Yesterday was National HIV Testing Day, but one prominent musician did not participate. George Michael is too scared to take an HIV test because he thinks it might be positive. Um, isn’t that the best reason to take the damn thing?
The story is featured in the documentary ‘Stephen Fry - HIV and Me’. The program’s producer, Ross Wilson, said:
“George says he does not believe in tests. He says he finds the wait for results too harrowing and that he hasn’t had a test since at least 2004 due to his fears it might be positive.”
Well, that’s just brilliant.
In other George news, Monday was his 44th birthday, and he got a gift from Geri Halliwell. Since George is banned from driving after being found slumped over the wheel, Geri gave him a chauffeur for the next 12 months. A source revealed the former Spice Girl chose someone who was “nice to look at” and would also be a “good companion”.

With celebrities-turned-fashion designers currently basking in the pop culture spotlight, let’s visit the model-turned-actor’s.
Despite some high profile flops (Cindy Crawford in ‘Fair Game‘, anyone?), there seems to be an endless supply of leggy lovelies dreaming of snagging an Oscar.
LILY COLE
One look at this flame-haired, porcelain-skinned catwalker, and it’s clear that she was destined to play Alice in Wonderland. But given his recent predilection for teenage girls, we can’t help wondering about the wisdom of signing up for the role under the direction of cultural provocateur Marilyn Manson. Still, Cole already has one film project under her belt, playing a schoolgirl in the upcoming St. Trinian’s, co-starring Rupert Everett and Colin Firth and based on a popular British cartoonist’s anarchic vision of boarding school life. And if she can survive the cutthroat fashion world, an aging shock rocker should be, well, child’s play.

GEMMA WARD
The credit for this in-demand model’s role in the upcoming horror movie The Strangers, starring fellow sometimes mannequin, Liv Tyler, is a stroke of pure irony (unwittingly, if we know Hollywood). The face that launched a hundred fashion spreads is listed simply as “Masked Stranger,” although we can’t imagine that the director will be able to keep this wide-eyed lovely under wraps entirely.
EFFORT: N/A TALENT: TO BE DECIDED
GISELE BUNDCHEN
Behind-the-scenes fashion folk have raved about the down-to-earth sense of humor of this arguably most super of supermodels for years, so it’s no surprise that her most memorable film role to date (we’ll forget Taxi, as we hope she has) was as an acid-tongued fashion assistant in the tongue-in-chic blockbuster The Devil Wears Prada. EFFORT: B- TALENT: C+
Move Lovelies After the Jump!
ESTELLA WARREN
We have to give credit to anyone who has held her own against Mark Wahlberg AND a hairy ape (Warren did both in Tim Burton’s widely-panned Planet of the Apes remake). Still, the former synchronized swimmer has largely fallen off the radar in recent years, except as a pillow-lipped fantasy figure in the minds of devoted male fans.
EFFORT: C TALENT: C+
CHRISTIE BRINKLEY
That killer smile, that killer car. Brinkley zoomed into every adolescent boy’s dreams thanks to a high profile cameo as “the girl in the Ferrari” in the comedy classic National Lampoon’s Vacation, but these days she’s more likely to be found tooling around her beloved Hamptons—and holding her head up in the aftermath of a nasty divorce—than appearing at a theater near you. EFFORT: C TALENT: C
REBECCA ROMIJN
Hate her or love her, it appears that Rebecca Romijn, actress, is here to stay. Fusing her smoldering swimsuit model physique with a goofy girl next door charm, the former Mrs. Full House has emerged with a full-fledged second career that’s fast outstripping (pun intended) her Victoria’s Secret heyday.
EFFORT: A+ TALENT: B-
CLAUDIA SCHIFFER
She spoofed herself in Zoolander and took on a bit more of a stretch in filmmaker James Toback’s controversial exploration of race relations, Black and White, but at the end of the day this Teutonic supermodel’s most absorbing role is playing mom to children, Caspar and Clementine.
EFFORT: C- TALENT: B
MILLA JOVOVICH
This sharp-cheekboned Slavic stunner has carved out a niche for herself on the other side of the catwalk, as half of the design team behind hipster label Jovovich-Hawk, but she’s played a pretty convincing alien in her day (in former flame’s Luc Besson’s fantastical The Fifth Element), and she’s set to return to the silver screen this fall as the star of the latest installment of the horror-sci-fi series Resident Evil.
EFFORT: A TALENT: C-
CINDY CRAWFORD
Internationally recognized as one of the original core supermodels, Cindy Crawford seemed to have been “marked” for commercial success. Just not in the film/television category. She started off strong with the George Michael “Freedom 90″ video, and the hot Pepsi commercials in the mid-’90s, but when she tried her hand at film (the forgettable Fair Game), her star quickly fizzled out.
EFFORT: B TALENT: D
ELLE MACPHERSON
This eternal amazon’s lingerie empire is now her central focus, but back in the late ‘90s “The Body” made a genuine stab at movie stardom, showing up in such diverse films as the sophisticated sex-drenched comedy Sirens, opposite Hugh Grant, and the bloated big budget flop Batman and Robin.
EFFORT: C+ TALENT: B+
NAOMI CAMPBELL
Her frenzy-inducing public service stint was more entertaining than anything we’ve seen in theaters in years, so here’s hoping that this tempestuous fashion icon harnesses even an iota of her naturally dramatic mojo for her rumored upcoming movie project.
EFFORT: A TALENT: TBD
And… the ONLY MALE…
ASHTON KUTCHER, Yes… he was first a model!
No exploration of the model-turned-actor phenomenon would be complete without Demi Moore’s favorite accessory. Despite attempts at scaling the dramatic A-list, former Calvin Klein model Kutcher is still best known for playing dim-witted Kelso on the long-running sitcom That ‘70s Show and for playing practical jokes on fellow celebrities on his reality show Punk’d. Oh, and of course for being, like, the best stepdad EVER!

