Paris Hilton Doesn’t Owe Money For Movie Flopping

Even though her movie Pledge This flopped at the box office, Paris Hilton doesn’t owe a single dime to movie investors who were suing her.

U.S. District judge Federico Moreno just announced in a Miami courtroom that Hilton won’t owe any of the $8.3 million she was being sued for, saying that “one never knows how much a movie may make.”

The investors for the movies said Hilton didn’t promote the movie so they decided to sue her for $8.3 million because they believe the movie would have made that much at the box office.

This doesn’t mean she doesn’t have to hand money over though, while she doesn’t have to pay for that – she may just have to give them some of the $1 million fee she received for acting (I use the word acting very lightly) in the movie.

Hilton said she did all she could in order for the movie to do well but the producers were amateur and kept sending her last minute appearances that conflicted with her schedule.

The judge agreed and said “the court finds compelling evidence in the record that ‘Pledge This!’ lost money because the film’s inexperienced producers hastily cobbled together a wholly inadequate marketing plan, they sent scattershot requests to their principal star in the hopes that she could find time to promote a sinking ship.”

Paris Hilton seems to get off with everything doesn’t she?

Paris Hilton Gets Sued

Paris Hilton is in trouble for supposedly not doing enough to make National Lampoon Pledge This! sound hot.

Not concerning itself with what a daunting task that was, the film’s distributor, Florida-based Worldwide Entertainment Group, sued the heiress Tuesday for breach of contract, charging that she didn’t come through after being paid $1 million to star in and promote the 2006 comedy.

Oh, she starred in it alright, playing sorority queen Victoria English. But, per the lawsuit filed today in U.S. District Court in Miami, Hilton—who was also listed as an executive producer—owes $75,000 in damages for failing to provide “reasonable promotion and publicity” for the movie.

The straight-to-DVD Pledge This! came out in December 2006, with Hilton’s mug plastered across the cover, indicating that she was a major part of the film. And, if memory serves, the presidential candidate and star of the upcoming Repo! The Genetic Opera did not go to jail until June 2007, so that wasn’t what was keeping her busy at the time.

A rep for Hilton didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. Paris, just because you regret your commitments, it doesn’t mean you can just ignore them away.
