Winona Ryder made her way around LA yesterday, sipping on her cold beverage of choice, a Jamba Juice smoothie.
Winona’s been keeping busy recently with six movies in the works, including Stay Cool with Hilary Duff and now Josh Holloway.
However, she has not been busy at the salon or with a stylist.
Let’s take a moment to learn people! [heh]
The Golden Globe Awards are American awards for motion pictures and television programs, given out each year during a formal dinner. Run since 1944 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the awards are a major part of the film industry’s “awards season” which culminates each year with the Oscars. This is particularly true since 1996, when the HFPA signed a new television broadcast contract with NBC (prior to that, they were aired on TBS, but before the existence of TBS, one of the “big three” commercial networks, i.e. CBS, NBC, or ABC, always broadcast the show). The broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards generally ranks as the third most-watched awards show each year, behind only the Oscars and Grammys, and movie studios actively solicit support from HFPA members and mention nominations and awards in their advertisements.
The Golden Globes are awarded early in the year, based on votes from (as of 2005) 86 mostly part-time journalists living in Hollywood and affiliated with media outside of the United States.
Unlike the Academy Awards, for which the eligibility period begins January 1, the eligibility period for the Golden Globe Awards begins October 1.

Phillip Swann, president of TVPredictions.com, has named his top ten best and worst looking celebrities on Hi-Def. He notes that, “The High-Definition TV picture is so clear that aging signs and skin imperfections are dramatically visible.”
So, who’s the worst?
1. Rosie O’Donnell: The loud-mouthed comedienne recently joined the cast of ABC’s The View, but lemme tell ya, no one enjoys the view of Rosie in high-def. Most people use a wash cloth to clean their face; but Rosie looks like she uses a Brillo pad. Her face is extremely coarse and rough-looking in high-def, particularly when she sits next to the youthful and vibrant countenance of Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
2. Howard Stern: In high-def, Howard looks a little like Cher — that is, if you saw Cher two minutes after she first woke up in the morning. The shock jock reportedly underwent plastic surgery to try to improve his oft self-maligned appearance, but he might want to consider filing a malpractice suit. This is the worst abuse of a surgical scalpel since Jack the Ripper roamed the streets of London.
3. Teri Hatcher: The Desperate Housewives star was number one on last year’s ‘HD Horribles’ list, but she’s not any less desperate this year in high-def. Hatcher is now 41, but her age is not the problem. She’s so thin that she could pass as a mother of four in Darfur. Because her body weight is so low, her skin is too tight on her frame. When she makes a facial gesture, the veins on her forehead pop out like they’re auditioning to play the Monster in the next Alien movie.
4. Britney Spears: Mrs. Federline is just 24, but she looks 34 in HDTV. Her skin is puffy and covered with small blemishes. In high-def, she looks like a different person. And considering the disappointing sales of her last two albums, her record company might think she’s become a different person.
5. Barbara Walters: Bravo to the bravest woman in America. As executive producer of The View, Babs this year gave the green light to broadcasting the show in high-def. But in HD, her face has more lines than a Manhattan sidewalk.
6. Burt Reynolds: After numerous ‘apparent’ plastic surgeries, Burt’s face looks like it’s been Scotch taped back in place. His skin texture seems different in every area, as if the Nip ‘n Tuck boys couldn’t keep track of what they did last. And those toupees don’t help, either. You get the feeling that it takes the Boogie Nights star half the day just to get his head together, and we don’t mean psychologically.
7. Meredith Vieira: After first seeing herself in high-def, The Today Show co-host probably wishes she could turn the clock back to yesterday. Despite NBC giving her a soft focus in studio shots, Vieira’s heavily-lined face is strikingly visible when the cameras swing outdoors.
8. Madonna: Madonna reportedly has had some cosmetic surgery on her face. But it certainly didn’t make her a cut above the rest. The pop star’s cheeks look more caved in than a West Virginia coal mine. It’s very unnatural looking. In fact, she’s starting to look like Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard. Except, please, no close-ups, Mr. DeMille.
