Where Are They Now? Jim Carrey

Before he was Horton, ever donned a “Mask“, and way before he was “Bruce Almighty“, Jim Carrey was belting out tunes in a movie called “Copper Mountain“.

The film was his first foray into the field of comedy and only ran sixty minutes long. It wasn’t described as a feature film, largely due to the musical performances of Rita Coolidge and Ronnie Hawkins.

Check out Jim singing for the movie:

Awful!

The movie centers around two friends who go to a ski resort. One of which, Jim’s character, has trouble picking up girls, and the other, played by Alan Thicke, is intent on hitting the slopes. Wikipedia describes the movie as half country music singing and half Club Med informercial.

As you can see (and thankfully), Jim really honed his comedic talent. He went on to star in “The Mask“, “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective“, “Yes Man“, and more.

This scene is from one of my favorite movies, “Liar, Liar“, where Jim’s character, a lawyer, was challenged not to lie for an entire day:

“The pen is blue!”

Jim is currently working on “A Christmas Carol” and “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!“, both of which are in post-production.

The Weekend Box Office Results – 1/04/09

Welcome to 2009! The new year hasn’t really seen much change with the box office results from last week, but needless to say, “Marley & Me” has taken the crown again.

For the second weekend in a row, Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, along with that adorable dog, are bringing in the payola. Have you seen it yet? See the trailer here.

The box office this weekend pretty much shows us that there were no newer movies put out to give “Marley & Me” any competition. With nothing out to rival the top five, it’s no wonder that absolutely nothing changed.

Bedtime Stories” again took second place with an $8 million drop from last weekend. This is also a movie that I plan on seeing. I love all things Adam Sandler, so this is not a “wait for the DVD” movie.

At third place again, is Brad Pitt’s movie, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button“. I started watching this movie and got half-way through. Admittedly, it’s not because it was bad or anything, it was just late. It’s a long movie, but I did like what parts I saw.

Fourth in the lineup, surprisingly, is Tom Cruise’s Nazi flick, “Valkyrie“. Tom’s dedicated promotion of the movie brought out the fans, to the tune of $14 million and change.

Yes Man” rounds out the list of the top five for this past weekend. This is another movie that I’m going to see before it leaves the theaters.

The Weekend Box Office Results – 12/21/08

Jim Carey is taking over the world, one funny, slapstick movie at a time. This weekend, his newest flick, Yes Man, is at the top of the box office with $18,160,000.

That’s definitely something to say “Yes!” to.

I really want to see this movie, I can’t wait. Even though it’s probably Jim Carey as Jim Carey in the same role, I love his movies. You can tell by the trailer that he offers up some of the same Carey-style comedy that we’re used to from him.

The movie stars Jim Carey as Loan Officer, Carl Allen. Carl is a man that would say no to anything, until he went to a Yes Man seminar. He chooses to embrace the opportunities in life by saying yes to everything. Also in the mix is cutie Bradley Cooper as Carl’s friend and Zooey Deschanel as Carl’s potential love interest.
