Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was found dead in an Iowa hotel by a maintenance worker who dialed 911. TMZ has obtained the 911 tape in which you can hear the employee tell the operator that it appears Gray died of a “drug overdose” and that his body appeared to have been there for awhile.
The employee also said that there was a hypodermic needle next to the bed and “bottles of pills everywhere”. He stated that Paul’s mother had called the hotel and was concerned about him.

Police are still investigating Paul Gray’s death, and say that there does not appear to be any foul play.

Paul Gray, the bassist from the band Slipknot, was found dead this morning by an employee at the TownePalace Suites in Urbandale, Iowa.
Paul had a history of drug and alcohol problems, and was arrested in June 2003 for possession of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Preliminary findings indicate that his death is related to a drug overdose.
Gray was one of the three founding members of Slipknot’s line-up, and has also filled in as bassist for Unida during their 2003 tour, appeared on Drop Dead, Gorgeous‘ Worse Than a Fairy Tale, done a brief tour with Reggie and the Full Effect and appeared on the Roadrunner United project, performing bass on “The Enemy” and “Baptized in the Redemption” from the project’s album The All-Star Sessions.
Paul Gray had announced several months ago via MySpace that he and his wife Brenna were expecting a child. He was 38 years old.

Almost five months to the day after the sudden death of actress Brittany Murphy, her husband has been found dead in the couple’s Hollywood Hills home.
Simon Monjack was discovered dead after a 911 call requesting medical aid was received by Los Angeles Fire Department just before 9:30 p.m. The cause of Monjack’s death is not known at this time, but sources are saying that it appears to have been a heart attack.
Brittany Murphy died of cardiac arrest in the same house on December 20, 2009.
