New Spider-Man Andrew Garfield and director Marc Webb are starting to meet with actresses to play the webslinger’s love interest (who won’t be Mary Jane) in the rebooted franchise.
The front-runners are reportedly a bunch of up-and-coming, slightly indie chicks: Lily “Daughter of Phil” Collins, Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, Emma Roberts, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’s Teresa Palmer, and Scott Pilgrim’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Based solely on their wondrous names, we are rooting for Poots or Lovibond.

What can’t Spider-Man do? Well, there’s a lot of things he cannot do like run around on eight legs and lay eggs, but that is beside the point.
This October, Spider-Man’s cover will include a kiss between two men. The couple are in the lower right hand quadrant. While it is still a small picture and not as prominent as it could be, it will still be seen as a step forward.
