Singer Gavin DeGraw was hospitalized in New York City yesterday after he was assaulted and then hit by a taxi at around 4:30 am according to The New York Post.
The 34-year-old singer, who has been touring with Maroon 5 as their opening act, was out partying with a bunch of friends and when he left on his own he was attacked by a “pack of thugs” and then hit by a taxi as he stumbled away.
The attackers broke his nose and gave him cuts on his face from the attack and when he stumbled away he was then hit by the cab before being taken to the Bellevue Hospital.
“Gavin DeGraw was assaulted … and was taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation. We have no additional information at this time.” His rep says in a statement.
Police say the attack didn’t appear to be a robbery. DeGraw, who’s new album is due out in September, is set to play Saratoga Springs, NY, later on tonight as part of the tour but no word on whether he will be there or not yet. A source says “they don’t know yet if he will be okay to make the show tomorrow.”
He still hasn’t updated his Twitter account since the attack took place.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver‘s youngest son, Christopher, has been hospitalized after being involved in a serious surfing accident last weekend according to TMZ.
Christopher, 13-years-old, has been in an Intensive Care Unit for days after he suffered multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung from the accident while surfing in Malibu.
It’s looking like he will be fine though because apparently his status was upgraded so things are looking up for him, despite the family being torn apart with the divorce Maria has been at his side since the accident and Arnold has been a regular visitor.
This isn’t going to bring the couple back together though because last week they were reunited at a family dinner and then just yesterday Arnold filed his response to Maria’s divorce petition and they are arguing as to whether she should get spousal support or not. So he filed this petition while their child was in hospital? Nice.
In his filing Arnold asked the judge to terminate any spousal support for Maria since she asked for it in her petition. Arnold is also asking for joint custody of their two minor children.

The Sun are reporting that troubled actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized in London earlier this week after reportedly trying to commit suicide that involved him popping pills in his home.
33-year-old Meyers, who has been battling alcohol addiction for the past few years and has been in and out of rehab five times, was found slumped over on the floor in his home on Tuesday night by paramedics who responded to an emergency call.
According to sources when paramedics tried to help him he refused any treatment for 30 minutes before the police arrived on the scene and managed to convince him that he should go to hospital. The source adds “this is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life.”
A spokesperson for the police spoke to People saying “we can confirm we were called by the London Ambulance Service to an address in NW8 to report to a man refusing treatment. Police attended, and the man was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital. That was the end of our involvement.”
The actor, probably best known for his role in The Tudors, was discharged on Wednesday morning and reporters asked him hw he’s doing to which he simply replied “no comment.” It was only recently reported that he can’t even keep his leg steady if he sits down because he has the shakes from drinking so much alcohol.
To be honest this doesn’t come as a surprise to me, when his mother passed away a few years ago he hit the drink harder than ever before and I always thought it was only a matter of time before something like this happens. I hope he gets the help he needs.

Cheryl Cole raised concern the other day when she collapsed during a photoshoot which she blamed on exhaustion but yesterday she was rushed to hospital and then diagnosed with malaria.
Cheryl took a vacation to Tanzania last month to get away from all the drama of her divorce and she took some malaria tablets which are supposed to prevent you from catching it but a mosquito bit her while she was away. A source says…
“She told doctors she’d had stomach pains since her return from Tanzania. On Sunday evening her condition deteriorated so rapidly she knew it was something serious. She’d spent 48 hours in bed trying to sleep off what she thought was a stomach bug. She was extremely weak, sweating and drifting in and out of consciousness. She was driven to hospital where tests showed malaria. Everyone is really concerned. She is very ill.”
Doctors are going to keep her in hospital for a couple of days and she has canceled all work commitments for the next week, which includes shooting auditions for The X-Factor. Any takers on being Cheryl Cole‘s home nurse? I sure wouldn’t mind nursing her better.

TMZ is reporting that Mindy McCready had been hospitalized for a possible drug overdose in Cape Coral, Florida.
Apparently she was found collapsed at her mother’s home before the emergency services were called. They arrived to the house at 10:45 am and she was then rushed to Cape Coral Hospital, she still is there.
However Mindy’s mother says that it was not an overdose and that she just took some pain medication to help with her broken toe, her condition is unknown.

What a tragedy. Most of us know Zelda Rubinstein as Tangina Barrons from the “Poltergeist” movies, but the iconic actress is nearing the end of her days with us.
Zelda was taken off of life support after being hospitalized for over a month. She is said to be in and out of consciousness after her lungs and both kidneys are failing her.
Earlier in the year, Zelda took time out to speak to “The Advocate” about her time as “Mother” in the fight against AIDS. In 1984, Zelda was asked to play the “Mother” role, telling her “sons” to wear condoms.

Conservative political commentator and radio host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii this afternoon, after suffering from chest pains.
Paramedics took the 911 call at 2:41 PM HST today at the Kahala Hotel and Resort. Paramedics on scene rushed him to Queen’s Medical Center after saying he is in serious condition.
Limbaugh is more known for his cigar and prescription drug habits. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
