Jessica Simpson has a new man, and surprise, surprise, he used to be a baller!
The singer-actress has admitted that she started dating former NFLer Eric Johnson last month and sources say they are smitten with each other.
One said: “They are very happy.”
Johnson — who has previously played for the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints — split from his wife earlier this year and filed for divorce in February.
Although she was romantically linked to Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan late last year, Simpson hasn’t been in a serious relationship since ex-boyfriend Tony Romo dumped her on her 29th birthday.
Despite the way Romo ended their romance, Simpson insists they are still friends.
She has said: “Tony is great, still a friend of mine. I still look at his cute butt in the outfit/uniform. What went wrong? You’d have to ask him that. He broke up with me on my birthday… but we are still good friends.”
Simpson was previously married to singer Nick Lachey and dated John Mayer for nine months.

Rumors are flying today that Tiger Woods may have been romantically involved with Jessica Simpson at some point while he was married to Elin Nordegren and Jessica was dating Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo.
Tony Romo played at Tiger’s golf partner at the AT&T National Pro-Am golf tournament in July 2009, and a source tells Star that Tiger was definitely a fan of Jessica’s.
“Tiger liked what he saw and let her know it.”
The source went on to say,
“Jessica said that she felt like Tony wasn’t paying attention to her, so she was like, ‘What the heck!’ … She decided to have fun with Tiger whether it bothered Tony or not.”
Phone numbers and email addresses were reportedly exchanged between Simpson and Woods… and it’s anyone’s guess what happened after that.
Tiger needs to start seeking endorsements from condom companies. His slogan could be “Protect yourself from the golf clap!”

It seems amazing to me how they could even slap their name on something like this. How are they going to poke fun at Jessica for her weight, which seems relatively normal, and then encourage all of us to go out and get a Whopper?
This is just plain obnoxious. Fatties, take your business elsewhere, Burger King is just going to make fun of you, after you’re all done, smashing those fries and your Diet Coke.
Is anyone really surprised that Tony Romo dumped blonde bimbus girlfriend Jessica Simpson over the fact that she was chugging drinks down like they were going out of style?
She would drink until she got sloppy drunk, which is hard to tell, because she’s already dumb in the first place. Apparently, Tony got sick of it when his friends started to rag on him incessantly about it.
An insider said, “Jessica would get really drunk and obnoxious, it was out of control. She would be sprawled everywhere with her head on his lap and the look on Tony’s face said it all. He was so embarrassed in front of all the guys and his teammates were really harsh on him over it. Breaking up was a really hard decision for Tony to make.”
He tried to go to bat for her, but his friends were relentless, but it just got so bad that he had to ditch her.
A friend of hers is calling BS on the reports, saying that Jess doesn’t drink “too much” and that there were other issues at work leading up to their breakup.
The friend added, “She was devastated and it did come as a shock, however.”
Fresh off her recent break-up with Tony Romo, unlucky in everything Jessica Simpson has found romance yet again!
The singer/actress has reportedly hooked up with yet another football star — this time Washington Redskins quarterback Colt Brennan.
“This is a huge stab in the back for Tony, because the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins hate each other,†a souce tells Star mag. “Jessica must really want revenge.â€
The pair is said to have even set up webcams to chat “face-to-face.â€

Tony Romo isn’t taking any chances when it comes to Jessica Simpson because he has banned her from his Dallas home.
Just two weeks after dumping Simpson the night before her 29th birthday, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has now told security to keep the singer away from his gated community.
A sign at the entrance said “RED ALERT!!! TONY ROMO HAS MADE SOME CHANGES TO HIS LIST OF PEOPLE ALLOWED IN….JESSICA IS NO LONGER ON THE LIST AND NOT APPROVED FOR ACCESS.”
She apparently spent $19,000 on shipping costs to ship 37 boxes of her stuff from Dallas to L.A. overnight according to US Weekly.
Kind of harsh on Tony Romo‘s part, but at this point I don’t know whether to laugh or feel sad for Jessica Simpson.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback dumped the singer the day before her 29th birthday, PEOPLE reports.
“She is heartbroken. She loves Tony. But it’s been difficult lately. He’s busy with his career and she’s getting ready to shoot her show. They decided to part ways.”
Romo and Simpson have been dating since November of 2007 and reportedly split once before because the former ‘Newlyweds’ star’s father was rumored to be meddling in their relationship.
For some reason Vanity Fair have decided to put Jessica Simpson both on the cover and featured in the new issue of their magazine.
For the past year she hasn’t been looking too good but I have to be honest and say in some of these pictures she does look cute, probably thanks to photoshop but oh well. Here are some bits from her interview:
On her relationship with her dad/manager Joe Simpson: “If I’m going for advice for anything in my life, I go straight to my father because he has the answers. I can talk to my dad like he’s my manager, and put ‘Dad’ on the back burner. We’ve been doing it since I was 13. So, at this point, we’re in a good rhythm. A lot of people find it strange, but it’s the only way I know. And I don’t care to know another way, because it suits me. And we’ve done a pretty dang good job.”
On the medias treatment of her: “When it comes to media criticism, that’s just something I have had to train myself – literally train myself – to ignore. Because I’m the one up there onstage, and I can feel the energy of the crowd. And I know when I did good. And I know when I did great. And there wasn’t one time on this tour when I felt like I butchered it. I mean, the way people make it sound, I should have never been singing in the first place. It comes with what I do and I know that every day the media’s going to challenge me, is going to want to bring me down. But I feel like I’m at such a place that I own myself, and it’s authentic. I own that authentic part of myself, and none of those words are harsh enough to make me believe them. I can’t imagine saying some of the things people have said about me about anybody else.”
On her faith: “I’m spiritual. I live off the faith that has been instilled in me, that has never left. I’ve never let a stumbling block actually make me fall. We all go through trials, but not one thing has ever made me question God. I have a great relationship with God. I can talk to him, get mad at him, frustrated with him. But, ultimately, my faith is what defines me.”
On her business: “The Jessica Simpson Collection is a $400 million business. My mom and I are creative directors. We have hundreds of people working, but nothing gets by us. It’s adorable and it’s affordable. What’s amazing right now, during this recession, is that, somehow, the business keeps growing.”
On ex husband Nick Lachey and Newlyweds: “I have not spoken to him in years. In all honesty, I believe it did not affect our marriage, Because we enjoyed watching those episodes, and that will always be a time I cherish. It made me understand what marriage is, what love is, what commitment is.”
