Erin Andrews Video Links Downloads Virus

The disgusting (and illegal) voyeuristic inspiration that led to video of an unknowing Erin Andrews nude in a hotel room didn’t stop users from searching for the clip.

Some of those users, though, got bitten by a group of hackers who tricked thousands into downloading a virus they claimed was the video.

Taking advantage of what was a highly-searched topic over the weekend, many sites set up links advertising the video, even after ESPN, Andrews’ employer, and her lawyer put forth a strong legal effort to get all traces of the real video taken offline with threats towards anyone who published it.

Graham Cluley of the anti-virus software company Sophos told USA Today,

“Hackers are no slacks when it comes to taking advantage of a hot Internet search trend. And they have been quick to set up bogus Web pages claiming to contain the video footage of Ms. Andrews in her hotel room.”

Last week, rumors began to build that a nude video of Andrews — the popular sideline reporter for the sports media giant — existed, rumors that intensified when ESPN contacted a sports blog about removing the video even though no one had positively identified the woman as Andrews. On Friday, Andrews’ lawyer, Marshall B. Grossman, released a powerful statement confirming the rumors and promising action.

“While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future.

Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”

The person(s) responsible for the video and its subsequent publication has yet to be identified.

Winona Ryder: ‘I Didn’t Steal It This Time’

A hugely expensive bracelet on loan to Winona Ryder has gone missing in Spain, but it’s Winona who feels like the victim.

Here’s the lowdown. Winona was in Madrid Sunday for a Marie Claire event. Marie Claire had given Winona a Bulgari bracelet and a ring to wear, worth $125,000. She also got a dress, shoes and some other stuff to wear to the shindig.

After Winona left Madrid, the bracelet and ring turned up missing.

There’s a report in a French magazine saying Winona claimed she went to the front desk at the hotel and gave the jewelry to the front desk, but the surveillance cam doesn’t show her doing that. The intimation — Winona stole the bling.

In fact, we know what happened. The morning after the event, at around 6:00 AM, Winona checked out of the hotel. No one from Marie Claire was around to collect the stuff, so she left everything in her hotel room.

Our sources confirm the bracelet and ring did indeed turn up missing — the dress and other stuff weren’t taken. We’re told Winona never said she had taken the jewels to the front desk, and whoever planted the story may be covering up for someone who had access to the room after she left.

So far, Winona has not been contacted by the police.

Did Winona Ryder honestly think that by leaving jewelry worth thousands of dollars, laying on a hotel bed after checking out, the maid wouldn’t steal them? What a dumb biotch!

Samantha Ronson Got a New Haircut

… And it appears that Lindsay Lohan is none too pleased about it.

I know, late breaking very important news. How about something a little more juicy.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson were spotted coming out of a hair salon in West Hollywood and Ronson was looking a little leaner on top.

In other news, it’s being reported that the couple was forced to make a daring escape from a hotel room, after they were locked in by a malfunctioning door.

The dynamic duo became trapped in a room at the Bowery Hotel in New York on Sunday and were forced to climb over their second-story balcony to make their exit.

A source tells the New York Daily News,

“Thankfully, the busboys and wait staff were there to climb up and help the girls down. Lindsay and Sam were laughing hysterically. They thought it was the funniest thing ever.”

Apparently Ronson is attempting to grow out the platinum locks, in exchange for her natural brown color. I suppose it wouldn’t look so bad if she washed it a little more often.
