Paris Hilton Is Heading To Africa
Socialite and heiress Paris Hilton was invited to Africa by the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya. Apparently, she wants to bring attention to the herpes crisis in the country?
After Hilton’s stint in jail in June, 2007, she vowed to help with others who are less fortunate. She appeared at a charity event and showed up at a hospital for sick children. She must have thought her promises were kept, but she made it sound like she would be so much more involved in traveling to third world countries and helping out the needy.
Apparently, now she wants to make good on her words, as she’s planning to announce a trip to Africa. Hilton attended a summit (and she was invited!) on health and women’s issues in L.A., where she was in the company of 15 first ladies from African nations.
She says, “I met Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and she is so inspirational and gracious. It was an honor for me to be there, and I want to help shine a light on the struggles that Africa faces.”
After meeting the First Lady of Cameroon, Hilton said, “The First Lady of Cameroon personally invited me to Cameroon and it’s something I hope to make happen. It is a very important priority to me.”
I remember her trip to South Africa last year, she passed out photocopied pictures of herself and hugged the children. Now that’s charity.
