Fireworks erupted on the set of ‘The View’ today when hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Beharleft the set during an interview with Bill O’Reilly while discussing the proposed “Ground Zero mosque.”
“The mosque down here on 9/11. That’s inappropriate,” O’Reilly said of the planned Islamic community center being built near the site of the former World Trade Center.
“Sure, they have a right to do it,” he continued. “But it’s inappropriate because a lot of the 9/11 families who I know, say, ‘Look, we don’t want that.’”
When Joy, Whoopi and the other ladies expressed their opposition to ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ star’s opinion, he attempted to shut them down.
“Listen to me because you’ll learn,” he exclaimed. He added that he believes President Obama’s numbers are falling because of his unwillingness to comment on “the wisdom of” building the community center.
“You’re saying that Americans are not smart enough to recognize that while it is part of our Constitution to say freedom of religion and freedom to worship and there were 70 families who are Muslim who also died in that building. So you’re saying that his saying that they have the right to do it and not saying anymore is why his approval ratings have gone down?” Goldberg questioned.
The heated discussion went back and forth, but the huge blow came after O’Reilly said “Muslims killed us on 9/11,” causing Goldberg and Joy to walk off the set enraged.
The cast members of “The Real Housewives Of DC” appeared on “The View” yesterday to promote the upcoming show, but the drama that went down was far better than I’m sure the show will ever be.
Michaele Salahi was babbling on about who insulted who on the show, when Whoopi Goldberg emerged from the back area and touched her. Whoopi asked her to stay on topic, saying, “Can we go back to the White House, please?” She promptly left the stage, but most of the drama happened back there after the show.
Apparently Michaele had accused Whoopi of hitting her upon approaching her when the show was being taped. This set Whoopi off, prompting her to vehemently deny the kerfuffle. View the tape, below:
According to Lisa Bloom, the Salahi’s lawyer, Goldberg grabbed Salahi’s arm and said, “Move on, move on! Get to the White House!”
…Then, after the show finished taping, Goldberg, according to the Salahis’ lawyer, Lisa Bloom, burst into a room Michaele was sitting in with Tareq and screamed: “I didn’t f*cking hit you! Did you say I f*cking hit you?”
According to Michaele’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, she was defamed on the show by being referred to as the White House party crashers, when they were told not to mention that. They’re still claiming that they were invited, even though that’s unlikely.
Lisa Bloom said, “I think they treated her horribly. I think they defamed her. I was really shocked by the way she was treated. It’s one thing to ask tough questions, it’s another to use defamatory language when you’ve been warned not to.”

ABC’s ‘The View’ has welcomed many notable guests, but none more prominent than President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to visit for Thursday’s edition. In making the announcement on Monday, executive producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie said this marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has visited a daytime talk show.
They said the majority of the hour will be devoted to Obama’s appearance, which will touch on topics including jobs, the economy, the Gulf oil spill and family life inside the White House. It is scheduled to tape on Wednesday.
“We are so pleased and honored,” Walters said.
Walters will make a special return to the studio for the occasion, joining co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. Other than a brief segment broadcast from her home this month, Walters has been off the air since undergoing open-heart surgery in May and had not planned to be back until September.
Obama’s appearance is part of the show’s continuing “Red, White & View” campaign, which is committed to political guests and discussions. The show welcomed Vice President Joe Biden in April.
Obama was last a guest on ‘The View’ in March 2008 when he was a U.S. senator.
The program airs weekdays on ABC at 11AM Eastern time.
Sarah Palin‘s gun sight-riddled campaign map is so militant that it’s even lost her the support of “The View” co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who called Palin’s behavior “despicable.”
After “View” co-host Joy Behar said the map, which features white and red gun sights drawn over districts whose Democratic representatives voted for health care, “looks like an al Qaeda Christmas card” Thursday, Hasselbeck — who campaigned with Palin in 2008 — spoke up in uncharacteristic agreement.
“This hasn’t been a great week in terms of, I think, the Constitution and where it says that you’re supposed to, you know, everybody is, has a mandate to have insurance. But I think the way some Republicans are handling this is nothing more than purely despicable.
The names that are next to and being highlighted by those crosshairs — I think it’s an abuse of the Second Amendment. I also feel as though every single person on here is a mother, a father, a friend, a brother, a sister, and to take it to this level is — it’s disappointing to see this come from the Party, and I would hope that leaders like Sarah Palin would end this.”
After some crosstalk from the other “View” co-hosts, Behar thanked Hasselbeck for repudiating the GOP’s implicit support for the increasingly violent behavior directed towards Democrats.
“John Boehner should take a page from your book. Republicans are not speaking out against this and you may be the first one to do it, and I salute you, my girl.”

