Usually when we see Lady GaGa she is dressed up in some ridiculous outfit with a ton of makeup on her face so when I heard she was going to be featured in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar I expected some typical Halloween photoshoot. But instead here she is stripped down with no makeup on her face at all.
“Whether I’m wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I’m always the same person inside” says the 25-year-old singer who also opens up to the magazine in an interview about how she stays in shape and the public’s expectations of her.
Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin both photographed GaGa in her natural look for this photoshoot which is also featured for her ‘You and I’ video.
While most of us would consider this a natural look GaGa has a different view on it because she says “I don’t really view it as ‘natural’ I think that artifice is the new reality. It’s more about just being honest and sincere to the core of what you do.”
When asked if she ever looks in the mirror and thinks to herself “here we go again” she says “sometimes I do. It all really depends on my mood for the day. But I think the perception that I ‘put it on’ every day is probably not true.”
”Don’t you think that what’s on the cover of a magazine is quite artificial? There’s this idea that it’s all natural, but everything’s been staged to look natural. It is also an invention. It’s just that my inventions are different. I often get asked about my artifice, but isn’t fashion based on the idea that we can create a fantasy?” She says.
Speaking about what the people think of her and if she thinks her fans would be upset if she threw away her crazy stage outfits and opted for a simple jeans and t-shirt she says “I try to not focus on what people expect from me, I think what has been lovely about my relationship with the public is that they expect something unexpected from me.”
GaGa who puts dancing down as a main reason her body is in such good shape says another way she also has that body is because “I do yoga, I do Bikram and I run, and I eat really healthy. You know, my work sort of feeds me. I keep in shape by working hard.”
She isn’t joking about working hard either because she says tells the magazine she works “about 16 to 20 hours a day. And when I’m alone, I write, I imagine, I create things, and I decide how I want to do my future performances. I don’t take much time off.”
It’s nice to see a different side to Lady GaGa when she is out of her extravagant costumes, which side of the singer do you prefer?
I love when people fall over, as long as they are okay of course, but what’s better than the average person tripping up? A celebrity falling on stage for all of us to laugh at. AOL have come up with a list of 10 celebrities who have fallen over and here they are for you to laugh at.
10. Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera’s stiletto stumble after an Aretha Franklin tribute at the Grammys was tabloid gold following her National Anthem flub at the Super Bowl, just one week before.
09. Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey was in the middle of crowd hyping when her overhead clap caused her to collapse to the floor. Like a true diva, MiMi’s entourage swept her up and got her back on her fabulous feet in no time.
08. Musiq Soulchild
R&B singer Musiq Soulchild danced himself right off the edge of the stage during a show at Madison Square Garden. Peep Musiq’s plummet at :10!
07. P!nk
P!nk may have taken up trapeze tricks as her new hobby, but the singer-turned-acrobat was taken down by the wired hula hoops at :46. She later tweeted from a German ambulance, “I am embarrassed and very sorry. I’m in ambulance now but I will b fine.”
06. Rihanna
Rihanna was brought to her knees during a performance of ‘What’s My Name’ at a show in Canada. “Oh na na” no! Later that same week, RiRi suffered a second stage fall during her concert in Toronto.
05. Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams wiped out on stage and proceeded to give a full on explanation for the fall to the audience from the floor, rather than continue with the song. “That’s a bit embarrassing. That will teach me for being cocky,” he admits before labeling himself a “t—.”
04. Shania Twain
Country music queen Shania Twain fell from grace while making an entrance at the Country Music Television awards show. “I don’t need a stunt double,” she joked just moments after.
03. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is known for her crazy stage stunts and live show shock tactics, but sometimes the best stage moments are the unplanned mishaps. Gaga’s tumble from atop her piano bench is one such blooper.
02. Joe Jonas
During what should have been a smooth stage entrance, Jonas Brother Joe hit a speed bump, tripping over the frame of a window and landing hands-first into a floor full of broken glass. Ouch!
01. Beyonce
Beyonce lands on our list, yet again, for failing to plant her heels on the steps of a seemingly mile-high staircase on the live stage. One misstep and Queen B fell from her throne and went tumbling down … and down … and down!
“F#CK THURSDAY,” or so says Lady GaGa on her Twitter account because was set to premiere her new music video for her latest single, ‘You And I’, on Thursday August 18th on MTV, but she has decided to surprise fans by just releasing it minutes ago.
You And I is the fourth single to be taken of GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’ album and was filmed in Springfield, Nebraska. In the video GaGa walks from New York City to Nebraska to get her boyfriend back.
Describing the video she said “I’m walking with no luggage and no nothing and it’s just me and my ankles are bleeding a little bit and there’s grass stuck in my shoes and I’ve got this outfit on and it’s real sort of New York clothing and I’m sprinting… And the video is about the idea that when you’re away from someone you love, it’s torture, I knew I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles to get him back.”
The video will still be officially released on TV on August 18th at 7:49 pm EST and after the premiere GaGa will sit down for an exclusive live interview, answer fan questions and give a special announcement to MTV’s Sway Calloway. If you want to ask her a quesiton you can go on Twitter using and mention @MTVNews using the #MTVGAGA hashtag.