Singer George Michael has pled guilty to “driving while unfit through drugs.”
George Michael pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of driving while unfit through drugs.
The 43-year-old singer said in Brent Magistrates’ Court that he was guilty due to “tiredness and prescribed drugs.”
A charge of being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drugs was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service. Sentencing was deferred until May 30, pending more blood tests.
The charge “driving while unfit through drugs” is one I’ve never heard of before.
Is it okay to drive if you’re unfit from eating too much and watching a lot of TV? I sure hope so!
Congratulations… we are so proud of you! [cough]

Fortunately, that new and improved Primatene Mist should get Lindsay’s production-halting problem asthma under control, so we don’t expect to see her in this category next year. With plenty more of her ‘Confessions,’ no doubt.

If it wasn’t for smoking pot, George Michael says he’d be “insane”. Hmm. Now tell me, would a “sane” man have sex (give head) to a complete stranger in a public park? Yeah… whatever!
Pop star George Michael said smoking cannabis kept him “sane and happy” and appeared to light up a joint during an interview on Britain’s ITV channel, ITV said on Friday.
The comments have landed the former Wham! frontman in hot water with mental health groups and drug charities concerned about the message Michael’s comments will send to young people.
“All drugs have potential to harm and that is the principal message we need to get across,” William Butler, spokesman for the Addaction drugs charity, told London’s Evening Standard.
A spokeswoman for the 43-year-old singer, who recently embarked on a comeback tour, said he had no comment to make in reaction to the latest controversy.
ITV, which will screen the interview on October 31, said Michael “sparked up” backstage at a gig in Madrid while talking to the channel’s South Bank Show.
“George defends his dope habit, saying it keeps him sane and happy. But he admits it’s not very healthy. He says it can have a ‘terrible, terrible effect’,” ITV said on its Web site.
Michael also denies that his life is out of control, despite a spate of recent run-ins with the law.
He was arrested and cautioned earlier this month after he was found slumped over the wheel of his car in London and in possession of cannabis. In February, Michael was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, admitting it had been his “own stupid fault.” source
George Michael and some guy you’ve never heard of are getting back together for a Wham! reunion Christmas concert.
Eighties pop wunderkinds George Michael and Andrew Ridgley will reunite as Wham! for a special concert this Christmas as part of Michael’s solo world tour.
“George is thrilled that Andrew’s agreed to perform,” a source told Britain’s Sunday Mirror. “It was something George had thought about for a long time. He couldn’t be happier and can’t wait for the gig.” Michael often squashed rumors of a potential reunion in the past due to Ridgley’s refusal to participate.
Michael and Ridgley have not performed together since Wham! staged its final concert at London’s Wembley Stadium in 1986. While Michael has gone on to have a successful solo career, along with recent highly publicized run-ins with the law, Ridgley has stayed out of the public eye and the music industry.
Simon and Garfunkle, they weren’t. Lately, though, Michael has been more known for his freakish lifestyle than his music. If you define “lately” as the last fifteen years or so, that is. So I’m sure this is mostly a publicity stunt to get the focus off of what a weirdo George Michael is.
Lauren Burch agrees, musing “I wonder how much George is having to pay him to do this for him?”
