Katie Couric has confirmed what everyone pretty much knew – she’s leaving CBS’ Evening News even though she denied it just two weeks ago. She confirmed this in a statement to People:
“I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News. “I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future. I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling. The bottom line is that I love doing all kinds of different stories. I have a lot of areas of interest and I want to be able to fulfill all of that.”
No word on what network or even what type of show she will move on to once her contract runs up in June but it’s rumored that ABC are hoping to make a bid for, there’s also rumors that she could end up with a slot on CBS’ 60 Minutes.

This week has been full or rumors and reports of people leaving their seats as TV journalists and presenters, the latest comes in the form of Matt Lauer who is supposedly leaving The Today Show when his contract expires next year.
Entertainment Tonight report that Lauer’s contract expires on December 31st 2012 and he has no intentions to sign the dotted line on another contract. This comes hot off the heels of the news that his co-presenter Meredith Vieria may not renew her contract for Today when it expires later this year. Today show bosses released a statement saying:
“There seems to be an awful lot of speculation around news anchors these days, and it’s not our practice to comment on any of it. Matt Lauer has a long term contract with NBC News and ‘Today.’ The Today Show anchors are currently under contract and firmly in place.”"
This all comes with the news that Matt’s former Today Show co-host, Katie Couric, is also leaving her gig on the Evening News after joining the show back in 2006.
Now there are rumors that both Matt and Katie are planning on teaming up with Jeff Zucker, the former Today Show exec producer, and launch their own show. I guess time will tell how this all pans out.

The plane had just landed, but he was ready to take off.
A JetBlue flight attendant blew his top, grabbed some beer and bolted out an emergency slide at Kennedy Airport Monday – then headed home to have sex with his boyfriend.
After he was bonked in the head by a bag, Steven Slater stunned passengers by spewing profanity and ranting about quitting as the flight from Pittsburgh pulled up to the gate about noon.
“To the f—–g a–hole who told me to f–k off, it’s been a good 28 years,” Slater, 38, purred, cops said. “I’ve had it. That’s it,” he added, a passenger said.
The mad-as-hell steward grabbed a couple of beers and popped one open before activating the emergency exit, witnesses told airport employees. After tossing his two carry-on bags on the slide, he followed them to the tarmac.
Slater – who actually first started working for airlines 20 years ago, not 28 – then walked to the AirTrain, stripped off his company tie and flung it off as bemused passengers watched.
“I wish we could all quit our jobs like that,” said passenger Phil Catelinet, 36, of Brooklyn, who was on the flight and the AirTrain.
“He seemed kind of happy about it. He was like, ‘I just quit my job.’ “
Port Authority police said it took jetBlue 25 minutes to report the incident, allowing Slater time to leave the scene.
Cops found him in bed with his boyfriend when they arrived to arrest him at a beachfront home in the Rockaways with a porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, sources said. Click here to see a short clip of Steven being taken away in handcuffs while throwing a “Yeah…AND?” smirk at the cameras.
Slater was wearing a sheepish smile when Port Authority detectives walked him to a waiting van a few hours later. He was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
JetBlue would not say how long Slater had worked for the airline, but he wrote on his MySpace page that he was “enjoying being back in the skies” after a five-year break.

Jordan, aka Katie Price, has decided to quit her music career before it even got started because her single flopped.
Katie released her debut single ‘Free To Love Again’ in the UK recently but it failed to even make the top 40 charts so she took the hint that nobody wants her and has quit.
A source says “Katie wants to concentrate on what she does best 100%. She knows what she’s good at whether its writing books, modelling or appearing on her own reality show but the pop career isn’t for her.”
Katie, who was supposed to perform at London’s G-A-Y club this weekend, says…
“It’s with great regret and disappointment that I will not perform at this Saturday’s G-A-Y. Following recent events, it has been decided that this performance should be pulled from my schedule. After much consideration the last thing I want to do is put on a show which I am not completely happy with.”
Let’s all join hands and thank god for her making decision. The single was absolutely awful.

Today is the day that Lindsay Lohan is heading to the slammer so why not celebrate it with her new spread in Complex magazine in which she looks kinda sexy.
Yes I said she looks kinda sexy and I know it’s pretty much all thanks to the wonderful photoshopping that the editors at Complex did. In the article that comes with these photos they say that Lindsay showed up hours late for the photoshoot and she never gave the interview that she was supposed to.
Now lets get to the news roundup that is surrounding Lohan before she heads to the chokey. First up is her newly hired lawyer, Robert Shapiro, has just quit working for her and as of yet nobody knows who will be representing her when she hands herself in today.
The second piece of news is that Lindsay will be going full frontal nude for her new movie Inferno, which is based on the life of Linda Lovelace. The movie is set to go into production when Lohan completes her jail stint and 90 days in rehab.
As for heading to jail today, Lindsay went to her Twitter account last night and wrote “the only “bookings” that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i’d be “booking” into Jail… eeeks.”

Katherine Heigl has been whining and giving out about her gig on Grey’s Anatomy but she has finally gotten her wish and is leaving the show.
Back in September 2009 she and her husband, Josh Kelley, adopted a baby girl called Naleigh from South Korea and she later took a three-month leave to spend time with the baby but since then she never returned and caused a big fuss to finally leave.
Well she tells Entertainment Weekly, “I am done, we just finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted. I started a family and it changed everything for me, it changed my desire to work full-time.â€
If you still watch the show, please tell me why because it got awful, don’t expect her to return to screen for a goodbye. She is never returning to the set and her character was supposed to.
I’ve always disliked Katherine Heigl because she comes across as one of the most ungrateful people in the entertainment industry, she is constantly biting the hand that feeds her so I’m not surprised she isn’t going to return for the last few episodes.

Well after all the speculation about whether or not she would be returning to American Idol, it is now official that Paula Abdul is finished with the show.
Paula took to her twitter account to post the follow:
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all.. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent,but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”
While on his morning radio show KISS FM earlier today, Ryan Seacrest said he was shocked and that he is bummed she isn’t returning.
Fox TV released a statement saying “Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show, while Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.”
Sources also say that she wanted a 30% raise and was negotiating a 8 figure deal to return to the show which now sees Seacrest, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi all flying to Denver for the first auditions to the ninth season on Thursday.
Just so you know there is rumors that this is all a publicity stunt and Paula Abdul will indeed be back.

Octo Mom Nadya Suleman is without a publicist — again. Victor Munoz stated that he quit as Suleman’s rep Friday night.
“It just got to be too much. It’s pretty much a free for all over there right now. They are freaking out right now.
Not to sound arrogant, but those people depended on me for everything. You have no idea what I’ve had to do for these people.
Nadya got real greedy. This woman is nuts. This I can say: what ultimately destroyed the business arrangement was personal reasons.”

Munoz — who plans to meet with his lawyers Monday to go over the terms of his contract and confidentiality clause — did not go into further detail.
Suleman’s first publicist, Joann Killeen, stepped down after her firm received over 100 graphic e-mail and voicemail threats.
“They’d put me in the wood chipper and throw me in the bottom of the ocean and hope I die,” Killeen has said. “We’ve gotten her through the worst part of it and now they are putting their venom and anger toward us.”