What do you think of the video? I am kind of loving it!
This better be a joke but according to new reports Lady GaGa is set to play Amy Winehouse in a film based on the singer’s turbulent life that leads right up to her tragic death.
For some strange reasons producers think that GaGaa would be perfect to star in the role and they are already in secret talks with her to portray Winehouse on the big screen.
“Lady Gaga worshipped Amy and would love nothing more than to transform herself into her idol on the big screen. She’d be spot on performing Amy’s songs and has got the right look and bolshy attitude,” says a source.
Apparently after completing her two-year long Monster Ball world tour GaGa was given tons of scripts but she has been holding out on the perfect role and for her that is playing Winehouse.
“Gaga’s been itching to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the ideal role to launch her film career,” the source continued.
An insider close to GaGa says her “management team had been discussing possible film ventures before Amy’s untimely death. But there’s only ever been one role she wants and that’s to play Amy.”
When news broke of Winehouse’s death GaGa was one of the first celebrities to comment and say how devasted she was to hear the news because Winehouse was one of her biggest inspirations.
While I think they kind of look alike again I say this better be a joke, GaGa lists everyone under the sun as her “biggest inspiration” and really isn’t it too soon to start making a movie based on Winehouse’s death considering she’s not even dead a full two weeks?
Billboard asked their readers to vote for the best music videos of all time from the past three decades – the 80′s, the 90′s and the 00′s and here is the what they came up with it. Instead of me posting 30 videos here I decided to pick the top three from each decade and post them. Follow the link below to see the full 30 top videos.
From the 80′s
3. Cyndi Lauper “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” (1983)
Cyndi herself wasn’t the only colorful thing in her 1983 video. The clip is an ’80s gem for its sitcom-y vibe, with wrestler Captain Lou Albano in a white wife-beater undershirt playing Cyndi’s dad.
2. Madonna “Like a Prayer” (1989)
The religious imagery in the 1989 hit quickly got Madge into hot water with Pepsi, whom she was doing commercials with at the time. But nevermind the fact that the Vatican condemned it, the scenes of crosses and Madonna getting cozy with a saintly character in a church have remained memorable for 20+ years.
1. Michael Jackson “Thriller” (1983)
If the Video Music Awards had existed in 1983, MTV would have had to practically create a category just for the culture-dominating ingeniousness of “Thriller.” It’s little wonder that the video was up for several VMAs even a year later when the awards show kicked off. And almost 30 years after the MJ’s epic horror-movie-style ghouls and zombies grooved and paraded into the hearts of music lovers, it’s still tops with Billboard.com’s voters, capturing a whopping 65% of the vote in our poll. He’s not just the King of Pop, he’s the king of music videos, too.
From the 90′s
3. Madonna “Vogue” (1990)
Madonna, like Jacksons Janet and Michael, knows that one way to make your video a must-watch is for it to couple a great song (check) with an irresistible dance routine (check). Add a black-and-white look that’s straight out of 1940s Hollywood’s glamorous silver screen era, and you’ve got “Vogue,” which continues to remind all just how well Madonna knows how to strike a pose.
2. Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson “Scream” (1995)
Black and white. Set in outer space. Directed by Mark Romanek on a budget of millions. Featuring not one but TWO superstar Jacksons: Michael and Janet. What’s not to love?
1. Britney Spears “…Baby One More Time” (1998)
Kicking off a fruitful career, the teenaged Britney won the fervent love of millions of fans with this instant pop classic set inside a high school and prominently featuring Ms. Spears dancing in her mini-skirted take on the school uniform. You loved it too: “Baby One More Time” took 40% of the vote for 1990s videos.
From the 00′s:
3. Panic! At The Disco “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” (2006)
A wedding, a circus, and a shit-ton of glitter and facepaint: It was a bold first look for Panic! At the Disco. Carnie infidelity led the Shane Drake-directed clip to win Video of the Year at the 2006 VMAs. Five years and personnel (and punctuation) changes later, Panic! At the Disco still have a flair for the super dramatic in their videos.
2. Britney Spears “Toxic” (2004)
In 2004′s Joseph Kahn-directed “Toxic” video, Britney Spears proved that she comes in every flavor: futuristic stewardess, fiery “Alias”-esque agent, and brunette super-heroine. But the one role that stays constant through the dance-heavy clip: Sultry man-eater.
1. Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” (2009)
Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” video, as elaborate a plotline as it had, was just the appetizer to her cinematic climax of 2009′s “Bad Romance,” which won Video of the Year at the 2010 VMAs. As an android queen with an evil streak in the Francis Lawrence-directed clip, Gaga struts around a Balkan bathhouse in Alexander McQueen couture, asserting her “free bitch”-ness in the end.
Pretty good list overall I think, what about you? To see the full top 10 from each decade then head on over to billboard.
Lady GaGa has released her music video for her latest song, ‘The Edge Of Glory’, and as you can see below it is an extremely boring video, well in my opinion anyway.
