Golfing legend Greg Norman and former tennis star Chris Evert will marry this weekend in the Bahamas, the Australian Associated Press reported Thursday.
The couple, both 53, are to wed Saturday at sunset on a beach in Paradise Island, the AAP said, citing various media reports. The pair announced their engagement last December.
Guests are believed to include former US presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush senior, American actor Chevy Chase, tennis great Martina Navratilova and singers Gwen Stefani and Kenny Loggins.
Norman, who has won two British Open titles among scores of other tournaments, and Evert, who won 18 Grand Slam titles, arrived in Paradise Island on Thursday.
Both are well past their heyday but they were indeed legendary figures in their games. Evert was America’s sweetheart for years, although overlapping careers with Billy Jean King and Martina Navratilova, who were arguably more dominant players. She was much more telegenic, however. Norman was one of the great golfers of the 1980s and early 1990s, although he’s probably best remembered for an epic collapse at the Masters.
But there was also plenty of publicity unauthorized by Mr. Armstrong, including three days of coverage in The New York Post, a string of articles on Us Magazine’s Web site and an article in Life & Style entitled “How Lance Stole Kate From Owen,” all chronicling Mr. Armstrong’s relationship with the actress and tabloid darling Kate Hudson.
Furthermore, many people seem to mention his two-year relationship with the singer Sheryl Crow, his romance with the fashion designer Tory Burch and his canoodling last year in a New York nightclub with Ashley Olsen, rather than his serious pursuits.

Peggy Fleming was a figure skater in the 60’s, winning a gold medal at the 1968 Winter Olympics. She parlayed her good looks into a job commentating on figure skating events that she held for over 20 years, including several Winter Olympic games. Fleming is now a breast cancer activist after successfully battling the disease in the late 90’s.

Even though she was a very talented beach volleyball player, Reece was probably more well known for her modeling and television work. Most people who grew up watching MTV in the early 90’s will remember her as host of MTV Sports.

Danica Patrick is so hot she makes people care about IndyCar racing, at least for one weekend a year. That’s a hell of an achievement and pretty much enough said.

I feel pretty comfortable saying that Biba Golic is the hottest table tennis player to ever live. She’s also the only table tennis player I’ve ever technically heard of, but I’m still willing to bet she’s the hottest.
5. Jennie Finch
Softball players don’t immediately come to mind when you think of hot female athletes, but Jennie Finch is definitely the exception. Probably for that reason, she’s the most famous softball player of all time. Finch has appeared in SI’s swimsuit issue and won an online ESPN.com poll naming her hottest female athlete.
4. Chris Evert
Chris Evert is one of the most popular women athletes the United States has ever had. Her nickname for quite awhile was actually “Chrissy America”. She was linked to damn near every high profile actor and athlete in the 70’s (including Burt Reynolds, Geraldo Rivera, Adam Faith, Vitas Gerulaitis, Pat Boone, and John Gardner “Jack” Ford, son of U.S. President Gerald Ford) and even hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live.
3. Anna Kournikova
Anna Kournikova would probably break the internet if she ever posed nude. She gets slammed unfairly for being a poor tennis player (she’s never won a singles tournament), but she was at times one of the best doubles players in the world, even reaching #1 at various times. And she has a poker named after her. Ace King. Looks good but hardly ever wins.
2. Katarina Witt
Katarina Witt appeared in Playboy in December of 1998. It was the second issue of Playboy to ever sell out, the first being the inaugural issue featuring Marilyn Monroe.

Tatum O’Neal, who has spoken and written about her years-long battle with addiction, was busted last night just blocks from her Lower East Side luxury apartment - charged with buying cocaine and crack.
Sources told The Post the 44-year-old actress - who became the youngest-ever to snag an Oscar, at age 10, for her role in “Paper Moon” - was arrested at 7:30 p.m. by detectives from Manhattan South Narcotics on Clinton Street between East Broadway and Grand Street.
“When the police approached, she asked them, ‘You know who I am, right?’ ” one source said.
“Then she said, ‘I’m researching a part - I’m doing this for a part as a junkie.’ ”
The source said detectives found a pipe on O’Neal, daughter of actor Ryan O’Neal. The pipe and screen were clean.
“Then she said she’d been clean for two years, and that she’d just came out today,” the source said.
“Can’t we just forget about this?” sources said she begged the detectives.
The suspected drug dealer, Alan Garcia, 33, also was arrested, the sources said. Both were hauled into the 7th Precinct and were expected to spend the night in custody.
O’Neal lives in a building at East Broadway and Canal, The Forward, which used to house the Jewish newspaper of the same name.
“She’s cool - it’s the last thing I thought would happen,” said a security official at her apartment building. “I’m shocked.”
O’Neal, who has three grown kids with tennis bad-boy John McEnroe, wrote in her 2004 memoir “A Paper Life” that boozing and drug-taking was in her DNA.
Her mom, the late actress Joanna Moore, was an alcoholic and hooked on amphetamines even as she was riaising Tatum and her younger brother Griffin in Los Angeles.
“My own young life had eerily echoed Addie’s [her character in 'Paper Moon'] even though my mother was still alive,” she wrote.
“In the grip of addiction, she had virtually abandoned me and Griffin, leaving us in squalor - as well as beaten and abused by the men in her life.”
Tatum took to the wild life early and hard, though she completed addiction rehab in 1996 and claimed to be clean.
But her acting career was in tatters. Last year, she began a comeback, however, landing film and TV roles, including the alcoholic shrew Maggie, sister of Denis Leary’s firefighter Tommy Gavin, in “Rescue Me.”
In an interview last year, she said she felt sorry for celeb-wreck Britney Spears, saying things started getting better for her when she left LA.
“I was thrust out there as a little kid. It was hard to cope,” she told Post columnist Liz Smith… “I used to walk with my head down. I was involved with drugs and alcohol. I had a lot of shame and self-hatred.”
She was charged early today with criminal possession of a controlled substance; Garcia with criminal sale of a controlled substance.

