Yesterday, a French court ordered eBay to pay almost $60 million in damages to Louis Vuitton for allowing the sale of fake LV items.
I conducted a simple search on eBay which produced just under 2,700 entries for Louis Vuitton!
The court has now stopped eBay from selling four kinds of perfumes, which are Givenchy, Christian Dior, Guerlain, and Kenzo. They will also not be allowed to sell six LVMH brands.
The court determined that eBay had committed “serious errors” by allowing the sales of fake LVMH goods. They also said eBay violated the perfume sales distribution network, which was setup by Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior Couture.
Of course, eBay said they are going to launch an appeal, believing the court did not uphold copyright law. A spokesperson for eBay has said,
“This decision is not based on combating counterfeit material. It is based on LVMH’s desire to protect its commercial practices and exclude competition. This is being done at the expense of the consumers and sellers to whom eBay is always offering opportunities.”
The case, which started a year and a half ago, stated that eBay knowingly allowed the sales of counterfeit products on its site.
Frankly, how could eBay possibly know if each item listed is in fact authentic, if they are not able to personally inspect each item for themselves? On the opposite side of the coin, I own a Louis Vuitton — if I want to place it on eBay and sell it, I should have the right to do that.

Rolling Stones guitarist and rock n’ roll bad boy Keith Richards has become the new public face of Louis Vuitton.
Alrighty then.
Rolling Stones guitarist and rock-and-roll bad boy Keith Richards is to become the new public face of Louis Vuitton, the French luxury fashion house said on Tuesday.
For his first ever ad campaign, the 64-year-old Richards — who has a rocky history of drug use — is seen cradling his guitar on a hotel-room bed, the lights part obscured by skull-print black drapes.
“Some journeys cannot be put into words. New York. 3 am. Blues in C,” runs the slogal of the ad, shot by US photographer Annie Leibovitz and due to appear in the magazine press next month.
Richards plans to donate the fee for the ad to the Climate Project, launched by Nobel-winning former US vice-president Al Gore and backed by Louis Vuitton.
Famous faces stars to have represented Vuitton in the past include former Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev, French screen icon Catherine Deneuve, and US actresses Scarlett Johansson and Uma Thurman.
Style and class meets snorting blow off a hooker’s ass… nice. Only one thing comes to mind though….

This may not be very surprising to many of you, but here’s another story about Kate Moss and drugs. Last week she was at a friends’ birthday party and she started begging the DJ to give her drugs.
DJ Elliot Eastwick says Kate was not all there when she approached him.
“It was obvious she was on drugs, I’ve seen enough drugged up people to know…[she was] sweaty, fidgety and desperate to dance. She kept saying ‘make me rave, make me rave’.”
Then she got into a fight with Sienna Miller over her boyfriend Rhys Ifans. Kate told Sienna “she’d have an enemy for life” if she hurt Ifans.
This will probably only help her career. Last time there was a drug scandal she signed contracts with Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, and Virgin Mobile.
Maybe she and Britney Spears should host a parenting class together.

It’s gone beyond a mere admiration, Ashley Tisdale truly wants to be Jessica Simpson.
Note the long floral dress, the blonde weave, the Louis Vuitton bag carrying her little white dog, and the big sunglasses. Frankly, I don’t get the fascination… Jessica is annoying as hell.
If you doubt me, watch the video below and Ashley’s reaction to just ‘meeting‘ Jessica Simpson.
The Simpsons made their first high fashion photo spread in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar.
The Simpsons were dressed up in Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Lanvin, Versace, and Viktor & Rolf. Actual gowns from the designers Fall 2007 shows are represented in the spread.
HOW many string bikinis does it take to fill a dozen large suitcases? And are any of them fake?
That was the question on the lips of fashion lovers yesterday, about the ‘Louis Vuitton‘ bikini she wore for her famous shower on Bondi beach last week.
Keen-eyed (or is that green eyed?) experts have been abuzz about the string cossie she wore with Vuitton lovers bombarding online style forums to bitch the two piece was a fake.
“I collect Louis Vuitton, I know my brand. That bikini is a fake,” declared one web whinger to Vogue.com.au.