Maybe it’s because I’m used to GaGa’s videos being so out there that this one just seems to be boring because it’s basically just her dancing around on a fire escape while singing along to the song. This isn’t the original concept for the video though, because Joseph Kahn was originally supposed to direct the video but there seems to have been some drama that went down on the set.
Apparently in Kahns concept for the video he had a hospital scene, a scene at the Brooklyn Bridge and a mermaid scene but during the shoot GaGa and her team decided they didn’t want this so she took over and directed the video herself.
Meanwhile the now infamous mea dress that GaGa wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards is now heading for the Rock Hall Of Fame and while this is all going on GaGa is continuing her fight to support gay rights because she has found herself in the center of the battle to legalize gay marriage in New York.
The Forbes’ Best Paid Celebrities Under 30 list is certainly an all-star cast!
Lady Gaga topped the list by grossing $170 million. She is followed by the youngest celeb to make the roll, 17-year-old teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, who raked in $53 million.
Miami Heat star LeBron James came in third with $48 million, fourth place went to tennis star Roger Federer with $47 million, while Taylor Swift rounded out the top five with $45 million.
Carrie Underwood brought in a cool $15 million, which placed her in the No. 19 slot.
Other celebs on the list include Katy Perry with $44 million, Rihanna with $29 million, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart who tied with $20 million and Miley Cyrus who earned $15 million.
In an candid interview, Courtney Love talked about her extensive drug use, her relationship with Kurt Cobain and her concerns about Lady Gaga‘s future.
She also talks about shooting up heroin at a party she attended in the mi-90s at Charlie Sheen‘s house.
“My boyfriend at the time took me to this star-studded party at Charlie Sheen’s house in Malibu. Tom Cruise was there, and Madonna, and my… convinced me to shoot up. ‘Come on, everyone’s doing it.’ So that’s when my whole heroin drama began,” she admitted.
On the first time she did drugs:
“The first time I got high on coke is captured on camera. I was 19 at the time. My friend Jennifer shot a whole roll of film of us doing giant lines. It wasn’t a very pleasant experience, though.”
On whether there’s a connection between drug use and creativity:
“Definitely. Look at the most brilliant artists of the past two centuries. Proust. Tennessee Williams. Scott Fitzgerald. Jim Morrison. Kurt. They all were f—ed up on something or other. It goes with the territory. Artists are more sensitive than other people. Maybe we need something to dull the pain.”
On doing drugs with Kurt Cobain:
“Before I met Kurt, I was more or less clean, but then Kurt earned his first million and decided to become a junkie, and I decided to become a junkie along with him. That’s the co-dependent side of me. After he died there were all these stupid jokes I made up: What did the co-dependent say when the junkie jumped out the window? “Wait a minute, I’m coming!”
On Lady Gaga:
“She may be doing fine at the moment, but I’m worried about her future. She’s very young, and she’s very talented, but she doesn’t seem to have any female friends. Or any straight guy friends for that matter. Instead, she surrounds herself with this coterie of gay stylists and advisors who’ve turned her into this weird, sexless Barbie doll… If she doesn’t watch out she’ll turn into a lonely drag queen.”
Lady Gaga continued her hectic promotional tour and visited the”Late Show with David Letterman yesterday in New York and this is the outfit that she decided to leave the building wearing. I can’t say I’m too shocked because after all this is Lady GaGa.
In other news it seems like Amazon really wanted to get business yesterday because they decided to sell the standard version of GaGa’s new album, ‘Born This Way’, for just 99 cents yesterday and it seemed to have work because the website apparently nearly crashed when the album was released.
It’s been announced that Born This Way could sell up to a million copies in it’s first week and as we all know given the music industry now this is quite incredible. Have you listened to the album yet? What are your thoughts? I myself am loving it, even though it pains me to say it.
Oprah has held on to the top spot of Forbes‘ annual 100 most powerful and wealthiest celebrities in the world nearly every year for the past seven years but today it’s been announced that Lady GaGa has knocked her off the top spot. In total the full 100 celebrities earned a combined total of $4.5 billion over the past year but the list doesn’t just go based on money, it also goes on social media and other stuff which is how GaGa bumped Oprah because let’s face it when it comes to the media GaGa is the most used name in the world at the moment. Here is the top 10:
01. Lady GaGa
02. Oprah
03. Justin Bieber
04. U2
05. Elton John
06. Tiger Woods
07. Taylor Swift
08. Bon Jovi
09. Simon Cowell
10. LeBron James
You can check out the full 100 list over at Forbes.
Last week Lady GaGa released ‘The Edge Of Glory’ as a promotional song on iTunes and as promised now she has released another new song, ‘Hair’.
GaGa released both Hair and The Edge Of Glory as promotional singles for her album, Born This Way, but after the latter blew up the charts and went number 1 on iTunes all over the world she made it an official single.
In the song she sings “I just want to be myself and I want you to love me for who I am, I just want to be myself and I want you to know, I am my hair.”
What do you think of this song? I’m loving it already, Born This Way is shaping up to be a pretty good album so far in my opinion.
