Yesterday it was announced that Kate Winslet and her husband of seven years, Sam Mendes, were divorcing. As we all know that if you win an Oscar there is a curse, it seems for women on top of their career dying they tend to end up divorcing. Here are some of the famous ones:
Benjamin Bratt was the lucky man on Julia Roberts’ arm when she won the Oscar for her role in “Erin Brockovich” in 2001. Three months later their relationship was over—he went on to marry Talisa Soto, while she’s had three kids with husband Danny Moder. She’s yet to be nominated for a second time, so hopefully this relationship is safe.
The second actress to fall victim to this trend? Halle Berry, who won Best Actress in 2002 for “Monster’s Ball.” She’d been dating hot musician Eric Benet for years, and the two got hitched in 2001. Shortly after winning her Best Actress Oscar, Benet started cheating on her and allegedly went to sex addiction rehab. But it wasn’t enough—the couple separated in 2003 and divorced in 2005.
Infamously, Hilary Swank forgot to thank her hubby Chad Lowe, brother of Rob, when she won Best Actress in 2000 for her role as Brandon Teena in “Boys Don’t Cry.” Still, Chad seemed ultra supportive of her, and they were the ultimate down-to-earth Hollywood couple. They had just crossed the 13-years-together mark when Hilary won again in 2005, for “Million Dollar Baby,” and she made sure to thank him, first thing. The two divorced a year later. Rumors circulated that he couldn’t handle the level of success she’d found.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe met at her 21st birthday party—she supposedly walked up to him and said, “I think you’re my birthday present”—and got married less than a year later. Reese had already popped out two kidlets seven years later, when she won Best Actress for her role in “Walk the Line,” and the pair seemed forevers. Nope. They split eight months after she gave her acceptance speech. Many assume Ryan was cheating on her with Abbie Cornish.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise had already shocked the world by getting divorced when she won the Best Actress Oscar for portraying Virginia Woolf in “The Hours.” But she was clearly still having a hard time with the split at the time of her win. “He was huge; still is. To me, he was just Tom, but to everybody else, he is huge,” she told Ladies Home Journal. “But he was lovely to me. And I loved him. I still love him.” After rumored flings with Jude Law and Robbie Williams, Nicole allegedly gave Best Actor winner Adrien Brody her number backstage at the Oscars, and the two dated for a little while. She, of course, ended up getting remarried to Keith Urban.
Charlize Theron‘s relationship with actor Stuart Townsend seemed solid when she awed the Academy with her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos and won the Oscar. The two never officially tied the knot because they were waiting for same-sex couples to have the right to do the same. But Townsend said, “I don’t need a certificate or the state or the church to say otherwise. So no there’s no big official story on a wedding, but we are married … I consider her my wife and she considers me her husband.” Until the two sadly split up in January.
I guess that means Sandra Bullock should be worrying about her marriage to Jesse James could end up with the same faith since she won the Oscar this year.

Those damn sources across the pond are stirring the pregnancy pot. The story began with an elated Nicole telling family she was pregnant while spending Christmas with them in Australia. The Daily Mail ran with the story that she was knocked up and quoted her as saying that she simply wanted to “spend as much time as possible with my husband.”
Rumors that she also planned to take on less projects surfaced due to the pregnancy surfaced. When it came to her work load she was planning on shedding some of the load because “it wouldn’t fit in with the logistics and dynamics of [her] family.” Miss Kidman, because I am nasty, also complained of constant fatigue while filming her latest movie.
Reps for Nicole are shooting down the baby rumors. To them the news of her possible pregnancy is “incorrect” and “just another rumor out of London.”
So either she has mono and isn’t ready to get another plastic surgery overhaul to fix stretch marks….or she fears the wrath of J.Lo for stealing her thunder.

Here’s Nicole Kidman with hubby Keith Urban on the red carpet, and it appears that Nicole’s stylist forgot to tell her that her dress is a bit see through. Although this isn’t nearly as fun as Uma Thurman’s recent slip-up, it’s still pretty good. More slightly revealing pics after the jump …
In Sydney on Monday, Keith Urban was in a motorcycle accident while being trailed by paparazzi. Keith wasn’t injured, but said,
“Today’s incident was the result of one person’s desire to do his job and my desire to maintain my privacy… the reality is this: while I am out riding to an AA meeting, a time when my privacy is especially important to me, I felt myself being pursued. In actual fact, my pursuer came to my assistance, without taking photos, and helped me from the road.”
I bet I know what Keith Urban was thinking … “Stupid Boy”. Brutal, I know, but so is that song.

