The Weekend Box Office Results 3/22/09

Nicolas Cage’s new movie, “Knowing” really took off this weekend with the box office gold at a $24,814,000 take this weekend. While it’s not the best showing, it knocked “Race To Witch Mountain” out of the top spot.

Coming in second place was the movie that I thought would take the top rankings in the charts, “I Love You, Man“. The Paul Rudd/Jason Segel comedy, brought in $18,005,000 in the second spot.

Taking third place this weekend was Julia Roberts’ and Clive Owen’sDuplicity” with $14,402,000 in ticket sales. In fourth place on the charts was “Race To Witch Mountain“, which brought in $13,004,000 in it’s second week. “Watchmen” brought in $6,725,000 in it’s third week.

Check out the “Knowing” trailer:

The movie is about a professor who stumbles on terrifying predictions about the future from a time capsule that’s been in the ground for fifty years, and sets out to prevent the events from happening.

The Weekend Box Office Results 3/15/09

Race To Witch Mountain” captured the box office this weekend and came out ahead of last week’s top movie, “Watchmen“.

The movie raked in a total of $25,000,000 this past weekend, which isn’t the best take for an entire weekend’s worth of box office sales, but it’s good, considering the competition.

Watchmen” grabbed second place with a total of $18,070,000. Nabbing the third spot on the weekend chart was “The Last House On The Left (2009)” with $14,658,000.

Coming in fourth place was “Taken” with $6,650,000 in its seventh week in theaters. Bringing up fifth place was “Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes To Jail“, which I thought would’ve fell of the radar completely by now.

Check out the trailer:

Aww look at Corey Feldman at the premiere, trying to stay relevant.

Via IMDB, here is their short synopsis of the flick:

A UFO expert enlists the help of a cabbie to protect two siblings with paranormal powers from the clutches of an organization that wants to use the kids for their nefarious plans.

Before They Were Stars: Carla Gugino

Before Carla Gugino played the Silk Spectre in “Watchmen“, she had a smaller role. In Bon Jovi’s video for “Always”, you’ll see a much younger Carla playing the girlfriend role.

You’ll also notice Keri Russell in the 1994 video, playing the other woman.

At 37, Carla still has some good things on the horizon. She’s in the upcoming movies “Our Lady Of Victory”, “The Race To Witch Mountain” “Elecktra Luxx”, and “Women In Trouble”.
