Lindsay Lohan Turns Down Plea Deal, Going To Trial

The other day I told you how Lindsay Lohan was considering taking a plea deal that Judge Keith Schwartz offered her in the necklace theft case she is involved in but she has decided to turn it down and fight her case in a trial.

If Lindsay had of taken the plea deal then she would have been sent to jail for about 19 days but now she is definitely going to trial, because she is adamant of her innocence. The preliminary hearing will take place on April 22 which will see both sides give their evidence and if the new judge, Judge Stephanie Sautner, decides there is enough evidence then it will go to trial. Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, says:

“Ms. Lohan has maintained her innocence from the moment this case was filed and she has never wavered, though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking ‘the deal’, the truth is, Ms. Lohan is innocent; she has a strong defense; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her.”

If Lindsay is found guilty then she faces up to three years in the chokey because of her probation violation as well as the grand theft felony. I guess time will tell what happens. This family are seriously something else.

Lindsay Lohan May Take Plea Deal And Accept Jail Time

Ever since she was accused of stealing a necklace Lindsay Lohan has maintained her innocence and has been adamant that she wont go to jail. But now TMZ are reporting she is considering taking a plea deal and going to jail.

Apparently Judge Keith Schwartz had offered Lindsay and her attorney, Shawn Holley, a plea deal that would see Lindsay being sent to jail for three months but she would be let out after 19 days because of overcrowding. Lindsay originally insisted on not taking the deal but now she is starting to realize it might be the best option.

If she does choose to fight in court she could either get off with it but in reality she will lose and could get over a year in jail for violating her probation as well as more time for a felony over theft. Lindsay will be back in court on Friday to either accept the plea deal or fight it.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve wrote about Lindsay Lohan being in court and possibly going to jail.

Chris Brown & Rihanna Face Off In LA Court

Rihanna had a big date with Chris Brown today … along with a judge, a few lawyers and a courtroom full of onlookers.

Chris Brown has copped a plea in his assault case. He won’t do jail time. He’s also been ordered to completely stay clear from Rihanna.

He’ll spend 180 days probation in Virginia which is where Brown lives – it’s equivalent to Caltrans or graffiti cleanup.

He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault. He’ll get supervised probation. He’ll have to come back to court every three months.

He must also enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.

He got off entirely too lightly… this kid will not learn a thing! Didn’t Chris say the truth will come out in court? Pfft!!

Brown Wants Misdemeanor Plea, No Jail Time

Chris Brown would cop a plea, but only to a misdemeanor and with no jail time.

Brown’s people have consulted with outside legal eagles — including law school professors — who have said Rihanna‘s own aggressiveness takes it out of the felony category. Sources say Rihanna was the first one to strike — slapping and striking Brown “numerous times” while he was driving, after seeing the text message from another woman. And Rihanna was fighting Brown as he punched and hurt her. We’re told much of this is reflected in the official police report based on what Rihanna told cops. As a result, they say, this is not a case that demands a felony plea.

On the other side, there are plenty of cases in which the woman engages the man in a fight but the jury convicts the male because it was an unfair fight and the man could have walked away. The photographs of Rihanna — the most graphic of which have not been seen by the public — demonstrate Brown’s superior strength. Add to that the fact that Brown had no significant injuries and it presents problems for him.

Perhaps worse for Brown, sources told cops he had beaten her before and the violence had been escalating.

And there’s this. According to the detective’s note filed with the search warrant papers, Brown sent a text message to Rihanna’s assistant in which he apologized for what he had done to Rihanna and said he was getting help. That would be admissible in court and extremely damaging — as a legal admission.