Nicole Kidman has at last received the news she’s been so desperately waiting for — she’s pregnant!
After months of fertility treatment, sources say the actress has told family and friends that she and husband Keith Urban are finally expecting their first child together.
“Nicole and Keith are having a baby,” reveals an overjoyed friend. “They’ve been riding on clouds since they got the news. Nicole’s been hoping for this since the day they got married. Everyone knows how she’s been aching to have a baby. It’s all she’s been talking about for ages.”
So… why didn’t Tom Cruise and Nicole have their own child? For the full story, plus exclusive pics, see this week’s issue of Woman’s Day (on sale March 26).
Actress Nicole Kidman was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night after being involved in a car accident on the set of her latest film, The Invasion, in downtown Los Angeles.
At the time of the incident, the actress was filming a scene in which she’s driving a Jaguar, trying to escape zombie-like characters hanging off the hood.
The vehicle was being towed by a rig in order to give the appearance that the actress was really driving.
At around 11 p.m., the stunt driver operating the rig skidded while taking a corner at roughly 45 mph, causing Kidman’s car to hit a poll and knock over a garbage can.
Both the actress and her costar, 10-year-old Jackson Bond, who was riding in the front passenger seat, were wearing seat belts.
Members of the crew immediately wrapped a blanket around Kidman and paramedics arrived to check the actress for injuries.
Kidman, 39, was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in an SUV, and was released within two hours.
Sources tell Us that the actress was in shock and took a long break, but eventually resumed filming later that night.
Her husband Keith Urban, 39, and 11-year-old son, Connor Cruise, were said to be on-set at the time of the accident.
Keith Urban made his first public post-rehab appearance on Saturday, telling fans he’s feeling just fine.
During a backstage interview before his segment on the popular German TV show Wetten, dass..? (Wanna bet?), Urban, 39, was asked how he was doing and told that many of his fans had been worried about him.
“I’m very good, I’m feeling much better,” he said. “And thank you to everybody out there – I got a lot of support from everybody in the last three months, lots of e-mails and cards and letters. It meant a lot to me, so danke schön.”
(Urban will also be speaking to fans in a video message on his Web site on Monday at 11:00 a.m. EST.)
He told the interviewer that the song he would later perform on the show, “Once in a Lifetime,” from his new album Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing, was based on his relationship with wife Nicole Kidman.
“A song like ‘Once in a Lifetime’ is inspired by my marriage – it’s a good, life-changing happening in my life,” he said. “I think when you find your once-in-a-lifetime love, that’s what everybody’s looking for.”
After performing ‘Once in a Lifetime’ with his band, Urban chatted with host Thomas Gottschalk, who said, “Tell Nicole all about the show, tell her how good it was, and that she can come here. You could even bring her next time.”
Urban said he would be back in the country soon anyway: “We’re coming to Germany to tour in April.”
Keith Urban has completed his treatment for alcohol abuse and will ease back onto the stage with a short run of club shows in the United Kingdom and Germany in April, his spokesman said Tuesday.
Paul Freundlich, the country singer’s publicist, said Urban had finished treatment over the weekend and will head to Germany this week for promotional appearances. Urban, 39, had checked himself into rehab in October.
The shows will launch Urban’s world tour in support of his latest album, “Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing,” Freundlich said.
The tour dates are still being finalized, but after the club shows he will play arenas in Australia in May and in the U.S. and Canada in June.
Urban sought treatment just before the album came out in November, forcing him to delay the tour and several TV appearances.
Despite his absence for promotion, the album reached No. 1 on the country chart and spawned the hit singles “Once in a Lifetime” and “Stupid Boy.”
The Australian-reared singer and Nicole Kidman, also 39, were married in Sydney, Australia, in June. The couple then moved to Nashville, where Urban records.
Keith Urban, great career… beautiful wife… an alcoholic. This just goes to show you, it can happen to ANYBODY! Kudo’s to Keith for having the courage to step forward and admit to his problem. He’s taken the first and biggest step… it gets easier from here.
Keith Urban has checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center for alcohol abuse, less than four months after the Grammy-winning country singer’s marriage to actress Nicole Kidman.
Urban released a statement Friday that said he entered rehab Thursday night with his wife by his side. His publicist would not give the location of the rehab center.
“I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me,” Urban said in the statement.
Urban, who turns 39 on Oct. 26, has publicly acknowledged a former addiction to cocaine, but his publicist said Urban was currently being treated for alcohol abuse.
“One can never let one’s guard down on recovery, and I’m afraid that I have,” the statement reads. “With the strength and unwavering support I am blessed to have from my wife, family and friends, I am determined and resolved to a positive outcome.” source
Nicole Kidman’s a little fed up with the “baby bump” rumors. She says that she’s just a little bloated from eating an abundance of cauliflower lately. [heh]
Nicole Kidman has laughed off rumors she is pregnant with new husband Keith Urban’s baby. The Oscar winner and New Zealand-born country singer married in Sydney, Australia, in June after a whirlwind 11-month romance.
In August, Kidman’s publicist issued a denial the actress was pregnant after photos of her with a ’rounding’ in the stomach appeared in tabloids. After rumors surfaced again in recent weeks, Kidman has spoken up to deny the claims, saying, “I am not pregnant – I will say right now I am not pregnant.”

Ha! An old picture of Keith Urban has recently surfaced and I think it is quite humorous. He looks like a cross between an 80’s punk rocker, David Spade and Rod Stewart. LOL!! Funny, no?