9. Mick Jagger: In high-def, his face looks like a rolling stone. No, on second thought, it looks like it’s been hit by a rolling stone.
10. Ray Liotta: Another returnee from our 2005 list. The pockmarked actor is now playing a thief in the new CBS drama, Smith. Let’s hope Ray steals a case of Clearasil by episode four.
Very sad, especially for Reynolds, who was considered one of the sexiest men in the world not so long ago. Well, I guess 1977 was a pretty long time ago. And Jagger noted several decades ago what a drag it is getting old.
So, who looks good in HD?
1. Scarlett Johansson: The ‘H’ in HDTV stands for Heaven when you gaze upon the sultry Scarlett. The 21-year-old actress has the most luscious lips on the planet. And how about the rest of her? She’s so beautiful in high-def that she almost persuaded fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi to change more than his clothes at the 2006 Golden Globes.
2. Beyonce Knowles: The Pink Panther star is the cat’s meow in high-def. . Beautiful skin; beautiful teeth; beautiful hair. And, yes, a beautiful body. Of course, it helps that Beyonce is 24 years old, but youth alone won’t save you from the high-def lens. Just ask Britney Spears.
3. Evangeline Lily: In high-def, the luscious Lost star makes being marooned look like a vacation. No wonder Sawyer and Jack seem to have such little interest in getting off the island.
4. Josh Holloway: I’m a guy, but watching the high-def Lost, I can see how Holloway can use his manly wiles to woo everyone from Kate (Evangeline Lily) to Ana Lucia (Michelle Rodriguez) on the show. He looks like Don Johnson from the Miami Vice days.
5. Eva Longoria: Last year’s number one ‘HD Honey,’ Eva is still a sight to behold. And that’s not the only thing I would like to ‘be holding.’
6. Charlize Theron: Another repeater from our 2005 ‘HD Honey’ list. Charlize is perfect. Perfect skin. Perfect hair. Perfect teeth. Perfect body. Oh, what a perfect body.
7. Christina Aguilera: The singer has nice skin and beautiful white teeth. But it’s her sparkling blue eyes that really shine in high-def. Very pretty. If Madonna ever has to reprise her MTV kiss, she would be wise to skip Britney and go straight for Christina.
8. Elisabeth Hasselbeck: The junior partner on The View, Hasselbeck is cuter than a hundred kittens. And she looks sensational in high-def.
9. Ben Affleck: This guy must have signed a pact with the Devil. He has everything! Jennifer Garner; a successful film career (despite a series of box office flops); and looks to kill for. In high-def, he looks younger (and cockier) than his years.
10. Martha Stewart: Yes, Martha Stewart. She might be 65, but she doesn’t look it in HDTV. Prison life must have agreed with her.
Surely, there’s someone out there who looks better than Martha Friggin’ Stewart? I mean, yes, she’s a very nice looking woman for someone old enough to be Allie’s mother. But, c’mon!
The cast of the hit ABC drama “Lost” say they’re not bothered in the least by having been passed over for any Emmy nominations. And they fill us in on some big changes for next season.
The hatch is history. That was just one of the third-season secrets revealed by cast and crew of the TV drama “Lost,” who gathered here Tuesday night to mark the release of the DVD set, “Lost — The Complete Second Season.” “The hatch has definitely had its moment,” confirmed executive producer Bryan Burk, referring to the mysterious underground bunker that was the set for much of the series’ second-season drama. “Lets just say it was one big explosion.”
“Lost” cast members Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjim Kim were among the attendees at the party at the Turtle Bay Resort, about a 20-minute drive from where much of “Lost” is filmed on the north shore of Oahu. Before heading in to celebrate their second-season work, the cast was asked to address their show’s surprising lack of presence among this year’s Emmy nominees. Though it was last year’s Emmy-winning drama, “Lost” was not among the current crop of nominated series, nor were any of its leading actors recognized.
