Learning his IRS lesson the hard way, original ‘Survivor’ champ Richard Hatch was ordered on Friday to return to prison to serve a nine-month sentence, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
A judge is punishing Hatch for (still) not paying taxes he allegedly owes on the $1 million prize (plus thousands for additional media appearances) he earned back in 2000 as the very first winner of CBS’ hit series.
Hatch now owes approximately $2 million in taxes and penalties. He has vehemently proclaimed his innocence.
The 49-year-old Army veteran already served time behind bars for tax evasion, for more than three years. He was released in 2009, vowing that “whatever is owed, I will pay,” but describing himself as “financially devastated.”
At the time, he remarked that his years in jail “reduced my arrogance,” but insisted he was persecuted by an overzealous prosecution that failed, according to Hatch, to overlook his sexual orientation. He told Matt Lauer, “My personal opinion: [The prosecutor] discriminated against me. I do believe that. I don’t think you or anyone else could deny that we, as homosexuals, face discrimination.”
Hatch is now under orders to surrender to U.S. Marshals by noon on Monday. District Court Judge William E. Smith slapped the TV personality with an additional sentence to take effect after prison — 29 months of supervised release, with a requirement that 25 percent of Hatch’s gross wages be paid to the IRS.
The judge scolded Hatch on Friday, “You can continue to proclaim your innocence. You don’t have the option of engaging in this type of game or negotiation with the court. It needs to be a severe punishment. That’s the only thing that will deter you in the future.”
At the sentencing in Rhode Island, where Hatch resides, Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew J. Reich told the court Hatch “acted with deliberation” by failing to file “and did not make any effort to pay the amount he owed in taxes and penalties to the IRS.”
U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha said in a news release, “The sentence imposed by Judge Smith, the maximum sentence allowed under the guidelines, sends the right message that regardless how hard you try to manipulate the system to avoid paying your taxes, in the end you will be held accountable.”

Lil Wayne is now a free man because he has been released from Rikers Island jail in New York City after he served 8 months of his 1 year sentence.
Weezy has to make a quick stop in Arizona to sign some paperwork involving a 2008 drug case and then he will begin a 36-month probation term.
After that it’s time for the rapper to get his party on because Mack Maine, the President of his record label, is throwing him a huge party on Sunday at a Miami strip club. A radio station in New York is even giving away free passes to the party as part of a competition.

George Michael was released from prison earlier today after serving four weeks behind bars for driving his Range Rover while under the influence of cannabis.
George served half of his eight week sentence that he received last month, they snuck him out of the big house a couple of hours early to avoid all the paparazzi. After he got released he stepped outside of his home in London to talk to the press. He said…
“‘I’m coming out here on my own so that you’ll realise I just want to start again. I’m going to try to stop running away from you guys. You’ll get sick of me. You’ll see me about. I just want to say thank you for everybody who has supported me in there, it’s quite inspirational. It’s going to be nothing to do with prison.”
During his stint in prison he released a statement saying that he was doing fine and thanked all his fans for the thousands of letters he received, he also said that as a way to repay his fans he would release new music.

He’s only out of prison since December but rapper T.I. is already in trouble with the police again, this time for possession of a controlled substance.
T.I. and his wife, Tameka Cottle, were driving down Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles last night when they got pulled over. Just like with Paris Hilton, the cops say they smelled a big of marijuana coming from the car.
After searching the car the cops found methamphetamines and ecstasy so they arrested the couple, who just got married married in June, and took them to the station. They posted bail of $10,000 and were released at 4:00 am.
This could all see his ass thrown back into the big house because it is probably a violation of his probation. Are these celebrities stupid? If your carrying drugs in your car then make sure to drive safely so the police don’t pull you over.

The latest Lindsay Lohan drama has been announced and this time she may be making her second trip to the slammer pretty soon.
TMZ reports that Lindsay might be heading to jail because she violated the terms of her probation, we will all find out next month when she goes to court to face the judge.
Judge Marsha Revel apparently made it crystal clear that Lindsay must attend alcohol education courses once every 7 days and if she doesn’t she was going straight to jail.
Because this is Lindsay we are talking about we all know she broke this agreement, but the bitch was clever in her ways because the school she attended was to only report to courts if she didn’t show up for a solid 21 days, Lindsay knew this and showed up on the 21st day – right when they were to report her. Meaning she met the schools requirement but also ignored the judge’s ruling of attending every 7 days.
Her lawyer said “We have received no negative written report from the program and contend Ms. Lohan is therefore in compliance.”
TMZ say that while the school have no problem with this going on, the judge is pissed off and might just send Lindsay Lohan to the slammer.

O.J. Simpson is despised around the world, but inside prison, he’s treated like royalty by his gay posse!
That’s the startling revelation of a former inmate, who recently served time next to the disgraced football hero at Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Center.
With the help of adoring prisoners and guards, O.J. is able to gamble on sporting events, get special privileges – and even receive massages from a group of gay inmates known as “The Girls,” says the source.
“O.J. may be a pariah on the outside, but in prison, he’s still a somebody.”
He’s really tight with ‘The Girls,’” said the source, referring to the openly gay transgender part of the prison population.
“Whenever we’d be let out to the yard, O.J. would almost always hang out with them. The ‘girls’ treated him like he was a king.”
And “Daddy Juice” really knew how to take care of his “girls”, the source said.

