Still Hot Or Not: Tom Cruise

Yes, I’m going there. This is the man that Katie Holmes said that she’d dreamed of marrying when she was younger. Now that she’s got her wish, she’s probably trying to run away kicking and screaming.

Tom Cruise was hot back in his “Days Of Thunder” and “Risky Business” days. So much that I’m sure he inspired tons of guys (and some girls) to imitate his dancing without pants scene from “Risky Business“.

We sympathized with him in “Jerry Maguire” and loved to think he’d “complete me”.

Now, it’s an entirely different story. He’d “complete” something, alright….an application to admit himself into the psych ward for evaluation.

He’s still on the promotion circuit for his Nazi movie, “Valkyrie” and I think that since he’s gotten older, Xenu is clearly not impressed and is not letting him age gracefully.

What do you think?

The Weekend Box Office Results – 1/04/09

Welcome to 2009! The new year hasn’t really seen much change with the box office results from last week, but needless to say, “Marley & Me” has taken the crown again.

For the second weekend in a row, Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, along with that adorable dog, are bringing in the payola. Have you seen it yet? See the trailer here.

The box office this weekend pretty much shows us that there were no newer movies put out to give “Marley & Me” any competition. With nothing out to rival the top five, it’s no wonder that absolutely nothing changed.

Bedtime Stories” again took second place with an $8 million drop from last weekend. This is also a movie that I plan on seeing. I love all things Adam Sandler, so this is not a “wait for the DVD” movie.

At third place again, is Brad Pitt’s movie, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button“. I started watching this movie and got half-way through. Admittedly, it’s not because it was bad or anything, it was just late. It’s a long movie, but I did like what parts I saw.

Fourth in the lineup, surprisingly, is Tom Cruise’s Nazi flick, “Valkyrie“. Tom’s dedicated promotion of the movie brought out the fans, to the tune of $14 million and change.

Yes Man” rounds out the list of the top five for this past weekend. This is another movie that I’m going to see before it leaves the theaters.

Tom Cruise’s ‘Valkyrie’ Becomes a Comedy

MGM’s marketing team is working hard to convince audiences that their often-delayed Tom Cruise vehicle “Valkyrie” is a thriller and not the chatfest “Lions for Lambs” was.

But those who’ve gotten an early glimpse say not only is the film nowhere near as exciting as a thriller, but Tom Cruise’s performance elicits uncomfortable and inappropriate laughs.

Among them: A scene where Cruise’s character, Claus Von Stauffenberg, is forced to give the infamous “Heil Hitler” salute. “It’s an unsettling scene but you almost start to laugh,” the source says. “His character is resisting it but you never forget it’s Tom Cruise saying ‘Heil Hitler.’ It’s funny and shocking at the same time.”

Sources also described a scene where Cruise’s character Claus Von Stauffenberg removes a false eye. “It was disgusting,” said one person who saw the film. “It was like watching someone pluck their contacts out.”