Victoria Beckham appeared on The View yesterday and gave her input on the whole fat/skinny model debate that has been going through the fashion world for the past couple of years.
While the model weight debate has been circulating for the last few years, it is only the past 8 months that it is really starting to make headlines worldwide. As a fashion designer and super skinny person herself, it was only natural and a matter of time before Victoria “weighed” in on the debate.
Posh Spice showed off her new collection just a few days during New York Fashion Week, in which she used a lot of thin models – one looked fatigue/famishing, to great reviews.
When the topic was brought up she said, “most of these girls are naturally thin, and I don’t think we should be discriminating against someone because they are too thin or too curvy or too large or whatever it is.”
Victoria said that she has signed on to a campaign by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which is calling for industry people to be more responsible.
On this she said, “The CFDA have reached out to designers, stylists and casting directors not to work with underage models, girls that are too thin and to be more ethnically aware. And I think designers are listening. I had a casting last week and had some terribly thin girls come in and it wouldn’t have worked. The campaign the CFDA has launched is called Health Is Beauty, and they are definitely encouraging designers to work with healthier-sized models.”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m all for using all sizes (although to be fair clothes would look better on a thinner, thin not anorexic, girl rather than someone that is a size 16) on the runway but at the same time I realize that designers basically want a walking hanger down the runway. The whole models weight debate is really starting to get tired, if there is going to be some rules then I wish somebody would just do it now and if not then I wish the debate would stop.
That said, I don’t think anybody should be looking at Victoria Beckham for what is acceptable when it comes to weight.

In 1977, Roman Polanski, aged 44, had sex with a 13-year-old girl named Samantha Gailey. He invited her over for a photo shoot, then gave her quaaludes and champagne.

Now that you’re caught up on the back story of this whole scandal, let’s fast forward to today. I never thought I would refer to Whoopi Goldberg as a nitwit, but I am today.
On “The View”, she defended Polanski, saying that it wasn’t “rape-rape.” What does that even mean?!??
He pleaded guilty of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, but it was still rape. She was thirteen, for Christ’s sakes.

I hope they throw the book at that coward. Shame on him for what he did to that young girl. I know that she probably wants to move on already, but he still committed a crime and then fled the country for fear of the sentence.

Sheri “strutted her stuff” on stage to I’m Every Woman and then said “I feel really great. I just wanted to show people that you don’t have to do anything crazy. You just have to make some choices and exercise and the weight will drop off. I hope some folks were inspired.”
Sherri made a promise to diet and work out back in May, she has since lost 5 inches from her waist and 10 inches overall. Some of her menu consisted of grilled chicken, salad and water.
On the exercising she said “I do a lot of stairs, a lot of planks, a lot of squats, a lot of treadmill, a lot of screaming — and I do it four times a week.”
The one part of her body that she will never change? Her boobs, that’s what I like to hear a woman say – “I love my boobs!”.
When asked if she would have a breast reduction she said “What?! No! I would never ever, ever, ever, I don’t care how old they get and how long they get, I’m going to love my boobs. I’d never get rid of them.”
Elisabeth Hasselbeck ripped off a woman by plagiarizing her disease material — so claims Susan Hassett, who fired off a letter to “The View” host just before suing her.
TMZ obtained the letter — in which Susan claims she sent Elisabeth a book called “Living with Celiac Disease” back in April of ’08. Thirteen months later, Susan says Hasselbeck published the same book with a new title: “The G Free Diet-A Gluten Free Survival Guide.”

Hasselbeck recently discovered she’s long suffered from celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder linked to gluten proteins found in wheat, barley and rye. The disease can cause, among other things, chronic diarrhea and fatigue.

Melissa Etheridge appeared on The View this morning and naturally got into discussing Prop 8, she ended up calling Elisabeth Hasselbeck out on she had discussed gay marriage on a previous show.
Melissa straight up asked Elisabeth if she was for gay marriage or same sex marriage, to which Elisabeth said it is a legal issue and not a personal issue.
Before things could get really heated, Sherri Shepherd had to interupt and get Melissa to sing a Christmas song from her new album.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one that was curious to see Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s reaction to Barack Obama being elected president. Of course, The View ladies took the opportunity of asking.
Hasselbeck said, “We’ve had such incredible discussions here,†and then addressed Barack Obama’s acceptance speech with her daughter Grace.
When Grace asked who lost the election, Elisabeth said she told her, “No one lost today – and God knows I fought hard on the other side. Today is a victory for this country. The first black president. The first black first lady — family. I haven’t felt this good…
“Are you saying I was right all along?†Joy probed.
A few laughs later, she admitted that she will support her president — because that is the right thing for us to do.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck gets more death threats than anyone else on “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg revealed Monday night at Cooper Union.
Whoopi – part of a panel discussion on Art and Educational Justice hosted by the Stella Adler Studio with Rosie Perez, Phylicia Rashad and Anna Deavere Smith – said of her conservative co-host:
“Politically we could not be more opposite, but I respect her tremendously. Truth is, we could not have a dialogue without Elizabeth. It’s not that we have to agree, the important thing is that we have the conversation.”
Sarah Palin sure is shaking things up isn’t she? The ladies from The View got into yet another fight over Palin, well it was mainly the women against Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Barbara Walters jumped in (for a change) and said to Elizabeth “Every single day you never ever say, maybe there’s another point, so this is your chance. Tell us now why you think that Sarah Palin would make a very good President.”
This didn’t go down well with Elizabeth who said “Yes, I do!†she then went on to say, “well, since I’ve been studying for this pop quiz forever! I….tell me why Barack Obama is qualified. Give me three tangible things he has done.”
Of course before it could get even more heated they went to a commercial. So who do you think is in the right – Hasselbeck or the other ladies?