In the winter of 1964, Sports Illustrated magazine was in its usual sales slump. So the editorial staff at S.I. decided to try something new.
Babette Marche, a model in a racy (for the time) bikini was splashed across the cover for their new February issue and - surprise! - the edition was almost an instant sellout.
Soon, hot-blooded sports fans by the millions were waiting at mailboxes for delivery of the Sports llustrated Swimsuit Issue in an annual winter tradition.
Almost single-handedly, Sports Illustrated had launched the Era of the Supermodel - giving rise to the careers of Tyra Banks, Christie Brinkley, Rachel Hunter, Elle Macpherson and Kathy Ireland (to name only a few) who have since graced the cover.
The 2006 landmark “topless” cover featured models Veronica Varekova, Elle Macpherson, Rebecca Romijn, Rachel Hunter, Daniela Pestova, Elsa Benitez, Carolyn Murphy and Yamila Diaz.

Former tennis great Martina Hingis has tested positive for cocaine and announced her retirement from the game.
Martina Hingis said Thursday she has been accused of testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon, but she denied using the drug. She also announced her retirement from professional tennis. “I find this accusation so horrendous, so monstrous that I’ve decided to confront it head on by talking to the press,” she said. “I am frustrated and angry. I believe that I am absolutely 100 percent innocent.”

Hingis said she was accused by “an outsource testing company” of taking cocaine during Wimbledon. She said she was “shocked and appalled” when notified that her urine sample came back positive after the loss to Granville. “They say that cocaine increases self-confidence and creates a type of euphoria,” she said in a statement. “I don’t know. I only know that if I were to try to hit the ball while in any state of euphoria, it simply wouldn’t work. I would think that it would be impossible for anyone to maintain the coordination required to play top class tennis while under the influence of drugs. And I know one other thing — I would personally be terrified of taking drugs.”
Hingis said she later underwent a privately arranged hair test which came back negative for cocaine. The official backup “B” sample test on her Wimbledon urine sample, however, tested positive for the drug.
Hingis said she hired an attorney who found “various inconsistencies” with the urine sample taken during Wimbledon. “He is also convinced that the doping officials mishandled the process and would not be able to prove that the urine that was tested for cocaine actually came from me,” she said.
Hingis said it could take years to fight her case and decided it was time to retire. “I have no desire to spend the next several years of my life reduced to fighting against the doping officials,” she said. “The fact is that it is more and more difficult for me, physically, to keep playing at the top of the game. “And frankly, accusations such as these don’t exactly provide me with motivation to even make another attempt to do so.”
Hingis hasn’t been at the top of her game in a long, long time. Being washed up at 27 might convince somebody to start doing coke.

Maria Sharapova is involved in a federal lawsuit that claims the head of a leading Japanese ad agency, Toyo Shigeta, secretly snapped upskirt photos of her while she posed for a 2005 Canon camera ad. The pervert then allegedly passd the photo around to colleagues.
Steve Biegel was the firm’s former creative director, and he has brought this suit against the company after being fired. “Taking closeup crotch shots of women is a personal obsession of defendant Shigeta,” Biegel says in the discrimination suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court. He says he was fired after complaining about the upskirt photos.
For it’s part, Dentsu is denying all the claims and says that Biegel is looking for a payday.
The alleged snapshot of Sharapova was taken at a tennis center in Key Biscayne, Fla., while she was playing tennis. It is attached to Biegel’s complaint as Exhibit B.

‘Age of Love’ is over and I’m sure two people out there are sad about it, but here is some interesting news in the aftermath. In the program’s recent finale, former competitive tennis pro Mark Philippoussis picked a 20-something aspiring “Blind Date” contestant over 48-year-old Jennifer Braff.
It seems that while Jennifer was working as executive assistant to Lakers owner Jerry Bus, she was moonlighting in Playboy and selling pictures at L.A.’s porn convention ‘Glamourcon.’

Those weren’t just two friends having dinner together when we last saw Dax Shepard and Kate Hudson together - turns out they’re actually dating. In fact, Kate took Dax to meet the parents.
The two flew to Muskoka, Canada, where Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have a home. Apparently “Dax fit right in”, playing tennis with Kate’s brothers and teaching son Ryder how to fish.
“One day, all the guys took a boat to an outdoor market and ate hot dogs. Dax and Kurt were laughing like they had known each other for years,” says a source.
Although friends wonder about the appeal because “Dax is wild and weird”, they have to admit that “he makes her laugh.”
I really never saw these two getting together, but I guess it’s just another random Hollywood match-up.
