DreamWorks is in talks with toymaker Mattel to acquire the film rights to the company’s View-Master toy, the plastic gadget that lets kids see 3-D images printed on cardboard discs, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The studio is also in negotiations with Transformers scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to produce the film, which would have a story crafted from scratch by screenwriter Brad Caleb Kane (Fox’s Fringe).