“My first reaction to it was, `Good.’ I don’t want us to become that show that becomes so righteous, so above everything else, that we’re untouchable,” said Lilly, who will serve as a presenter at the Aug. 27 Emmy telecast. “When we started, our big question was, `Will anybody even watch this show?’ And then when people started watching, we were thrilled. And then when we got recognized critically, we were beside ourselves. So, when we didn’t get nominated, all we had to do was remember where we came from.”
Writer and executive producer Carlton Cuse told The AP he wasn’t losing sleep about the Emmy snub, either. “Were we disappointed that we didn’t get a nomination for the show? Yes.” he said. “But the show has been so blessed: the attention, the success. We’re not going to focus too long on what we don’t have.”
“Lost” fans can expect some big changes when new episodes return to ABC Oct. 4. There won’t be any more frustrating repeats. “Now, when `Lost’ is on, it’s on,” Cuse explained. “And when it’s off, it’s off. And when it’s on, you know it’s an original `Lost.’” The producers said six all-new “Lost” episodes will air in consecutive weeks this fall; the season’s remaining 17 new episodes will be scheduled without interruption from midwinter to late spring.
As for the story: If the first season was all about the original plane-crash survivors adjusting to their new lives on a deserted island, and the second season was all about the so-called “tailies” (those who were in the tail of the plane, whom the originals had thought were dead), “this year,” Lilly said, “we’ve opened this up to another whole other people, a whole other location, a whole other facet through which we can tell stories.”
Michael Emerson, who plays the leader of “The Others” group, noted, “What I know is that we get to go live with The Others, where they learn a little more about their life and, hopefully, their mission, their agenda, whatever that might be. Maybe we’ll get to warm up to them.”
Producer Burk promised that many of the second season’s looming questions would be answered in the first six episodes. But, warned actor Daniel Dae Kim, “I think for every question that’s answered, there’s another one that’s posed, and that’s kind of what keeps people coming back.”
Cuse said the new season will include more action and adventure, and that new characters could well serve as love interests. And, he added, Sawyer (Holloway) and Jack (Matthew Fox) will definitely be competing for the romantic affections of Kate (Lilly). But don’t expect the show to get all soft. “There’ll be a lot of love. There’ll be a lot of comedy,” Burk said. “But we can never forget that these people are in a very dark place.”
“Lost” and “Battlestar Galactica” are easily my favorite non-sports shows on these days. The new ABC Family show, “Kyle XY” is also interesting, although it’s a little too schmaltzy for my tastes.
“Lost” hearthrob Josh Holloway is apparently not all that different than the character he plays, according to an interview with the New York Post:
Josh Holloway, who’s in ABC’s hit “Lost,” admits he considered dumping his fiancée when his star began to rise. “There’s a Hugh Hefner that lives in all men,” happily married Holloway tells Men’s Health. “So when ‘Lost’ took off, part of me thought, ‘Do I cut and run?’ I still like to look around, but respectfully and with no intentions. ‘Married, not buried,’ I always say.” Still, he can’t help fantasize about bachelorhood. “If I were single?” Holloway muses. “Damn, I’d have one girl doing my laundry, one shaving me, one bringing me a cocktail and another one coming out of my tent all hung over.”
Todd thinks he might get his wish sooner rather than later. Minus half his loot, I would add.

Todd provides several photos of Holloway and his wife, (longtime love, Yessica) which provokes several comments about the wife’s skill set. I’ve shamelessly stolen a representative one, thumbnailed leftmost above. I’ve added two others found on the Web.
As to whether Holloway is a pig, an aspersion cast by several, I would note that 1) he is a man and 2) he is a rich, famous former model stuck in Hawaii for weeks at a time with Evangeline Lilly, Emilie de Ravin, Michelle Rodriguez, and, until recently, Maggie Grace. If he’s not cheating on Yessica now, he never will.

Apropos of nothing in particular, I nonetheless find it amusing that Holloway’s IMDB profile informs, “His first job was picking up dead chickens at a farm.”