Lil’ Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession on Thursday, a move that will likely land the Grammy-winning star in jail for a year. He previously had pleaded not guilty to illegal gun possession charges that carried at least 3½ years in prison. His trial had been due to start Jan. 20.
Police pulled over Wayne’s tour bus in Columbus Circle (near NYC’s Central Park) on July 22, 2007. They said they had seen and smelled marijuana smoke wafting out the door before the bus left a concert venue minutes earlier. Police said that as an officer approached, the rapper (real name Wayne Carter) tossed away a Louis Vuitton bag containing a gun.
Prosecutors said trace amounts of DNA found on the loaded gun connected it to Wayne. His defense lawyer said the gun wasn’t his, and that there were flaws in the way the evidence was tested.
The defense also disputed the whole premise used by officers to search the bus (pot smoke).
According to the AP, Wayne acted politely in court when acknowledging that he had a .40 caliber semi-automatic gun on the bus.
Lil’ Wayne’s trouble with the law doesn’t end here, though. He is also scheduled for trial in Arizona on felony drug possession and weapons charges. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.

Apparently one Sheboygan County Jail inmate isn’t a fan of “The Office.” Prosecutors said an argument over the NBC sitcom led to a scuffle that resulted in a fresh felony charge against one inmate.
The criminal complaint filed this week says two inmates were watching the show last week when 18-year-old Shacoya S. Crawley told them she wanted to watch something else.
The complaint said the inmates refused to give her the remote, so she pulled the hair of a 33-year-old woman and hit her in the face.
A message left Thursday with Crawley’s attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
Crawley was being held on charges of arson and reckless endangerment for allegedly setting fire to a mop after an acquaintance wouldn’t answer her knocks on the door.
Now The Office needs to spoof this — a complete riot!

Like the title says, Janine Lindemulder, a porn star has been sentenced to six months in federal prison and will have to pay around $300,000 in back taxes after she pleaded guilty to intentionally failing to pay her income taxes.
Lindemulder, whose real name is Janine James, admitted making a down payment on a $647,000 Eugene, Oregon home and buying a Jeep, recreational vehicle, piano and furniture while owing $300,000 in federal income taxes.

Once she is out of the chokey she will then have to live in a residential community corrections center for up to six months, to make it more interesting, the money she bought her home with came from a divorce settlement from her ex husband who left her when she was eight months pregnant, Jesse James, now married to Sandra Bullock.

OJ Simpson isn’t the only person going to the slammer, Boy George (real name George O’Dowd) will also be going to prison after he was found guilty of false imprisonment.
Late last month I posted that George was brought to court on charges of false imprisonment of male escort, Audun Carlsen, well today he was found guilty by a London jury.
To make the whole thing short, Carlsen accused George of handcuffing him up in his London home and then whipping him with chains.
George denied the charges against him but said Carlsen had hacked into his laptop and stolen/tampered with photographs on it. He admitted to handcuffing the escort to his bed while he “investigated” the laptop.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 16, until then he is released on bail, the judge said some jail time was “probable” but he is unlikely to get the maximums sentence of life in prison.

 An obese inmate who goes by the nickname “Big Mike” has been granted early parole because a Canadian prison could not accommodate his 430-pound frame.
Michel Lapointe, 37, was released from prison earlier this week after serving 25 months in Montreal’s Bordeaux Jail for conspiracy, drug trafficking and gangsterism.
The Quebec Parole Board said this week that it based its decision for an early release on Lapointe’s health, along with factors such as good behavior and the support of his wife and mother.
The two-officer board stressed that Lapointe was not violent and did not pose a risk to society.
Lapointe will have to follow a series of conditions, such as finding a job and staying away from bars. He will also have to meet with a parole officer on a regular basis over the next three months.
A former chef, Lapointe was arrested on drug-related charges in 2006. In February 2008, he pleaded guilty to all of his charges. At the time of his arrest, Lapointe weighed 375 pounds.
Defense lawyer Clemente Monterosso said the prison’s poor diet caused his client to gain more than 50 pounds.
Following the court’s decision to release Lapointe, his mother, Claire Lapointe, said her son has always had weight problems. She said the problems were exacerbated while he was in jail.
Convicts’ weight has also been an issue in the United States. In one case, a 500-pound New York man accused of selling knockoff guitars was arraigned in a pickup truck in a parking lot because he could not fit into the courthouse.

William Balfour, the man suspected of killing Jennifer Hudson‘s mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew found out he will remain in prison without getting parole during an Illinois Prisoner Review Board today.
In the 35-minute hearing the board, Balfour denied any involvements in the murders, he also denied the allegations he was spotted carrying a gun similar to the one used in the murders after his girlfriend said she spotted him carrying a .45 caliber gun, which matched the murder weapon.
He has still not been charged of the killings but remains the only suspect. Meanwhile, Hudson’s sister Julia paid tribute to her mother =,who would have turned 58 on Nov. 7 – with a MySpace message that reads, “Happy Birthday Mama!!!!!”

A DeKalb County judge sentenced rapper Da Brat to three years in prison Friday for striking a woman with a rum bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.
Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also sentenced the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service.
The incident happened at a Halloween party at Studio 72 nightclub on Oct. 31 2007. The club is on Highway 29 near Tucker.
About six members of Harris’s family wept when a sheriff’s deputy took her into custody.
“I love y’all,†Harris, 34, said as she was led out of the courtroom.
“We love you too†the relatives replied in unison.
Harris entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault.
The victim, a waitress at the club, had to be hospitalized after being struck by Harris, and Flake said the woman suffered permanent facial scarring.
Harris and the victim had gotten into an altercation prior to the assault, police said at the time.
